Keeps saying my phone is up to date...I havent got the new ota though.
Do I need my sim in for att to let my phone have the update? I tried going back to stock with odin, but then put my sim in another phone to use. So the gs6 edge is only wifi.
this is the only reason I restored to stock, to grab the ota, now its saying my phone is already up to date.
any help would be appreciated...thanks
found my answer...i reset the phone and put my sim in and it started the update this time.
guess you have to have an active sim in?
I've had an active SIM in the phone since I received it, and it still won't show that I have an update. It just keeps saying I have the latest version, and then I have to wait another 24 hours to check again.

Stock rooted rom, gsm radio on, TMO sim card installed. Everytime I try to update my phone, it tells me that I need to be a member of Motorola Services. But when I go through the motions to sign up, the system wont let me connect.
Did I screw up my phone and not realize it somewhere.
Also a side note. Everytime I disconnect from wifi, I get a download icon that says "Download suspended. Will resume shortly..."
Don't think you are going to be able to take OTA while running a TMO sim. Have you looked through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297714
Yup, read every page. Un-rooted, return to complete stock, put VZ sim card back in. Still no joy. Still tells me I need to be a member of Motorola services. Cheesecake does the same thing. I'm about ready to use Dragon to put a few holes through the phone.
Is there still not a flashable zip update for the G870A? I've got a Cricket SIM in mine and it says I'm on the latest version, 5.1.1. I've also tried putting an AT&T GoPhone SIM in it (not in service though), with WiFi connected, and still get the same message. The SIM says it's connected to the AT&T network, so I figured that plus WiFi could get me somewhere. My phone is stock and unrooted.
you are on PB6??
I can't recall off hand.. It was the first build of 5.1.1 released I believe... It was a manual update through recovery. I will check the threads on here to see if I can find it. I want to say it's PB1.
Edit:
Ok so I was way off lol. I'm on OJ3. I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/help/update-s5-active-5-0-to-5-1-1-of3-to-t3324312
Hi. My fiance has the G900A galaxy s5 and it will not update. Its on 5.0 lollipop. Ive been trying to update it to marshmallow for months now and it won't. It always says software is up to date. It has enough room to update cause I know marshmallow is a big file. Does anyone here know why it won't update?
Its never been rooted or tampered with at all.
Anybody??
I'm having the same issue
I'm having the same issue, however, my daughter's ATT S5 is on Tmo. I put an ATT SIM in it yesterday and it showed the update available, but won't pull it down because we can't turn on her WiFi. I wiped the phone and restarted and still cannot turn on WiFi. Now I'm looking for a way to run the OTA update over ADB.
I had a similar issue. I missed one or two previous OTA updates and found that my phone would not update to 6.0 Marshmellow. AT&T store could not assist and was referred to Samsung employee at Bestbuy whose kiosk happened to be not working. I tried with Odin, Kies, and Samsung Sync all of which do not work since ATT does not supply them with their firmwares. They all just showed my phone as up to date. I found a thread on how to manually update via emergency mode. I followed the directions and downloaded the firmware. Dropped the file into my external sd card, named it update.zip, and rebooted in emergency mode. I was able to update with one of the in between firmware and after that then allowed me to use the OTA. I am on an ATT S5 active. I bet you would need to do something similiar since you're still on 5.0. I believe there was 2-3 in-between updates before the latest.

Updated do not show up unless a valid AT&T SIM is in the phone. For some reason it checks to see if you have a valid AT&T service account before accepting the request to connect to the OTA update server. You will not get an update otherwise.
A few days after updating my phone to Nougat, my phone restarted itself, and after the restart, a security error showed up saying "This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked", and after unlocking the phone a screen came up saying that my device has been network locked and it can be unlocked using the device unlock app, and the invalid sim card error.
I was never rooted or anything like that, my phone had received OTA updates. I did not master reset, but I rebooted many times, and the error message appeared on every boot, but disappeared after a while allowing me to use my phone. And now, although the error doesn't seem to appear anymore, i still can't use my network, and when I checked the IMEI, it had changed to 350000000000006, and the one on the back is different.
Is there any possible way to fix this without sending this phone back to Samsung/T-Mobile for exchange, because I had bought this phone from USA but brought it to Pakistan, and Samsung Pakistan says that they would charge me for the repairs ( I still haven't visited them, they told this to me through mail).
HELP PLEASE?
Bump?
Have you tried using Samsung Smart Switch?

