I'm on T-Mobile and side loaded the LMY47D OTA zip when it was first released. How do I go about loading LMY47M? I bought my N6 through Google and want to stay stock (unrooted).

You'll have to unlock your bootloader and use this:

So my 64GB GRAY Nexus 6 arrived on 5.0 and it wants to update to 5.0.1. I enabled USB debugging and OEM unlock and I am going to unlock it then make a nandroid of 5.0. Not sure why I am doing that but I thought I would.
Is there any reason to upgrade to 5.0.1 before flashing to 5.1? I thought I would let the OTA happen, then make another nandroid. Then flash to 5.1. Then make another nandroid.

If you want to upgrade to 5.1 via the OTA, you have to be on 5.0.1.

OK that is an upside to taking the 5.0.1 OTA. lol! I was going to flash to 5.1 though b/c I am on Verizon with a non-Verizon branded device and I wasn't sure how the OTAs work if you are using a non-Verizon N6 on Verizon.
Right now I have activated the phone through WiFi w/o a Verizon SIM card in it.
Any downsides for me to take the 5.0.1 OTA? I don't think there are but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Nothing I'm aware of.

It's may be easier to just use the factory images to get 5.1 rather than do the 5.0.1 OTA update and then adb sideload the 5.1 OTA update. Whatever you do, don't relock the device until everything is working and booting .

thanks, I am going to use the factory images to get to 5.1 but wasn't sure if there were any issues with the 5.0.1 OTA. And I definitely would never relock my bootloader ever!!
Hi, I'm about to install the 5.1 update but I noticed two versions in the android site: LMY47D and LMY47E, I'm currently in 5.0.1 and this phone was bought from AT&T, can I (or should I) install LMY47E without having LMY47D already installed? Thanks a lot!

LMY47E is for verizon users. LMY47D should be perfect for u since u are on AT&T.

are you side loading or fastboot flashing? If you plan on fastboot flashing you must unlock the bootloader (be sure to check off oem unlock before you do it).... this will erase all your data so back it up if you want to keep it also you will need usb debugging turned on in developer options. Then of course there is custom recovery and root.... very nice to have but not necessary. Although it really isn't difficult to do ... lots of tutorials out there..... read lots fail little....
Thanks for the heads up, I'm using fastboot because I'm rooted, and I already did it for 5.0.1 so I'm good with that, I'm just struggling on which version to install haha :S !

47D is considered global.... start with that and see how it goes for you.... I ended up with a combination... flash 47D then 47E but found radio .98 to not perform well for me after a few days testing.. then flashed just the radio back to .95 (47D)
LMY47D is going to be then, thanks a lot!

I'm on ATT running the T-Mobile build LMY47M, I've always been on ATT I just did the swapped Sim card to trick it into the 5.1 update.
So my first question is, have I been taking off the ATT update path now?
If yes, do I need to load the factory LMY47Z in order to get to 5.1.1 or wait for an ATT OTA image?
Thanks for all your help.

There is already a Factory Image for 5.1.1 of both AT&T and T-Mobile. You can flash your AT&T Factory image to return to Stock 5.1.1.
I haven't seen an ATT factory image. On the google developers site it has a 47Z for sprint and USC, and a 28E for T-Mobile.

Oh am sorry, got confused between Sprint and ATT. The Sprint (7Z) version is International image so I am pretty sure that would be fine to flash. I am not sure how the carrier OTA would differ much from the International version since I don't use Sprint or ATT.
OK thanks. Do you think being on the M build takes me out of the ATT OTA loop?
Otherwise I was going to try wugfresh to flash the Z build.

If you check the OTA url thread, you see that Z comes from D, E and I but not M.

OK thank you, I'll flash Z tonight then.
I'm right in assuming there will be a Verizon specific factory image at some point, correct? I got the OTA notification yesterday, but don't want to go back to stock just to update. And the LMY47Z image that's on Google's page obviously says "For Sprint, USC only."
Thanks

Disregard what Google has titled the image. That is the build Verizon users are getting via OTA.

47Z is being pushed to numerous other devices (and used successfully) in spite of Google's label. AT&T, and numerous international users. Several VZW users also report satisfactory performance with 47Z.
Ah, thank you to you both.
Hello everyone... I have a N6 I got directly from Google Play Store and I am using a VZW sim card... I unlocked, rooted and have TWRP installed but other than that I am still on stock 5.1
Today I got the notification that 5.1.1 update is available to install so I went on Google to get the factory image and update with fastboot so I would not lose data also... but it seems that Google only posted the factory images for Sprint and T-Mobile... So I am not sure how to go about this now... I obviously can't update from OTA but I don't seem to be able to download an appropriate factory image.
Any help is appreciated!
It's the same one as sprint, LMY47Z

Before you received the OTA, what build were you running? 47D?
