Hello developers,
I'm Giuseppe from TorrApk, a free Android app store that distribute only free apps in their .apk file format.
It was created about 3 years ago to meet the needs of people who want to install applications on devices that have no access to Google Play, or on devices whose brand is pretty unknown and then are considered incompatible with a lot of applications available on Play.
The service offered by TorrApk is highly appreciated in many countries around the world. More than 1600 developers are already using TorrApk because it's free, and it gives them the chance to reach devices that can not be reached with Play.
If you want to start using TorrApk, you can easily get your free developer account and you'll have access to developer's tools.
I want also remark that if you join TorrApk:
- all your personal pages will be served via encrypted connection (https);
- your password will be saved on our db after a strong encryption;
- we'll follow all the best practice to make secure any action that you can take in relation to your account;
- we'll take care of you by responding to any request as soon as possible ;
I know that this is my first post on xda-developers community and I'm using it to promote my personal project (sorry for that), anyway I really think that it can be useful to many of you.
For any further information, please feel free to ask, I'll be glad to reply.
Giuseppe

Dear All Users and Devs,
I am offering Free FTP / HTTP access to a Dedicated, Hosted Server.
There are no bandwidth limitations nor are there any space limitations.
I will give you your own sub-domain based on your XDA user name and you can link to it directly for allowing people to download your work from an Add Free Server. All downloads are instantly started and there are no add supported web pages presented in the process.
Upon request of an account I will PM you your user name and password and instructions of how to link to a file after you have uploaded to the server via FTP.
I offer this for one simple reason, I want to help out our Dev and make it faster for the users of XDA to gain access to there work.
Why do I offer it for free...... Other than the fact I'm a nice guy.... Simple, I paid for the hosted server for a total of 3 years in one lump sum and have found myself not making use of it so rather than let it do nothing and my money be wasted, I offer it to the member of my Favorite site, XDA-Developers.
So, if you want an account for hosting your work or might want to use such a server in the future then Just PM me, I have no problems if you simply want the account setup and you don't use it straight away, I will not remove inactive accounts as they don't cost me anything to have there and I know how useful it can be to have available should you need it, even if its not for use with XDA.
If you want advanced statistics of your monthly traffic, I will be happy to email you every month with a PDF of your own sub domain. This will include vast amount of information regarding the time of day people download your work and even which files are downloaded and how many times.
If you have any questions, Just PM me.
Kind Regards

PS, The only little condition that is not in any way enforceable but would be greatly appreciated would be to Hit my "Thanks" Button

3. Enjoy letting people access your work in a fast and Add Free way.
Note that all sub domains are a sub domain of SYLVESTER20007.COM
Please feel free to forward my details to other people you think might want to use this service. I recommend asking them to get there own account insted of letting them use yours so that the statistics and reporting for your sub domain are not effected.

Note to XDA Mod's and Admins.
I was made aware that I should post this kind of thread somewhere like this and I must stress that this is purely for helping people and not making any kind of profit for myself. If I have again posted this in the wrong place please advise me of my mistake and I will learn from it. I was very sad when you bocked my account for posting this in many different device forums.
I was Advised by the TheDeadCPU to post it somewhere like this and put a small link in my Signature that people can click on to bring them here.
Please advise if this is ok, if not then I will follow your guidance.
Peace Out

Hey there,
How long is left on the 3 years paid you mentioned???? This is a great idea! And generous too! I am thinking of PM'ing you as I have a number of files I would like to move from dev-host as they delete files after a certain period of no downloads........
This has to be running out by now??????
can anyone tell me why gamerzrom thread has been clased

Our XDA Thread is closed for funny reasons. Someone claimed rights about PNG files from Samsung based ROMS. What a bad thing we did uh! We spending hundreds of dollars, and unlimited time for this special project. We don't care about a few stupid PNG files. We are amazed how XDA staff did this mistake. Whatever.

