Now that the n6 on tmobile has wifi calling is there anyway to port this feature to our Moto x 2014?
Does anyone have the apk?

its not an apk I think its part framework and part modded modem file might be part custom kernel as well

Shouldn't it be part of the 5.1 update if the N6 has it on 5.1?

No its ONLY part of 5.1 updates for tmobile branded phones. All tmobile phones have wifi calling as part of the tmobile rom but until now there has never been a phone that was running an unbranded rom that could use tmobile wifi calling. I am not sure anyone knows exactly how its done per say but now that we have a release for n6 which is not specifically tmobile branded I was hoping someone might figure out what changes were made in order to allow it to use the wifi calling and port those changes to moto x 2014

[I have no idea how OTAs are staged, so I hope this isn't the worst question ever asked in these forums]
I have a Moto X GSM (xt1053) that I got through Motorola using motomaker. I'm on the AT&T network, and things are working fine.
Since AT&T Moto Xs are xt1058, will my phone get the 4.4.4 OTA correctly?
Thanks

Yes, you will receive the OTA just fine. The network that you are using won't affect it at all.

That being said, they haven't begun the rollout of 4.4.4 on the XT1053. The latest available for it is 4.4.3.

Anyone know why the XT1053 is the last X variant to get 4.4.4?

Republic Wireless is still on 4.4.2, so you're not the last....
Anyways, the only known difference between 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 is the ssl and a couple other patches. Extremely minimal difference. There most lilkely wouldn't have been a 4.4.4 if the ssl bug wasn't discovered - we all would have likely went straight to L (eventually).
From what I have read the system version in tmobile 4.4.3 is the same as the other 4.4.4 releases. So we don't need the 4.4.4 update since we are already patched.

It looks like we are missing the OpenSSL patch, but have everything else. That said isn't the OpenSSL the most important portion of the patch?
I have a Telus XT1097. I know that without having a root method atm it is still just speculation but are we aware of any hardware differences or other issues that would make a convert to pure edition (xt1095) impossible?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried unlocking your bootloader? It seems to me the Telus version is pretty much a Pure Edition, except for the model number... BTW does it have any TELUS bloatware at all?
FYI I believe the 1095 has different frequency bands.
Sent from my Moto X
I have not because as far as i understood the method was exclusively for the xt1095 but I'll give it a shot.
As far as bloatware, the only thing Telus installed on this phone is their "My Account" app. It's an app that you can download from the play store.
It's interesting to see the marketing used on Telus' website to describe the Moto X. The catchphrases are: "Pure Style, Pure performance" and then "Pure Android with the quickest updates". It leads me to believe that Telus will pretty much push out updates as they recieve them from Moto.
I'll be less inclined to root and flash if I see that I get timely updates, after using galaxy phones and flashing for the past 5 years i just want something that works great or of the box.
Regards,
Jeremie

I have a brazilian version, also model XT1097 from carrier Vivo and I was able to unlock the bootloader and root it normally. Would like to know the difference between the XT1095 and XT1097 though.

I have XT1093 (US Cellular). The Pure Edition root method works for all variants with unlockable bootloaders. The key is to follow the directions completely. As it only BOOTS the system image rather than INSTALLS the image, it works fine. Boots the image once, installs SU to your system, then reboots to your system.

I thought I was getting a Pure Edition when I bought the unlocked version from Motorola's mexican website, but I got the xt1097... if this is possible that would be great as I believe the pure edition will get updates faster

Sure thing,
I used the multitool to flash that Pure Edition Moto X 2014 (XT1095) ROM (full wipe)
Then flashed ATT Modem (downloaded from graffixnyc website)
Then sidloaded OTA update
Then restored my EFS from my TWRP backup.
Everything booted up fine, except I don't have a cell signal. It asks me for a SIM network unlock PIN. I'm stuck here.... I want to try and flash the telus modem. Not sure why it's asking for a SIM unlock PIN.
I mean how can I back up the modem file for you

It was asking you for unlocking cuz Att modem is sim locked.
So did you manage to successfully convert to 1095? I'd like to try, but I'm a bit worried about the modem issues, I'd need a sim unlocked modem i can use with Brazilian operators.
I'm a noob in moto x developing, so I'm already reading what multitool is and how-to's.

Any luck getting your phone working? You have an XT1097 right?
Hey guys,
Telus XT1097 user here.
Trying to flash back to stock so I can get some lollipop action.
Which factory image should I be installing here ? I don't think our phones are dev editions / pure editions...
Thanks !

I wonder if that only works on some XT1097 phones, I got a "Permission Denied" error when I tried it on mine.
So it looks like new Nexus phones are not supported yet, and its also reported that you look band 12 with M and Project Fi. So does it work on Tmo?
Yes. I'm on T-Mo with a stock N6 running Android 6.0 and LTE discovery (app) is showing lte band 12 right now.
Android M doesn't support any bands. It's hardware.

Dan, are you saying we don't need to wait for the update that T-Mobile says it will have ready for us later this week?

The problem with an OTA is that it can only update a specific build. The normal OTA everyone else will get will not be able to update a t-mobile rom, so t-mobile will have to release their own.
Bands themselves for LTE are hardware in the SoC.
As for WiFi calling, that's built into Marshmallow..my understanding is you just need the "my tmo" app from play or something.
But yes, if you want to receive an OTA then you'll have to wait, but you should also be able to flash the system.img and boot.img

Thank you sir! I'm rooted, so I plan to update manually with fastboot anyway. I'm seeing conflicting reports from others that have manually updated about WiFi calling working or not, and band 12 being available or not. Guess I'll wait another day or two and see how it shakes out.
I am a stock non rooted T-mobile user and i upgraded to Marshmallow using the standard image that google posted. everything works, LTE and wifi calling included. I have had no issues so far.
I'm running stock factory 6.0 rooted with twrp and T-Mobile WiFi calling works perfect. Thanks marshmallow

Thanks. Are u on latest build? Fi users reporting that M killed band 12 for them on N6
Band12 data support is removed for Fi users in the M radio because Fi will not support T-Mobile's proprietary VoLTE. So, no band12 data with the Fi SIM installed.
If you run M on your N6 with a T-mobile SIM in, you do get band12 ?

Can you flash a radio file from a stock image that isn't for your firmware? In my case, is it okay to flash the radio from a lollipop build on marshmallow without any issues? Thanks! It would have to be a T-Mobile lollipop build if I wanted WiFi calling right?

I don't think you should have any issues. Before I was really lazy and never updated my baseband despite changing firmware and never had any issues. You may run into problems with mixing the bootloaders though.

Yea they added wifi calling in marshmallow, to have it if I use a lollipop radio, I would need the T-Mobile version of the radio since those were carrier specific right? I rely on wifi calling where I live, service isn't great at my house, everywhere else in town, just not my house haha

Hey... I just moved to the US and do not want to give up on my XT1052 Asia Moto X yet. I have taken a T-mobile connection, and want to know how to get the 4G to work?
I am able to make calls and use 3G... but I am not getting the 4G signal.
I am currently using stock 5.1, rooted and xposed. I moved to this from CM12, and I am not sure if its that there is something wrong with the ROM, or if the phone itself is not compatible with it.
Any pointers on how to check this?
