StageFright Patch - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

Patch to the famous Stagefright vulnerabilities, this was provided in the newest update OH1 for the L720T. I did not do anything but put the files into a flashable zip. Has only been tested on Touchwiz 5.0 Lollipop. Thanks @fuzzybuffalo for providing me with the files from OH1.

No. You have to have custom recovery as stock recovery will not flash anything that isn't signed with a Samsung key.

The official zip is an update for only the L720T, I put together the files so all could have them. There had not been an update mentioned for the L720 yet. It is what it is, take it or leave it.

You can try Flashfire, that is what I used. But I believe I also have a custom recovery, so I don't know if that helps Flashfire or not.

That is the full ROM to install using Odin. If you just want to try the patch in the OP, then you can try Flashfire, but it may not work with the OEM recovery.

yes..... recovery is independent of a new android version
theres a new radio in the 4.3 build
can a CWM zip file be made out of this(just like rest of the roms) and if such a zip file is made available then is it so flashing it wouldn't delete user data like images etc ????

correct, flashing a zip created with cwm will NOT wipe your sd card data like a factory image does.
OTA updates are rolling out or not yet?
Possible to flash this without losing data? Im not talking about SD card data. Im talking about the data partition. Im on 4.2.2 100% stock

You can still root but taking ota won't allow you to downgrade the bootloader, as of now that's not a big thing but that can change... To answer your question though yes you will be able to flash this rom when it's posted..
Just an FYI because I didn't see it mentioned in here, use CP not AP to flash modems.
Also, I had to use Odin 3.09 to flash the two .bin files.
So if 3.12 doesn't work. Try 3.09.

New update PI2 (20160929) SPH-L720 (L720SPTGPI2)

Has anyone else received, and installed the new update?
I had it pop up this morning, 20160929, already downloaded (update.zip in /cache partition).
Opened the zip, and I see it has its own build #, the PI2.
This string is from the updater-script file:
Code:
file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "samsung/jfltespr/jfltespr:5.0.1/LRX22C/L720VPUGOK3:user/release-keys" ||
file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "samsung/jfltespr/jfltespr:5.0.1/LRX22C/L720VPUGPI2:user/release-keys" ||
The update prompt message is pretty vague:
{

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
I'm sure it will fail to flash with custom recovery (TWRP) on rooted stock ROM, with quite few system apps removed.
P.S.: If someone desires that update.zip, let me know, and I'll upload it.
Just wanted to share...
Weird, it hasn't been released for the L720T and they've gotten every other update first. I can't find any information about changes or anything, only place that it appears is on Samsung's open source website.
Yeah, I didn't see anything new on Sammobile either.

No, I'm kinda picking apart the update zip right now. Android for Work (which only requires 5.0+ so that doesn't tell us anything either) is the biggest change I see. There isn't a build.prop in the update.zip that downloaded to my phone this morning, which is weird... so I can't see what Android version it is yet, I'm hoping for at least 5.1.1 but it's doubtful. There's a lot of security and Knox stuff added which makes me think it's mainly a security update like the last 2 updates.
It's 5.0.1
Has anyone applied this update yet? I never received it on my phone and I'm wondering if i should download it from here and install it. I have the L720T by the way.

Thanks a lot man you are great
sph-l720 (not T) worked fine...
in order shown i:
-installed pi2 through kies3 on win 8.1 after backing up...
-using odin that came with latest cf-autoroot i re-rooted...
-using the same odin re-installed philz touch (older md5 version) and booted into it...
-installed latest (no longer in development) philz touch advanced version from zip file i have on sdcard1...
-rebooted into philz and installed very old emoji font support for samsung from a zip (dangerous) using philz...
-ran triangle away (very dangerous) and rebooted...
note that i had a backup on sdcard1 from philz made prior to any of this. also did one in kies3...
good luck!!!

Im surprised it still even gets updates lol
I was on stock rooted OK3, flashed back to stock, then updated using the update.zip, then ran CF-autoroot. I did hard reset after that because I wanted to start over anyway. Everything working fine.
