I purchased an unlocked, unbranded i9305 S3 LTE and have not been able to back up the NV Data.
I tried this with it completely stock and even though I have tried both settings with DM in Qualcomm USB settings and the port is found in QPST it always says 'No Phone'.
After trying this on several computers, I then installed Clockwork Recovery Mod and Rooted the phone successfully, and still had no luck connecting with QPST with the same 'No phone' message.
I also tried using EFS Pro and the Qualcomm NV Tools, the phone says at first it is connected but the program freezes and then says the phone has disconnected. I tried unticking 'Read Phone version information' and it connects. But as soon as I try to read any data the Rx Tx indicators flash a couple of times in the app and then I get the same Phone disconnected message.
Can anyone help? I have searched here and online and found lots of similar cases but no solutions...
Thank you very much in advance.
Stock ROM 4.1.2
CWM 6.0.2.9
Baseband version I9305BVBLL2
Kernel Version 3.0.31-633241

-------------- SOLUTION -------------------
I managed to work out the solution!
Dial *#9090# and ensure that you have DM/DUN over HSIC selected.
Phone rebooted and was found!

I don't own this phone but are you sure you have a Qualcomm processor? From these 2 pages:
http://www.morecellphone.com/phones/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-gt-i9305/304
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9305_galaxy_s_iii-5001.php
it should have an exynos processor, so those qualcomm tools won't work. (think qualcomms are just some specific models)
Can't you just get into some custom recovery, adb to it from your computer (or terminal emulator) and 'dd' an image from the /efs partition out of it (needs root)?
How i did it:
Opened terminal emulator and typed "mount" to check my mounts. Looked up the one that had /efs on it. It should also say something like "/dev/block/mmcblk0p3" (this is the one on mine, use whatever you got from "mount"). Then do something like:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/sdcard/efs.img
where the "/sdcard" is the directory where you want your efs image to go. Then you just need to copy the efs.img file to a safe place and you're done.
If you need to recover just do the opposite
su
dd if=/sdcard/efs.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3
Careful with the "if" "of" order, and with what you type. dd is a powerful command and it's easy to screw up irreversibly if you overwrite a different partition by accident.
Another method, I've manually copied /efs file contents with root explorer to my sdcard and later to my computer and was able to use them to recover my phone (had an app wiping my /efs by accident).
This is how i did on mine and worked but i've heard those qualcomm's (if you really have one) have a different method and what i'm saying may simply not apply
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately even though it does not have a Qualcomm processor it does use this chipset for the modem I believe.
I've been following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915 but not having any luck. The phone is fine but it is not recognised correctly in QPST or EFS Pro....

Dear XDA,
First of all, a merry xmas!:good:
For me, not so . Yesterday i got my phone back from the repairshop. At that moment i had a custom rom (viperrom) downloaded. When i got it back i found out i had the bug where you have no audio when calling, so i downloaded and installed a tweak that would solve it. It did not work. So my next step was to reinstall my rom. I fully wiped my data, cache, OS etc... MISTAKE. I deleted my romfile from the phone aswell. So now, i am stuck in the TWRP/recovery mode.
Now i want to just put another romfile on the phone, but my computer doenst reconigze my phone anymore. It says unknown device. I already downloaded the right driver on htc.com but still no connection. A friend of mine says it has to do something with my computer isnt seeing that my phone is still a mass storage device because i deleted those files that makes it a mass storage device..
Do you guys have another way to add a new rom file to my phone?

If no See post 2 FAQ 2 here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
when your phone and PC see each other
you push a rom to your phone and install it
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
just be sure the rom.zip is named correctly and in the same folder as adb
Hi,
A colleague of mine give me his Sony Xperia T (with Cyanogen 11 4.4.4) installed.
Because there is a bug with multiples calendars that are not synchronized (synchronized once, when configuring the account), I upgrade to CM 12 Lollipop.
After upgrading, a reset factory, installing Google Apps via recovery mode, I encounter two problems :
- All is working good with my home WIFI but not my Network WIFI (My computer is connected to this wifi network right now). I don't see it in the list of WIFI on my phone, but i See the others networks.
- When I want to use the camera, it says that I must install an SD card first... But an SD card is already installed, recognized by Android (I can see it in the "Stockage" section), I can browse the SD via the File Explorer. I have tried to to uninstall and reinstall the SD card but the problem remains.
Any Ideas ?
Thansk for your help,
Vincent

do not Wipe Sdcard
Step
before your need use Flashtool go back Firmware Android 4.XX & ReBoot to 4.XX System & off system
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in TWRP you cand Wipe Anything , but do not Wipe Sdcard, [internal storage]
Then Install CM12 & APP
do not try TWRP back up, you will be Return Flash Firmware
Solved
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, But I did something else as describe in my third post (this solution does not need to reinstall any firmware) :