"hundreds of dollars" - hehehe lies, plain bull**** all they do is COLLECT $ from ads and downloads
"unlimited time" - unlimited time to copy paste from others work ??? moving from one firmware to another is not taking much for one person, for couple of them even more
and well giving credits when taking someone elses work should be obligatory so either they constantly refused to give it or the reasons are other than they say
anyways i will wait with releasing stock+ untill those pro's will release thir version to do not get a copy pasted by those pros

ah nvm they copy paste cyanogen mod not stock firmwares

They're still devs trying to produce good roms for the I9000 community. Shaming them shouldn't be allowed, because they're still providing something good and are actively contributing to our device. There are people in these forums such as @darkknigh_t and myself who appreciate their work and for providing stable and fast roms for the community.
Respect their work and what they do, shaming and disregarding their work is just low.

They ran into some accusations over some .png files they used for the camera, which were the stock SGS4 images. Someone else claimed that the camera pngs were theirs. They didn't know that it was someone else's. It couldn't be sorted so the links for version 3.0 were taken down.

and it is not a rare here on xda that someone takes others work and 'forgets' to credit - maybe the png was not the only problm with gamerz - idk

There are many APK websites out there that link android apps to their websites or direct download apk are generated. Are the download counts on them are fake? Because I've been seeing download counts from 35-600 depending on the website for my app..

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I was in the same position as you, but then I realized that most of these numbers must have been made up or taken from google play. No way some random site is managing to get 1/8th or even 1/80th of the downloads of my niche app.
However, I would watch out for your app on aptoide (most likely only if it is paid), because they distribute paid apks for free.
Those numbers, graphics, APKs, and other stats are pulled from Google Play. But, they aren't always kept up-to-date, so that may be the cause of the irregularities.
If you don't want people to be using your app if they installed it from outside of Google Play, then you can look into adding "Android Licensing" to your app. This is more important for paid apps, rather than free apps.
Another idea is to set up a "Google Alert" for your app name, so you can see just about every time your app name is mentioned across the Internet. Then, you can contact the app platform and either claim the app or ask them not to distribute it.

Just spotted my apk redistributed on a site. On which basis would you ask for removal? What if they don't comply?

I've noticed much more of this going on recently. We can estimate it roughly... when we published Magic Keyboard there was one APK for the main app and separate APKs for each language pack. Occasionally we would see a big peak in downloads of the language pack with no matching peak for the main app. At one point we reckoned about 80% of the Russian pack downloads were from pirated versions.
We also had issues with people uploading to other app stores/sites like mobango pretending to be us, so watch out for that too!
Now we're on Magic Keyboard 2 we can do similar by measuring S3 lang. pack downloads against app downloads and this time there is probably a 20% or so discrepancy (quite a bit higher, overall, than for v1).
It's close to impossible to get stuff removed from some sites. If it happens to be hosted on blogger, you can complain to Google and they'll sort it out. Beyond that really it's a case of relying on most people not being willing to risk downloading from non-authentic sources.
Alternatively of course you could implement licencing but that's not without its problems... due to the size of the problem we are considering it.

It might inspire me to try a few more - if so I'll post back the results.

Hi there, there are several IDEs available but the 2 main ones for Android Development are Eclipse and Android Studio. Google now recommend using Android Studio, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is any better, it is way more complex than Eclipse in my opinion.
I'll post some links to articles on setting up the IDE after this post as I'm hoping I will be allowed by then...

I never used 3rd party apps, never setted up 3rd party apps just the stocks. My phone is on stock, too.
Interesting, that the 4 digit is realy my last digits of my phone number.
I installed Malwarebytes to my SM-G950F and after a full scan the result: Android/Trojan.Svpeng.rn in executed app "START". I don't know that this is a stock app or not but I know this was not installed by me.
After the removing process from the main locked screen I have lost the 3 round bubbles during the unlocking method.
Has ever somebody seen something mail as the citated?
Somebody has some ideas what to do? (I will not pay for nothing, I know the ransomware method.)
Could it be that I have this scam via once-used open WiFi connection without my know?
Thank you for your help.
Very best regards,

Hello,
A wrote to the Gmail Help Forum, and they send me this answer:
They may have picked it up from some other hacked site. There's been a trend of spam sent out that includes people's password. It's from hacking some other site and getting the unencrypted registration information, then sending out scams to all those addresses. It's a bit freaky when you get one of those.
If course if you're concerned about your account (and who shouldn't be), you should review all your account security and recovery settings: http://gmailaccountrecovery.blogspot.com/#security (scroll down to: When you reclaim Your Account).
