Does anyone know a way to get the enhanced features on the Verizon S6 Edge? I'm talking about the Profile Sharing and Simple Sharing features that Verizon removed from our phones. We are able to get the stock browser back and even Smart Manager but I haven't heard anyone working on the Enhanced Features.
I was bummed to see Simple Sharing wasn't there. How could that be a bad thing, Verizon?

Hi guys!
I was wondering why the usb-tethering option is not available in our LGOB?
I came from an cheap Samsung Galaxy Ace - and here i had WiFi-Tethering along with USB-Tethering.
As far as i know, thats a Android Stock-Feature?
Therefore, is there a way to just enable the usb-tethering (e.g. with a line in the build.prop or something similar)?
I dont want to use 3rd party-apps to get this running, since i love a straight, clean system without too many apps.
Looking forward to hear from you!
Simple question. Does the stock GB on the Bionic have the integrated SIP stack stripped from the OS or not? This is more important to me now with all the rumors of Verizon tracking / limiting rooted users. If I'm forced to use the stock OS then what other liberties did these clowns take to try to prevent me from doing things they don't want? (e.g. backing me into a corner so I still have to pay their ridiculous voice service charges)
This might be the time I decide to cancel my Verizon altogether and go with TracFone + Galaxy WiFi Player (use VoIP when in WiFi range, otherwise use backup prepaid phone). Buncha greedy jerks.
Can someone who owns the phone already check this for me? Should be able to tell by going to "Settings -> Call Settings" and looking for an "Internet Calling" configuration section. If it's not there then they likely stripped it from the OS.
Thanks!
MIA. Looks like it's been stripped.
there are better alternatives anyway - like sipdroid - i wouldnt let the lack of GB native VOIP hinder your decision. Just my thoughts
thanks guys!
to the point about external apps offering SIP support. yes, you're right, but there are numerous advantages to using the native SIP stack vs external apps like sipdroid.
a few come to mind:
* sipdroid/csipsimple has some hardware/driver issues on some phones and makes it hard to work around them at the software level.
* i've found the NAT punching/traversal these programs offer is sometimes lackluster (do they even use libjingle?) making my voip inoperable on public wifis without special port trigger setup or putting my phone in a DMZ.
* it's nice having the SIP stack integrated into OS so it's fully supported by the native dialer and other phone functions
so, i do have interest in making sure my next purchase has this feature. i'm also not sure i'm willing to sign a 2 yr commitment with a provider that limits which features i can use in the OS... that seems to be their power trip going a bit too far.
FYI -
I just got done trying the Galaxy S2 fix for this (see thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962) where you add the android.software.sip.voip.xml back to the system\etc\permissions folder but it did not bring the feature back. Looks like Motorola was more effective than Samsung in their stripping of the feature.

This feature disabled in BlurPhone. It is hardcoded as mSipSupported = 0 and no way to activate it.
i'm trying to re-enable this by editing blurphone.apk. i see in phoneapp.smali constructor this code:
Code:
.line 299
iput-boolean v1, p0, Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp;->mIsSipSupported:Z
now, how do i change it to set the field to true instead of false? (sorry, i'm new to this)
Man I reallly hope someone has some luck with this - it's the only thing about the Bionic I have a problem with...ha
i tried changing the dalvik opcodes myself to force mIsSipSupported to true, then recompiled, resigned, and pushed to my system files but it crashes (force close) everytime it tries to access the BlurPhone.apk functionality now =(
not sure what approach should be, maybe someone has more info they can chime in with regarding modifying this .apk without it crashing
I'd love if someone figured this out I used to use CSIP SIMPLE and Google Voice Call back, which worked great, but having those running in the background was juicing my battery like no other. Hope someone can find a native SIP workaround!
I made a post/request in the developer forums @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322163
I'm ponying up $20 to a dev that can restore SIP support in a couple different ways on the Bionic. If this feature is valuable to you then join me by pooling in some funds for a dev to help us out!
Hope we will have a solution soon!
Everyone has mentioned that simple sharing IS in the Verizon variant, however it's not available on mine. Or Perhaps I disabled something without knowing it. But does anyone else have this issue? Heres a screenshot of my share page. Also, profiling sharing.... was that axed too?

