Exchange account - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

OK, I am running Lollipop (muniz, SafeStrap method). Rooted stock. I have my email running on an app called CloudMagic, which works well with my work Exchange account.
I want to have my work calendar on my phone, but when I go to Settings-Accounts there is no Exchange account. I tried adding one, but it said I could not add the account through Settings.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Does CloudMagic app support Calender Sync? If yes enable it.
Other option is to get Exchange apk (attached) and install it on your phone. I have done this to add my work email in gmail.

Thanksforallthereplies. I downloaded the apk file and installed it, but it made no difference in my settings or anything else.
Cloud Magic does support exchange, and works fine. My problem is with the exchange calendar.

Exchange Calendar working
OK, I got my work calendar (MS Exchange) working on my S5 finally. I will post here what I had to do. I hope it helps someone.
Starting point: I use both PI (Personal Informant) and Business Calendar on my phone. PI has been my default calendar through several phones and ROMs. I also had the MyPhoneExplorer client installed.
I installed the MyPhoneExplorer client on my PC at work, connected my phone (used WiFi, could have used USB)
Sync'ed the calendar from Outlook 2013 to my calendar, including my additional calendars.
At this point, my Outlook calendars appeared in PI, but not Business Calendar
I opened Business Calendar and went to the calendar settings and ticked 'My Calendar'
Voila, Outlook calendars on my phone.

[Q] How to sync with outlook?

I got XP SP3, and Outlook 2007 SP 2.
Used Kies to sync phone with Outlook.
Result? It erased all outlook contacts/calender items, and non got synced to phone. Tried a bunch of times, each time it did the same.
How do I sync?
Not sure about using Kies, I havn't tried it, however google has built in outlook calendar into gmail now, not sure if this will do contacts though it might just be calendar?

i synced Outlook to Gmail account
then sync the phone with Gmail account

problem is google sync is blocked by firewall.
Guess I would have to export things from outlook, import at another PC, then use google sync. What a hassle, I would really like updated calendar events.
Here's an idea: do you run Outlook as standalone, or is Exchange running as the email server with Outlook as the client-side application?
If Exchange is running, have you looked at this, on the handset:
Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> then press Add Account ->More Accounts -> Corporate
You then get a screen which lets you set up an account which syncs to Exchange.
I haven't tried this, since I use Outlook running against a different email server. Maybe it will be the solution for you.
here is another great alternative

Don't you have to export the Outlook contacts to a file, and then import it into the phone? From what I see in Kies, that's the only way to get things started.

In Outlook you run File -> Export, and save the data to a .csv file. Kies is looking for a file like this.
The "sync with outlook" button is for syncing in the other direction: from the Galaxy S to Outlook.

no wonder it deleted all my contacts, and talk about illogical.
Sync is a 2 way street, not one way!
Clicking the open file button in Kies, causes Kies to halt, doesn't seem like it likes mapped network drives.
*sigh*
Ragnar, I don't think that Kies is the best software to accomplish the contacts syncing. I imagine you are dealing with a company email server, perhaps running Exchange?
I gave up on Kies for this task. I am now using Synthesis, a SyncML client, to do an over-the-air sync. There is a 30-day free licence and then one has to buy it. You can also try Funambol, which is free. Of course, using a SyncML client demands that the email server must be running a SyncML server.
Probably you can try "Android Manager-WIFI"? It's free but it only supports wireless data connection with PC, no USB version. It can help to synchronize Outlook contacts/Calendar. Google "Android Manager-WIFI" and you shall find the free download from a manufacturer called Mobile Action. Hope this will help.
Yes, Android Manager WiFi is good, however, Android 2.2 is not complete supported this function now.
It might be under development.
Anyway, it is really good!

Everytime exchange sync for gmail returns authentication failed

Hey guys,
Anyone of your experienced such problem?
I create an exchange activesync account for google. and then input all the information correctly such as the server name, username, password,
Then I select sync mail, calendar, contact, and push. After click finish, it always returns "authentication failed"
Anyone know what's going on?
Probably u have to enter a captcha trough the website (this can be done from a pc) or you have the wrong credentials.
Edit: or your internet doesn't allow you to connect, (business firewall?)
Edit 2: Google is no exchange, just use the default Google account option.

