How do I root my SM-G900A?
it is running android 5.0 Lollypop. I have tried Kingo, TowelRoot (which is supposed to work on the ATT Galaxy S5 but doesn't), 1-Click Root, and Odin3. None of them are working... Is there another way to root my device? note: (i used to have a nexus 7 and a kindle fire which i rooted)

If you took the ota 5.0 upgrade or bought the phone with the 5.0 firmware already on it there is currently no way to root and no way to downgrade. If you search ( 5.0 root or something along them lines ) you'll find plenty of threads talking about it.

For the g900a on stock 5.0, no. OC4 bootloader cannot be downgraded, even with odin.

Try kingo root if you're on kitkat or earlier.

Kingo doesn't work on KitKat. It only works on Jellybean.
If you're on 4.4.2 you can root with Towelroot (search on Google and you'll find the apk). If you're on 4.4.4 there are threads the AT&T Note 3 general section about how to root that.

You're absolutely right. I rooted using Kingo on 4.3. I rememeber towelroot not working for me though on 4.4 on the n900 but give it a whirl.

When I was digging around the internet getting confused about rooting this device, I saw people were having issues with KNOX? Do I need to worry about that if I root with Towelroot?

No. Towelroot won't set of the Knox counter.

Just like the title implies, does anyone think it may be possible to root the att/Verizon versions with towelroot as was possible with the s5? Any brave soul want to try? Any dev believe this idea has feet?
No it does not work

Is there any potential for a tool to exploit the same hole as towelroot did on the s5 to gain root on the s6/edge?
Could be possible depending if there is an exploit that has not been patched
I dream that one day we will have root.

If you did not know yet, Chainfire has released Autoroot for the S6 and S6 Edge. Go to the Chain Fire website for download.

That's correct. AT&T and Verizon variants have a locked bootloader. No root for you. (Seinfeld joke)
I have the newest update 5.0.2 I would like to get root.
Build Number
LRX22G.G925AUCU2AOF4
Kernel Date
Aug 5th 2015
Good luck the exploit was patched. Hopefully someone will crack it but don't get to exited

I believe there is a way for you too downgrade , root then keep the root with an update .. not 100% on the method but it is a possibility. You would have to use the new kernel i believe.

I'd probably jump on that. Luckily I'm still back on OE2 so I've got root. But sooner or later AT&T will release 5.1.1 and I'll want it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an in depth step by step tut for rooting the Note 3 N900A? I have tried a few different things and nothing has worked.
Can you please specify the methods you have tried?

All the methods that I could find on youtube. There are a couple of options here on XDA that I've seen, but there isn't a very good tutorial on it. At least not for a squid like me !
I think it could be rooted with a version of jb if you updated I don't think it can be. I think some people have safestrap' the device and loaded something else in another memory but I don't think it is really rooted

There are a few options on XDA that I've seen, but there's not a very good tutorial on how to do it for a newbie. It looks like you have to from my understanding of it downgrade to KitKat and then go to the root process.
Does kingroot work? If not you'll have to downgrade to kitkat run Kingoroot (yes, two are named eerily the same) and safestrap rooted ROM.
I tried one of them, think it was king root. Chinese site?
That'd be it.

Is kingroot safe, like does it install any backdoors that I should be aware of?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Have no idea, I didn't get it to work.
If you are on 4.4.2, you can use TowelRoot, 1 click root. As long a you are not on 5.1.1, you can Odin back to 4.4.2. I used the method without Safestrap on 5.0.1. I followed the directions in post 1 and it worked without a hitch.
I've not had much time lately to do proper research or trial-and-error on this topic (especially since this is for a friend). I was wondering if it is at all possible to root the SM-G920A on 6.0.1 G920AUCU3PD6? I've checked out the other threads and they are all about updating or there's that one about flashing the Verizon stock. But nothing about just achieving root on this update.
Thanks in advance if I don't get back to the replies quickly!
Not yet to my knowledge.

Dang, lol I'm in the same situation, if you used odin all you would have to do is find the tar file :/
if the tethered root can be ported to 6.0.1 we might have something

There's nothing to port. We need an engineering kernel to leak as it did for Lollipop.