I didn't try Samsung Smart Switch, but I had reflashed it using Odin, and tried a factory reset and it didn't fix it, i got it fixed through Z3X box.
This happened to me also.

I had taken in to a repair shop who had a Z3X box. That's the only way to get it fixed. He downgraded my phone to Marshmallow and re-flashed the cert. I live in Pakistan and that costed my Rs.1000 (i.e. $10). Make sure you take your phone's box with you as a proof of purchase because changing IMEIs is illegal in many places.
P.S. I can't upgrade to Nougat now, if I will, the phone won't register to the network.

Thanks mate. I also live in Pakistan - Lahore. I took my phone to Hafeez center and they charged me 1500. Now the phone is on Marshmallow. I'm receiving notification of update. I've tried 3 times but if failed to install. When I tap on update it downloads the OS which is about 1.3GB. then restarts to install but it fails when reaches 30%.
Can you please tell me why we can't update our phones. I'm using another s6 which is also of T-mobile and it's running fine on nougat.

Not sure about that but we can't update because probably our CERT files have been patched in EFS is messed, I got it done back in July 2017, and at that time, the guy who repaired it said that they didn't have Z3X's software update for Nougat, so they had to downgrade my phone to Marshmallow, and the patch they used won't work on Nougat. Don't know about yours though, maybe he used an updated patch or a different tool, you can ask that guy whether if its safe for you to update to Nougat or not, if he allows it, then try flashing Nougat through Odin, if it doesn't work you'll have to get it patched by him again. Don't update if he doesn't allow, otherwise he won't patch it again without extra charges, and if he allows that and something goes wrong you can blame him for that

Note 8 is unlocked and currently with T-MOBILE, previously AT&T. I've search all day today and still can't find why I don't have the Oreo update yet. I have the Samsung keis software and it tells me I'm up to date. Did it ever come out for my baseband? I apologized in advance if this was already talked about, I only saw discussions about it being rooted. I want to keep it stock. Thanks

You can check for latest firmware related to your specific model on sammobile.com, then download through updato.com (or using the SamFirm tool) and flash it through Odin.

Since you're using it with T-Mobile and it was previously AT&T you're not going to get updates anymore unless you use an AT&T sim card.. The only way to get the updates at this point is to download the update firmware yourself and flash it through odin. The reason being is because T-Mobile doesn't carry AT&Ts firmware updates so you have to get it yourself.. It's easy as hell to find the firmware on places like Android File Host. Also do not download T-Mobile firmware it will not flash... Use AT&Ts firmware only.
I have a AT&T iPhone 7 from work, you guys think if I take that SIM and put it into the Note 8 the updates would come through? I was looking through the Sam mobile thing. You guys make it seem easy to manually update and I'm terrified being my first time doing it that way. But if you think the SIM card swap would work I'll give that a try first.

The sim card swap should work.. Can't hurt, try it and then check for updates.
It worked!!!
I swapped out the sim cards and it worked!
I ended up having to back up the device and restore, since the update wasn't showing up. I cleared the cache, checked and nothing. After restoring the phone the update became available. After the 8.0.0. update there was about 4 updates after (security patches). I'm now on 8.0.0 with Aug 2018 security patch. I put my tmobile sim card back in and restarted the phone. I even get the tmobile screen during boot up which I never gotten since I switched back in February. All in all it's working fine. I'll update if anything crops up. Thank you all for your help!
You can push software update with this procedure.
put this in your phone app: *#8736364#
Then go to Field Test mode.
Change "Device Initiated date" to one or a few minute ahead. wait until you see "SET" then press Home.
Wait until you see software update to kick it.
Try several times if it doesn't work at first.