This does not work either. I have just purchased a HTC Desire S and cannot get a Google Apps working through either IMAP or Exchange.
Infact, any time I have tried to add an account via. Exchange I see that error message (Hotmail/Google Apps account).
It seems that imap.google.com is down from my limited tests, and I would want exchange support.
What gives, is the Mail client on the Gingerbread phones broke?
Cheers

I don't think you can connect through Google Mail via Exchange. Exchange is only meant for connecting to MS Exchange servers.
You have the following two choices:
- Either run the standard GMail client.
- Or run the standard Mail Client and connect via IMAP.
What exactly do you mean when you say you want "Exchange Support"? If you want Exchange support, you should look at Exchange-based email services.
BTW, I have no issues connecting to GMail's through IMAP using the default email client nor do I have issues with connecting through the GMail client.
Thanks for your reply.
Actually gmail can be accessed via exchange. As I used before in iOS. You can find it under the webpage of google/sync.
There's explicit tutorial for ios user to set up an exchange server for gmail. The mails is pushed to the client rather than retrieving them every certain time.
server is: m.google.com
user name: [email protected]
password: xxxx
cheers

That's using Google Sync (Google Sync uses the MS Exchange Activesync protocol) for the iPhone. One the Incredible S (as on the other Android phones), you do not need to use Google Sync to get push email (in fact I don't think Google Sync is available for Android phones). All you need to do is set up your Google Account and have it sync the calendar, phone book and email and you'll have everything working.
I'm not sure why you want to go via the iPhone(Exchange) route when there's a simpler (and more native way) of getting your Google mail set up with your Android phone.
Thanks man.
I know I can get push gmail from the built-in app. But what I want is to receive all my mails in just one app. Cuz I have 4 email account, which includes my school account, department account, and others, while I still want to get my gmail pushed.
Thanks for your explanation, that makes sense. I also live in Victoria, lol

The in-built google account does not seem to work for Google Apps accounts? as in anything that doesn't end in @gmail etc?
If I try the imap settings, I get an error message saying that the phone cannot connect to the server?
That is using "imap.google.com". Should the phone accept google apps accounts through the native google account provider?
And Android does work fine with Google Sync, at least it does on the Galaxy S I have.
Cheers,
MiG

It does work as I have my Google Apps account working with both the GMail and standard mail client.
When you set up your Google account, ensure that the sync for mail is on. That should set it up to work with your GMail client.

Just tried this. It says the username/password is not recognised through the built-in GMail App.....
Are there any settings I have to enable?
Most people missing the point here though? I too want to use the HTC Mail client (as I'll be honest, GMail client sucks) and IMAP only does mail, most of the time it syncs just fine using m.google.com but sense 2.1 (and 3.0) regularly get auth error's, and only go back to push mail when that's cleared or you launch the mail app to set the sync off again. It's deffo a sense issue as sense 2.0 Roms dont have the issue. It's seems to do with the way HTC have implemented their ActiveSync V14.x protocol stuff or how Google have (as sense 2.1/3 both try v14.1 first, then fail back to 12.x)
Hey ho, might dig around a bit more as there is some errors in the logs, might be able to track it down, might also ping a question over to HTC.
Seem to have fixed it, and it's a easy (if odd) fix,
Login on PC to GMail (or app for domain in my case) and change your password, change it on phone
All sorted... Dont ask me why?
So i tried a lot of things and nothing worked also hard reset, chang password from gmail account.
it´s only with the gmail all other email provider are working find and fo me i don´t like to have 2 email app´s because gmalapp is working fine but the i have to use the other app for my work and i don´t prefer it.
hope anybody can help.
incredible s
v. 2.3.3
Guys, the thing is, the default gmail app is HIDEOUS with no pinch to zoom, it f's up formatting in portrait, and is just really low quality.
The HTC mail app looks A LOT better, but problem is, if you don't set gmail up as Exchange, it fails cause it won't push.

[Q] PC/Outlook Sync App?

