Just updated to lollipop and now I'm getting the red underline spellcheck thats keyboard/app independent. Is there a way to turn this off? From what I can tell there should be an option under language and input for spellcheck but it seems like samsung took it out...
It's got to be one of your apps or maybe a keyboard you've installed. Cause I'm on stock keyboard and do not have any red lines

I am having this issue. Flashed to 1.93 ROM and I have noticed when I am typing a SMS message using Full QWERTY (Compact as well) a black stripe occurs on the top of the keyb. It is displaying words as I am typing them.
I have tried to disable all T9 settings and word completion but no luck.
I find it quite annoying because keyb is half the size of the display and that black stripe is taking some space as well - making it even worse as you see your text almost in 1/3 of the screen only.
Any hints?
Found the reason
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2534766&postcount=26
uninstalled the dialer and it is back to normal.
But now I have that annoying video call instead of contact as a soft button in phone.
Update: black bar/preview disabled while SMS writing but it keeps appearing in other apps when I am typing text.
Anyone found a way to disable the bar/preview?
Hi, did anyone find a way to disable the bar/preview? The Manila Dialer didn't make a difference, mine (UK HTC Touch Diamond) has a different version again. Thanks guys.
can't you just disable predictive text?

That is disabled. None checked.
That's why I was asking bcause I thought it is some special settings.
Update: I finally figured it out. Text prediction + T9 are disabled in settings, however this doesn't override individual settings in applications. You need to use that small slider between ABC-T9 on OSK to disable it.
Why when I set something in settings then I have to set it again :-(
Hello
If you want to hide the notification manager screen, in order to show batery status, sound volume.... when you hit taskbar
delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER
other tips here : http://htc-touch-diamond.forumactif.../astuces-diverses-diamond-2-t12018.htm#145527 (french forum)
It is recommeded to backup the registery setting before you delete it.
Good tip!
when i try to delet the key it says "access denied" - how comes?
Maybe is it in use?
may be. but how not use it? even if i disable touch flo it is still active.

Just delete every item under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER
this is exactly what i tried when i got the hint "no access"
I started my D2 in safemode (with Safemode or PocketPlus) and then i could successfully delete this registry branch.
After doing that I noticed that the green light is not blinking anymore when there is a SMS or MMS....

Great! No more disturbing for your quality life.
I don't know, if my device states (or stated) new sms or mms by blinking lights because I never looked at it.
As you can see I did search this topic...can't even find an answer on google. Which worries me...
Often, I'll swipe down from the notification bar which turns the app I'm viewing, if capable, into a multi window view. This is incredibly annoying. Coming from the Note 4, there was a quick toggle (or in settings) to turn this off. I can not seem to find how to turn this function off with the S6. Any help out there?
I was just going to post the same question How the hell do you turn off that annoying multi view crap?
I wanna know this as well and how do I turn off the lightof the back and the cent button also?

I mean the back button and recent button, it lights up as soon as you touch the screen, there was an option to turn this off in S5.

I think I saw some settings for it in "/data/data/<settings provider, whatever its called>/ <blah>.db" (can't remember the exact name). So if you have root and sqlLite Editor you might try looking there
UPDATE: this database is the one I'm talking about:
then click on Data
Then click Data Aagin
Then Click com.android.providers.settings
then click Databases
CLick Settings
Click System

I do have root...so this will take remove the multi window? Considering we just got twrp I may just wait for a custom ROM lol
I found the new MultiWindow gesture pretty annoying. On my S6 every time I swept down on the notification bar using one hand I'd always create a floating window. On other Galaxy devices there is a Quick Toggle to turn the MultiWindow feature off/on. The ability to control the feature is still in the S6 however it is not exposed in the user interface. I wrote a small application that can either enable/disable MultiWindow or bring back the MultiWindow Quick Toggle. It was primarily written for the Galaxy S6 however it should work on most of the devices that include Samsung's MultiWindow. Look for "MultiWindow Toggle for Samsung" on the Play Store.

Works perfectly. Thank you very much
Is there any way to disable this, or bypass it with a tasker script or something?
I use android auto mirroring, and want to see my launcher screen.
Now every time i see android auto lockscreen, and have to swipe every time.
If anyone has any way to solve this..
I believe can be done with tasker but i haven't much experience.
If i made it i will post it.
This was really annoying on my S9+. On my S10+, the screen only pops up once. After dismissing it, it doesn't return. Not sure if it's a One UI thing or a Pie update, but I'm not complaining.
The latest update to Android Auto allows you to completely disable the screen lock. You're welcome!

Strange... I could've sworn I didn't see that option yesterday on the same version. But it's there now and it works!
It could be stranger.....
I Have 2 Samsung s7, on is Original the Otter one is with Root.
On the Original one the Option to Switch off is possible, on the rootet one there is no Switcher for this Option........
Trying to solve.
Am I wrong or the option to lock phone while driving is only set to display/not display a black screen with android auto logo?
Here if I switch it on/off it's only thing that it does.
Even not locking my phone I am still greeted with my own Phone's lock screen.
I think that the solution for this is to simply disable your phone option to lock after some minutes or even make it's screen always on within developer options.
Hello,
i have the problem, that one phone from me, does not disappear the "swipe to unlock" screen.
I have deaktivate the Option "Lock phone while driving", but it does not.
I have two phones:
Moto G4 Plus: without android-lockscreen and rooted
Samsung Galaxy S7: with pin-lockscreen and no root
When i deactivate it by the Samsung, no Problem, screen is not showing.
But at the Moto, i have no chance, i have set pin-code lockscreen and hiding root with magisk, no chance.
Have anyone a idea?
Thanks.
Hello, for all that have the same problem:
The Tasker-Function "System lock" not only does the screen off, this funktion set the Android Auto Lockscreen on, even if no display lock is active in the Androidsettings!
So last night everything on my Google chrome was fine. Was set up just the way I like it. All functions such as the homepage button and setting were accessible at the top of the screen.
Well something changed over night. Now I've a hideous function bar at the bottom of the page
As you can see in my before photo, everything was located at the top of my screen all nice and neat.
In the after photo is what's going on now with the bar at the bottom of the page with all the feature buttons.
I didn't do any updates the night before. Just woke up this morning and was greeted with some unwelcome changes.
Have any of you noticed this too?
How can I go back to everything being at the top of the screen?
Thanks
So I just did an uninstall of updates, reinstall and everything is back to normal. But before I did that I checked a couple of other phones with current updates and they all didn't have the issue of the home, share tab and menus bar at the bottom.
What would cause this to happen over night?
I didnt update nor mess with any settings the night before.

Somehow experimental features we're enabled for you. I enabled them for myself when I first installed chrome
Chrome://flags
Search for duet
It's a new feature that's still in testing. I love it, been using it for weeks.
Also search for "dark" and you can force dark more on all website's (currently this feature inverts picture colors until you two to view that picture).
And there are also new tab switching tweaks. Here is how my browser looks on news.google.com. (xda has a dark more feature so that wouldn't be a good comparison)

I actually enabled enabled experimental features the 1st week I got my phone, when the note 9 came out. The only feature I enabled then was the home key/tab function. Maybe the devs did something to cause my issue to activate on its own?
Also, never really was interested in the dark mode until I saw your pics included with your comment. Pretty sweet! I'm kinda tired of my eyes bugging out every so often. Maybe this will help!
Thanks for your response and input!

I still cant help wondering how that setting was enabled. You'd have to physically goto the the experimental page and select the setting correct?
And nobody but me uses this phone.