Having just read one of the many stories about what various carriers do and do not remove from the S6 phone, I noticed that the claim is that Verizon did not remove the "Simple Sharing" feature - while some other carriers apparently did.
However, my attempts to find it have resulted in pretty much the exact same screen you posted.
If the indicator that "Simple Sharing" is available is denoted by the contacts icon appearing in the share-list (from, say, the My Files or Gallery apps) then I'd have to say we (well, at least I) don't have it.
Hey Guys,
I am looking for a way to record all incoming and out bound calls on the note 5. It is obviously simple with a rooted phone but does anyone have any ideas or methods to do this with a non-rooted phone. Would SUPER DUPER appreciate a method.
Thanks
try Call Recorder s5 / s6 by Killer Mobile on play store.
Automatic Call Recroder
For call recording you can use it's function or you may use call recording software... here you can found different solution

Note 5 Call Recording
Wouldn't it be nice if the carriers and manufactures would start offering the experience you get with 3rd party ROMs on rooted phones. Obviously there is built in functionality that allows call recording flawlessly. Now I have the note 5 and have to work around it.
[Enter the long rant about how I hate being locked down by carriers on devices I pay full price for here]
If I can square away a few functionality items that I like without root, I wouldn't need root.
I don't want every feature included in the base rom...
If it can be added with an app on non rooted phones, that is the best buy far.
Then those that don't want it don't have to have it (or the bloat of the feature they won't use), but those who want it can.
I just purchased this samsung phone after ages (been using xiaomi and other phones) but unfortunately it does not offer call recording in my country. Can anyone please share if they were able to change the CSC code to one with working call recording (indian csc maybe I have seen some indian youtubers mentioning how to enable call recording) .....also please guide me how exactly do you change the csc code on this phone any tutorial would be very helpful thanks.
Quick Update: I was able to enable call recording by changing my CSC through sam fw tool there is a catch tho, as soon as I change my csc to anything non-native the galaxy store starts spamming "get recommended apps from your provider" ads after every few minutes and there is no way to block notifications from galaxy store (the option to disable notifications is greyed out) so I had to revert back.
How about completely disabling the galaxy store then?
Do some people actually use that bloatware for real? That was like the first thing I debloated
Here you can read how I enabled native call recording feature on my Samsung device
Should work on most modern day Samsung devices out there
Enjoy

Galaxy Store is required because samsung apps (camera, themes, keyboard, cloud backup etc) are not available in play store they update via galaxy store disabling galaxy store would make sense only on a custom rom which unfortunately isnt available for my device A33 and I am not rooted either. I came back to samsung after many years on ios, miui and other UI and I am baffled by how polished One UI has become I can never go back to MIUI (it was a torture with all its bugs that never get fixed) or any other User interface.....I can literally customize anything from icons, font, system wide theming to even the statusbar icons (using good lock app) back in the days we had to use xposed modules to modify statusbar icons. Lack of native call recording is my only gripe with ONE UI at the moment.
Hi my default region is dubai. For call recording option i changed my fw to indian fw. Actually i got the call recording option. Similarly im having good battery life better than before. Only catch was samsung pay replace for Samsung pay mini. I think its better to switch full fw than only cse
So is it possible to change csc in a33 using samfw? to enable call recording?
Yes,
Have you not read the other posts?
I was due a replacement phone - so I decided on the A33 5G (sim free, untouched by any network provider)
.
Bought it direct from the Samsung Store online, paid £319.99 - £10 cheaper than most other stores online, i didnt want a contract, didnt want finance, just went hassle free and paid for it outright and it was direct from manufacturer.
I would usually require the most powerfull device available with the most freedom. and least restrictions, lets say a feature packed, flagship for a power user.
Well... my needs have changed and wow, for a mid entry device - the A33 is awesome.
BUT NO Native call recording in the UK.

I am 100% capable and confident with reprogramming the device if needed, I was a phone technician back in the day, the Beginning of Android changed the game for me and killed any future progression in my career.
Anyhow, can anyone advise - what other features are restriction by laws, location etc etc.
Is there any tools that can scan the firmware, or list all CSCs with their geolocated features etc.
kind regards,
Dan