I was looking for a good App which would sync with Outlook (Contacts and Calendar, at least). I found two good candidates in the market, Android Sync Manager and MyPhoneExplorer. The former looks to also sync other items, which would also be nice to have.
Anybody have any experience with either of these, or any other apps which will sync to PC, that work on the gTab (running Vegan 1.5.1)?
Since you have to have a google account to use the market, why not use your google calendar and google calendar sync?
Install the software on your desktop to sync your outlook calendar to google calendar and then use whatever app you want on your gtablet to view and edit the google calendar. Changes are synced back to your outlook via the google calendar sync application.
Well, I suppose you have a point, that should work for the basics.
But it seems Android Sync Manager can sync other things, like files, etc.

The problem with that for some of us is that Google has not bothered to update their sync tool to work with 64-bit Outlook 2010.
Real shame too because the 3rd party apps for it suck unless you want to spend too much money for what you get.

The built in email app on Android won't sync with Outlook, however, you can duplicate the connection that Outlook is making. That being said, many companies won't let you connect to their email system for various reasons, which forces you to manually sync to your desktop version of Outlook. Which, of course, defeats the purpose for which they originally forbade you.

Well, I have POP mail for my personal email, so while the built in will get the email fine, it will not get my contacts nor my calendar, which are all stored locally on my PC in Outlook.
So I looked into the Google apps. Unless I'm missing something, it appears you can sync email and calendar, but that their sync contacts is just for business users. Is that right?

[Q] Exchange calendar sync

Hi,
I'm using modaco FR15 default rom
I can add a exchange account, In my calendar I have my gmail account events, but not my exchange account events.
When I go to sync menu, I click on sync calendar, seems to work but no events show up on phone.
Which app should I replace for have it to work?
Thanks
no1 using exchange calendar ?
My exchange syncing works perfectly (apart from phone turning itself off! ). Sorry - were you sure to tick them, in the Exchange Account Sync settings (go into LG Email, into settings, choose the account, and then in "Sync item" make sure calendar is checked.
Edit: Sorry, I read too quickly that you're on FR15 - so you may not have LG Email app.
I have the same problems. I´ve decided to use TouchDown Exchange app. And it works fine. But one problem, it is not free :-(
But you can download trial version for 30 days.
One dummy question: where can i find type of my ROM?
Found the solution :
If you disabled the automatic synchronization (and then you want to synchronize only when you click on it (= doing it manually)) it won't work.
You have to let automatic synchronization and it works. I got my exchange + gmail calendars in the same time.
Good to know - thanks for letting us know. I guess you can always set the automatic sync period to 12 hours, if you want to protect your battery.
Well if I want to sync my Exchange Calender (Exchange Server 2003 Ent.) then the LG Mail Client (which syncs the Exchange mail) crashes on opening a mail).. Calender items do not get synchronized too. The little round sync arrows turn round but stop and then no sync??
Someone got a solution for that (except for buying an app??).
Hi guys
I‘m new here. I just want to ask how to exchange facebook. I mean to have all birthdays from my facebook contacts in my phone calender.
I know that is possible. But how.
Facebook is sinchronized.

[Q] [CM9]How to sychronize calendar of exchange?

You can do this by going to Settings -> Accounts & Sync
Then Add Account, and choose Corporate. Fill in all the information, and Edit Details to specify things that are not auto detected.
Once the account is created click on the account and choose which options to synchronize and then doing a manual Sync. Then you will be able to access your calendar from the standard Calendar app by going into Settings for the Calendar app and choosing which accounts to use.
I just ran through the process real quickly and that is what I did. However, I do use the Touchdown application for my Exchange access which has everything built into one app.
Hope this helps.
i know that settings, but it does not work in cm9 rom
I too wasn't able to get my corporate exchange calendar to sync or show up as an option to select on any calendar app with cm9 build 4 or 5.
I did however find an exchange client that works great, Enhanced e-mail ( by Qunatum Apps). It cost $10, but worth it for me because it also removed the required lockscreen password.
I think the best Exchange client by far is Touchdown. Their support is exceptional, too!

Touchdown definitely seems to be an overall better exchange client and has features I haven't found in Enhanced Email, such as looking up contacts from the server. I just wanted to try and see if an exchange client would work and I had already tried both touchdown and moxy. I didn't want to spend $20 to find out a third party app would not correct the issue, so I figured I'd try the cheaper $10 Enhanced E-mail.
Either way I'm sure this issue will be corrected in the upcoming builds. Other than this I haven't had any issues build 5.
it seems that the calendar of version alpha#6 still does not work
