[Q] Downgrade Galaxy S4 Active I537 from 5.0.1 OC6 - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have searched these forums for this answer and I haven't got it yet.
Here's the situation
My Samsung Galaxy S4 Active I537 has Lollipop 5.0.1 (non rooted) and I'm trying to find a way to root it. From what I understand as of right now it is not possible. So someone from the Flashfire community suggested to go back to Nh3 or 4.4.2 and root there then use the guide from XDA to update to OC6 or Lollipop and keep root.
My inquiry really is how do I go back from 5.0.1 OC6 to 4.4.2 Nh3 on the I537?

Use Odin, there are instructions all over this forum. Lots of users (including myself) had to revert in order to get this running rooted

I'm on Stock Lollipop like you, and when I try and follow those instructions.
The flash back to NE3 keeps failing in ODIN.
I've tried version 3.07 and 3.09
Did you have that issue?

Are you using all four files: BL, AP, CP, and CSC? What exactly do you mean it is failing?

Yes using all 4 files.

Tried a third USB cable and it started working. Weird. They were all good high quality cables........

Lol that was going to be my only possible recommendation, Odin can be frustratingly picky with USB cables, almost no rhyme or reason

I clicked on the link and ran it through a translator. It's asking for a password to download, so I can't see what you're talking about. Is there another link to where you found the files and the password?

I would say, start your download again and see what you get. I don't have too much confidence in what they posted because they have MG5 firmware attributed to AT&T when it should be Telcel. Let me know how everything turns out.

I think it just Google security patches and HD voice feature.
There was an android police post on this like a week ago. Here you go: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/07/30/sprint-galaxy-s4-receive-ota-software-update-l720vpufng2-bringing-minor-enhancements/

You cannot take an OTA while rooted, no matter what method you used.

Do you know what steps I would need to take to get this OTA? I might skip it completely if it's not simple enough. I'm on NAE, rooted currently. I would probably need to reflash through Odin I assume?

That would be the simplest way. Or you could wait a bit until the NG2 .tar is posted and just Odin that.
Does anyone have the FNG2.tar? Posting it would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance

NE3 (kitkat) which is easily rootable, which you can then go to lollipop (and keep root) easily enough from there, should you wish. MF1 is ancient, no wonder it's giving you issues.
Even if you don't need or want root, go with NE3. It's the most stable of the recent builds, and from there you can either stay on kitkat or easily upgrade to lollipop, with or without root.

DON'T use kies. Trust me on that. The download link you asked for. Extract all four files and use all four concurrently with Odin should look like:

I would strongly recommend using Odin v3.09 if you aren't already, I have it for you if you need. Yes I realize the picture shows 3.07 but trust me I've done this a million times
Alright I'm gonna do it right now hopefully no errors occur I'm gonna post to tell you what happens
Oh! I should mention, when you do this, your phone will automatically reboot on its own a couple times, and one of those times will be to the stock android recovery. This is completely normal, just leave your phone alone and let Odin do its thing. I say this because I've seen so many people freak out when their phone starts doing stuff on its own. Just let Odin go, it knows what it's doing. Good luck!

StageFright Patch

Patch to the famous Stagefright vulnerabilities, this was provided in the newest update OH1 for the L720T. I did not do anything but put the files into a flashable zip. Has only been tested on Touchwiz 5.0 Lollipop. Thanks @fuzzybuffalo for providing me with the files from OH1.

No. You have to have custom recovery as stock recovery will not flash anything that isn't signed with a Samsung key.

You can try Flashfire, that is what I used. But I believe I also have a custom recovery, so I don't know if that helps Flashfire or not.

That is the full ROM to install using Odin. If you just want to try the patch in the OP, then you can try Flashfire, but it may not work with the OEM recovery.

I wasn't aware of it when I posted that. No one has posted the OTA which is what he was asking for. Anyways it's the same files for both phones. It's posted here, use it or don't.

Verizon 5G S10 will not update firmware/security patches, is it because of current FW

The Firmware I am on is G977UVRU0ASDG
I tried to update OTA and update assistant for PC and both failed saying this firmware cannot be updated. So I am really confused. Can someone confirm any further info about this firmware version? I enjoy the phone and I decided one day to check why I haven't gotten Android 10, and thus this is where I am now.
Also is it as simple as flashing the latest firmware via odin? If so, which site offers a dependable VZW firmware I can try flashing? Can I keep my files or would I have to make a backup first, flash via odin, then restore (which I hate to do because setting up a new phone takes so much time).
But most importantly I am curious to know more about this firmware version and what it is! Seems like VZW doesn't think its theirs. Thank you in advance.
Smartswitch says SDG, what is SDG? Is there a simple refresh/fix so that I can get OTA updates? Please help!

yeah, there were actually some crazy gestures that i noticed they got rid of in the FW i got it to upgrade to. LOL.
I'm having similar issues with the same firmware. Did you ever find a way to update your phone? I bought mine on ebay, supposedly NIB, but it came in generic packaging and said "demo" on a sticker on the back of the phone.