I have 2 phones on the same wifi mac address and the same mac bluetooth. It was established for this it is that the handset 2 have restored the image of 1. I tried to upload a clean soft KK LG Flash Tool but without effect
And by that I can not upload anything between phones.
Where they are saved addresses WiFi and Bt?
How to change them? I searched and found nothing works: -
You have to fix it manually, the MAC address isn't stored within ROM modules, its specific for each phone like IMEI. If I recall correctly it's stored in one of the "persist" partitions.
I create ./persist/bluetooth/.bdaddr and ./persist/wifi/.macaddr - without result. Any idea?
I change mac BT ftom this post and it's works!
There is only WiFi mac...
Sorry, I probably gave you the wrong information. MAC addresses for BT and Wi-Fi usually are hard-coded, both may be visible in the label inside battery compartment. Both are saved in /data once device boots, so if you have used a full backup from phone on another that's why you ended with same MAC addresses.
There are some apps that can spoof the Wi-Fi MAC address if you want to make some tests. I can't help finding the exact file where it's stored because I don't have a L90 anymore. A factory reset (wipe data partition) should fix it if the bootstack is working fine.
Case closed. A factory reset or flashing mode recovery its original ROM including the LG Flash Tool does not bring results.
It turned out that the method used for Bluetooth also works correctly on WiFi! - This is a simple and effective way to change mac BT and WiFi.
Hi,
I’m from Portugal and I’ve bought a Mi5 some days ago.
I have a problem for which I don’t find any solution.
The phone came with a modified fake ROM from the Chinese store but was working fine.
I unlocked the phone and installed TWRP to flash other ROMs. I flashed MIUI 8 global stable and a custom ROM from Xiaomi.eu without any problem.
Everything was working fine with the phone but I noticed that a lot of files from prior fake ROM (the one from the Chinese store) remained in the phone. So I decided to swipe everything in TWRP (including system and internal storage) and flashed MIUI Global Stable ROM again.
From this point, I never again been able to connect to a WiFi network and the 2G, 3G LTE connection became very weak and instable. The phone scan the wifi network available without problem, but after introducing the password, it tries to connect and just shows “Savedâ€.
I tried a lot of stuff. Static IP, reboot router, change router channel, change router security settings, flash different ROM, tweak build.prop file, but the problem persist.
In the phone test menu, when I try to connect to a WiFi I see that the phone scan, connect, disconnect, scan, connect, disconnect…
Any help?
Do you think it’s Hardware related issue? Or phone firmware and driver problem?
I’ll be very grateful for any assistance.
Hello
Yesterday I got the phone and I have exactly the same situation. Tried the same things, also flashing RR Nougat, RR Marshmallow, MIUI 7 and 8. Wifi isn't working in any situation. Did you solve it? Anyone have some ideas with it?
try another ROM
Just try the ROM "cm-13.0-20161211-NIGHTLY-gemini" .
My mi5 had the same problem when I got it, so I try unlock, bootloader, new cm14 rom, even went to change sim card, cause can't access 4G, still no luck. Then I backed to official ROM, factory reset, still have wifi and 4G problem. Finally after try the cm13 ROM, every thing became fine. It took me 5 days to resolved it.
FYI, mi5 's wifi signal strength is poor than others as so many complain you can see on the miui forum.
Tried that CM build, still nothing. I found in dev tools option to debug WIFI, and all the time I have RSSI of -127, even if I'm literally 1m from source (also I tried many sources). I'm out if ideas. Also It's not reception problem, because original ROM (like OP, probably fake global MIUI) had WIFI working just fine for me.
I have exactly the same situation.
I'll try the ROM "cm-13.0-20161211-NIGHTLY-gemini".
Thanks!!!

Hello friend, do you have the link for me to download this ROM?
Many thanks for helping.
I had the same problem, same symptoms.
I too flashed a new ROM and couldn't connect to any AP, I tried various ROMS, MIUI 7 & 8 and CM 13 & 14.1.
Though I think I found a solution (it worked for me ). I simply changed my MAC-adress and I was able to connect to my home WiFi.
I'm running CM 14.1-2016225-NIGHTLY-gemini on MI5.
This is what I did to fix my WiFi:
First prepare an new MAC-address. I personally don't know when a MAC-address is considered valid, so I just took one from an other device. I used the mac address of my previous mobile phone, which could connect to my router.
1. Disable WiFi.
3. Enable debugger settings (Setting>about Phone>Press build number repeatedly).
2. Enable root (Develepor settings>root access set to "Apps and ADB").
3. Open the file manager app.
4. Give the file manager app root access (menu>Settings(cog in lower left corner)>General settings>Access mode set this on "Root Access mode").
5. Now find the file root/etc/firmware/wlan/qca_cld/ and open wlan_mac.bin.
You should see something similar to:
Code:
Intf0MacAddress=XXXXXXXXXXXX
Intf1MacAddress=XXXXXXXXXXXX
END
6. Change the first to your new MAC-address, but first write down the old one, so you can change it back if this method doesn't work for you.
The last X of the next line should be a digit higher than the previous line. E.g:
Code:
Intf0MacAddress=957FDC328BF[B]4[/B]
Intf1MacAddress=957FDC328BF[B]5[/B]
END
(This MAC-address most likely won't work).
7. Save the file. You might need to press the save button a few times.
8. Check if the file has changed.
9. Check if you MAC-address has changed (Settings>WiFI>Configure-WIFI(cog in right upper corner)).
10. Enable WiFi.
I hope this works for everyone that has the same problem.

I'll try this procedure too, thank you very much Pekkuky.
I'll be back to talk if it fired, thanks for the help.
I tried to install the ROM that bajak85 suggested and it did not work for me, however I tried the procedure that pekkuky taught in ROM Xiaomi.eu 8.1.7.0 Nougat (ROM that bajak85 suggested) and it started to work, changing the MAC address worked for me too.
I did exactly as taught by Pekkuky and tried with another randomly generated MAC. That also worked.
Thank you all for the help and thank you very much Pekkuky, saved my life with this tip.

Hello, did you make sure that the MAC address was actually changed? In my case, a reboot was necessary for the modification to take effect.
I needed to forget the network and try again too, try this too, make sure the MAC has really changed and forget the wifi network and try again.
Good luck. :good::good:
