I'm trying to complete the OTA update on my 925A, however after it downloads and reboots to begin installing, it's says "update failed". Is there anybody else experiencing this issue, and does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!
If your Edge is currently rooted, it will always fail.

In my case I de-rooted by doing an Oding restore, but was still getting the error. This was due to CSC (partition?) changes I made while rooted. I had to Odin all 4 partitions back to stock before the update worked for me.

Have you completely powered down the device and powered it back up and tried again? Is it redownloading the file each attempt you make?

I'm going to try factory resetting the phone tonight and then installing the OTA to see if that works. I'll report back what happens.

Where did you grab all the files? Which do you put in each slot?
I believe I got the file here. Unzip the download, and you'll find all 4 files. Each file begins with BL, AP, CSC, and etc, so you know where to put each file.

Sweet. Thanks
I tried to factory reset and then update, but it still failed. Thankfully I have a Samsung kiosk in my area, so I just went there and had them manually flash the update.

I think I deleted something through root manager, but the just of it, is I need to re-install the firmware. I tried to go through Kies but it can detect my device for some reason. I think I deleted the Kies through root manager as well so it might be the issue.
Does anyone have the .tar file for this so I could flash via Odin? Just want to go back to new outta the box. Oh, I also tried factory reset through settings and also in recovery. Doesn't restore the files I'm missing.
Maybe I'm making this harder than it is and just need a few missing files I deleted by mistake. The only issues Im having is everytime I restart my phone I have to reset my live wallpaper and reset Swiftkey as my default keyboard. Maybe there is a fix for that and then I wont have to worry about the firmware?
There is no tar as of yet. And if you did the OTA to MJ5 you cant use the one click through De la Vega

Right now it is impossible to flash firmware of any kind to a 900A. The bootloader is locked and until somebody figures out a way to unlock it, it is impossible to flash any ROM/Firmware to this device.
I am rooted on the Root De La Vega so I must be on the correct firmware.

If you can open your build.prop in /system it will tell you the firmware version at the top.

It appears that you can just flash the MI9 firmware since you aren't running MJ5. Can someone verify this? That would save you from having to go through all of the apks.
All you would need to do is flash the Oneclick from this thread.

Just hit yes and you will have still root. This is normal.
I click yes and nothing happens, phone reboots and update is still there.. Could the error bellow be relevant to why is not updating?
Thanks.

The update is still there possibly because it is not being installed properly. Download the latest from download.cyanogenmod.org and flash it manually from recovery. You will need to flash the supersu again if you didn't install the su backup script.
Got a problem here... Wanted to ota to 4.4 in my rooted, s-off on stock rom.
Flashed stock recovery and downloaded the Ota but it turns to red triangle as its installing.
My question is would this be happening due to having Xposed framework and having Flashed some zips for ad blocking and such? Any feedback is much appreciated!
Also, if that is the issue, would flashing an old backup work if that was prior to using Xposed and such?
Please help! Thanks!

Maybe. The ota might check what's in the system partitions such as apps and such and if there's anything that usually isn't there when the phone is stock it might not update. I asked on the Verizon forum if it's possible to update after deleting some system apps and they said no but I've never tried it.

I eventually was able to update. I restored a backup I did before root, right after unlocking bootloader.
also, I used an old stock recovery. I found the most recent stock recovery and used that and it worked. so still unsure what exactly caused my problems but using the latest stock recovery and using unmodified stock rooted rom worked.
thanks for the response though, much appreciated. definitely soft bricked my phone few times before getting it done. phew...
I've got the Note 4 N910T3
I rooted, via the beast kernal. Everything was going fine until I decided to factory reset (had a few programs go haywire)
factory reset went fine, I reinnitialized android with my google information. Rebooted the phone, and now I'm stuck at "custom binary blocked by frp"
It's my fault for not rechecking the option in developer settings, but its too late
I can get into download mode, but simply booting, or getting into recovery give me that error.
what can I do to get my phone booting?
Odin back to stock I guess?

I'm willing to give that a shot, but where would I go about finding the stock odin file? the only files I can seem to find are modded ones for the N910T, not the N910T3
Dont know if this link is legit, but check it out

That would be the factory reset protection, you need to odin the stock images back on, run through the setup as fast as possible, open developer options, and turn on OEM Unlocking. From there you can flash whatever you'd like. The FRP will also block insecure kernels, and recoveries from being loaded.
That's exactly what I did. And it worked. This just so happened to be the first and only phone I've had with frp. Learn something new everyday.

I am looking to return my tablet back to stock so I can watch Google movies. I have a wifi t710 tab2s. I have rooted it, installed a custom kernel, recovery, and rom. When I try to flash either one of these stock firmware 5.0.2_T710XXU1AOG5_T710XAR1AOG6_XAR.zip or 5.1.1_T710XXU1BOH7_T710XAR1BOH7_XAR.zip in Odin it fails.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

It's a tad annoying when people do that and don't explain how they fixed it so I'll try and elaborate on his behalf. :banghead:
Basically it seems he was attempting to flash the zips in Odin. Odin requires tar or md5 files. I'm guessing he realised he had to extract the tar from the zip file first then flash.
I hope it was something else cause I have extracted the zips

Yea, I should of explained how I did it. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly how I did it. I believe I ended up using Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung Kies 3 to return it back to stock. There is an Emergency phone recovery option in both programs that will restore your device back to stock.
When I plug it into smart switch it says not recognized.
