Firmware files SBF for Moto X - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i'm about to root my Moto X 2014. But I know sometime in a near future I would like to unroot it. But for that, I need the SBF file for XT1097. Is there somewhere I can download it or, create one myself with my phone? Thanks!

Update&Flash other carriers' roms on unlocked&root Puerto Rico Moto X(XT1058)?
Since AT&T and other carriers had pulled out, some fellows came across with boot loop issues.
I want to ask if there is an update rolls on PR version XT1058, should I restore to stock recovery and unroot it?(Unlocked,CWM,Root alreday)
Also, anybody knows what is going on the PR version of MotoX? What is its carrier?
It seems the same as the AT&T model QUOTE "AT&T to expand in Latin America with America Movil deal | Reuters"
The ebay seller told me the sim unlock code was sent by AT&T, but he didn't show me the proof.
Is it mean that flashing at&t updated rom on PR moto x is available?
Thanks in advance.
Also thumb up for the fellows help me to get my phone rooted!
I always thought PR moto x is sold by Claro

How did you flash it? RSDLite? Fastboot? What image? Whole FXZ or just kernel? Were you able to reflash the original image back?

Yes you can as long as you unlock your bootloader first and the ATT firmware that you're going to flash is higher than the one that's on your phone.
But I wouldn't recommend doing it because the ATT firmware is full of bloatware and I think WiFi tethering is disabled on it if I'm not mistaken.
I would recommend flashing the Retail US (TMO) firmware instead because it is a Retail image which is bloatware free and has everything enabled. It is designed for the XT1053 so you might lose an LTE band or two (5 and 7 to be precise), but it's fully compatible with the XT1058 and you would be able to connect to LTE using bands 2, 4 and 17.

[Q] Flashing ATT Kitkat firmware over Rogers device?

Can anyone see any issues with flashing an ATT kitkat variant atop a Rogers device?
Thanks in advance!
Yes I can see an issue: You're having a rogers device. Never flash anything on your phone that isnt specifically made for it.
You can usually flash a custom rom no matter which carrier you have. But never use roms that are made for different devices/carriers.

I am using T-Mobile kitkat on my Rogers motox with unlocked bootloader. I don't have any issue so far, but keep in mind, you must understand the risk of flashing other carrier rom
Sent from my XT1053 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Unlock the boot loader and flash the AT&T 4.4 rom, it will work just fine. It is possible you could lose band 7(2600mhz) LTE as it may not be enabled in the AT&T firmware. You can easily go back to Rogers firmware if you decide it isn't for you.
I'm using the AT&T 4.4 on a Rogers Moto X, using it with Koodo, works great!
Thanks a lot guys! I'll give it a shot.

Yes, it works just fine. I have it running on my spare Moto X.
No provider name in the upper left. If you flash the entire bundle it will most likely disable band 7 LTE, I have no way to verify that right now though. For some reason I find the AT&T 4.4 works better and gives better battery life. It could just be my imagination though, or it may be because the modem file matches the hardware perfectly.

Yes, I've done the full flash using the retail file with rsdlite. You will get LTE with that firmware, but it may only work on the AWS band. You would need to do some testing to see if it used Band 7 LTE (2600 mhz). I don't have a Rogers account so I can't check. I know the original 4.4 leak from AT&T had 2600 mhz disabled, so I figure other versions may as well.

Unlock your bootloader and then follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446515
You can use the dev edition/retail/tmobile edition firmware or even the AT&T 4.4 firmware. I recommend the dev edition though, no branding or bloatware at all.
I am using the dev edition firmware on my Rogers XT1058, using it with Koodo.

No specific instructions but you must have a unlocked boot loader. Here's a good thread in how to use rsdlite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446515 . You can use either the at&t or T-Mobile sbf firmware, the at&t firmware has more bloat than the T-Mobile version

Yep, we had suspected that 4.4.3 patched the exploits. We pretty much KNOW that 4.4.4 is completely immune to them. It was worth a shot though... :/
Thanks for the confirmation. Just for reference, which variant do you have?

You -could- attempt to downgrade, but realize that it is NOT ADVISED, and you CAN/WILL Likely brick your device, either now or in the future.
If I can't talk you out of it, whatever you do, DO NOT flash gpt.bin or motoboot.img from the 4.4.2 SBF.
If you downgrade anyways (ignoring our advice) and it works, realize that if you accept an OTA in the future, you will likely brick at that point.
If you are successful, you probably will be able to root using the new exploit, but DO NOT recommend other users to do it! (You don't want to be responsible for others' bricking their devices, right?)
[End Rant]
Good Luck.

Dude!!!! I wish I noticed this earlier, but if you have an XT1053, (and not XT1058), you can UNLOCK the BOOTLOADER, for FREE on Motorola's Website!!!
Unlocking the BL is far superior to -any- of these 'exploits'. It will allow you to have PERMANENT root, even on the latest (and future) updates.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Gosh, I hope you didn't actually try to downgrade.....if you did try, you should download the ENTIRE 4.4.3 SBF, flash back to 100% stock 4.4.3, and unlock your BL. Then flash TWRP custom recovery, and it will root your device for you. Its that easy.
Write protect will be disabled too! So you can write to /system, and root will be persistent. (You DON'T get that using any of the exploits)
Good Luck!!! :good:

bootloader (motoboot.img) might not have changed, but partition table (GPT.BIN) did. so the brick risk is there.
As @samwathegreat mentioned, since you have the XT1053, you can get your bootloader unlock code directly from Moto's web site and easily root after unlocking your bootloader, no matter what Moto ROM should be on your phone. (even 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, and future).
The only thing... If you have a real Dev Edition (says Developer Edition on the back, has a black face, woven white back) XT1053, unlocking the bootloader does not void your warranty. If you have any other XT1053 just requesting the code to unlock your bootloader DOES void the warranty.

Yeah, I was confused as well. "dev" could mean "developer", OR "device"?
Also confusing is that the XT1053 is NOT an AT&T device at all! (Although it CAN be used on AT&T - it's not an AT&T-branded device....which would be the XT1058).
?!?
Just use this guide.....first the unlocking your bootloader section. Then the root unlocked bootloader section.
Easy.

It is SIM-Unlocked already, yes. This means you can use it on T-Mobile, AT&T, or any other GSM carrier.
It is NOT bootloader unlocked until you follow the steps in the link @KJ Posted. It IS Bootloader-unlockABLE, but you must do the steps (request code & use fastboot to unlock) in order to get it "Boot-Loader unlockED".
See: "What Devices Can Unlock Their Bootloader" in the thread @KJ linked you to.

And you didn't read the part just above that! Take a look closely at the UNLOCKED bootloader section... as it says...
"Don't know if your bootloader can be unlocked? See Post 70"
If you followed that advice, you'd have had your answer and not needed to ask the question.
It contains a little background so you can understand, then a link/info to Moto's site which has pretty much the same info/steps in the link @Megatron007 supplied to unlock the bootloader... and even says how to root after you've unlocked the bootloader.

No update has been push out for my version of the X tho. It makes no since why they tell me to contact my carrier, because mine doesn't, have a carrier logo on the back nor does one come up when you turn it on. The system version says something about acg.
