[Q] Nexus 6 Rooting Questions - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, before I get all into this post, If I'm like, posting this in the wrong section I apologize deeply. New, but I would love to have this question answered.
I recently switched from iPhone to my Nexus 6. Love it. I want to root my Nexus 6 though, I have this from T-Mobile and it's running Android 5.1 right now, are there any guides out there or videos that you could link that runs me through how to root it that won't break my phone since I'm running 5.1? Thanks.

You don't need to flash twrp.
a) You can fastboot boot cf-auto-root.img
b) You can fastboot boot twrp.img and then adb sideload root.zip through it.
This is a Nexus with fastboot. Not a samsuck.

How is it not safe? Find a reputable site like xda etc

The only thing breaking phones is not knowing what you`re doing followed by making the wrong decision All 2 above suggestions are great btw.

I usually do to avoid potential issue with custom roms and enjoy the benefits of any bugfixes and battery savings of the new baseband.

If I flash a boot loader through recovery, will it start as unlocked then I assume? Sorry that's a pretty noobish question.

Seems to be flashing fine. Corrupt download? I don't believe you have to be on a 4.4.1 rom to flash the bootloader.
Ever since updating to 4.4.1 I've had full bars for network signal strength, but terrible speeds. Tried re-flashing the radio only. No improvement seen. Is there a way to roll back the radio only, or re-flash the old radio (via TWRP)?
Had someone flashed the bootloader on D820?
EDIT:
I did. Worked
Thanks!

[Q] How to root verizon lg g2 as of 10/16/2014

Sorry guys but ive been searching already and cannot find anuo to date way yo do this. Towel root doesnt work for an updated VXW LG G2 and niether does stump. Can someone help me out? I really have tried finding this myself but seems like something must have recently changed. Thanks and sorry.
Kdz to 24a will surely work as it is still perfectly rootable.
Stump root using brute force method works on 26A, it is the only working root for 26A, besides KDZing back to 24A, rooting, and updating.
Yep, stump root works with brute force. Takes 5-10 minutes but you'll get there.
Freedom One-Click works as well for installing TWRP. I just did both procedures the other day on a refurb 26A unit I got as a warranty replacement.

I can't help I'm afraid, root hasn't been an issue for me in a very long time, I've been on AOSP ROM since 12B. There are plenty of users who can help here though.

Np thanks. I downloaded latest Stump but wondering how you do the 'brute force' method. Does it auto start a brute force method of sorts?
(that's directed at any one else too)
---------- Post added at 08:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 PM ----------
I'm an idiot. You just run it and it auto detects that it has to brute force.
Thanks. I'll let it go and see what it does. :good:
Edit2: Worked great.

I wonder if I should wait to ROM, since we'll get Lollipop by end of next year (at least on Verizon it'll take that long).

26A isn't magic, to custom ROMs is just another radio for the most part... There isn't a huge compatibility difference and just about any aftermarket ROM/kernel built for 24A will work on 26A, and vise versa. In any ROM or kernel read the first few posts, they usually give the requirements for them, notice most say "official KitKat baseband" and not a specific version, although a few ROMs do specify a specific version, always read and ask for each specific instance if your not sure.
I can not get anything to root my phone on 26a. Tried stump and towel , now im debating on going back toot 24a but i don't wanna risk losing everything
Dude you're doing something wrong. Stump worked on the 4 G2 Verizon phones I've tried it on. 26A.
Did you enable usb debugging? Turn off app verify, etc. What happens after it reboots twice after brute force?
Give some more effin info than "it doesn't work".

Hrm, it has to be one of the silly phone settings.
You want: USB Debugging enabled, (next couple ar ein Security settings)Verify Apps disabled, Allow Unknown sources enabled.
Is your phone currently encrypted? Did you enable that feature already? Try removing the lock screen, if you currently have one set.
Uninstall Stumproot. ARE YOU SURE you're on the latest version that can brute force 26A? Enable the above and reinstall. He put out updates once it became available, since people said they were getting "unsupported device" errors.

no links, sorry. but its fairy straight forward..
1. unlock the option for, then fastboot unlock your bootloader
2. fastboot flash twrp recovery
3 flash the latest supersu in twrp recovery
4 boot up and have root
How is the N6 a lot harder to root?

2 & 3 both, to your option of obtaining root. its your opinion and that's all it is. as my method has been used for many years and answers his question, correctly. all you are doing is giving a new option. which in no way makes my way unnecessary nor bad advice.
Like posted before, just download wugfresh's root toolkit in the nexus 6 forums. It's very easy to use and basically does all the work for you, and if you screw something up it's usually a pretty simple fix. But remember to ALWAYS back up your data before doing anything incase something goes wrong or delete your data by mistake. If you need more help just pm me.

He can always come here and learn it the proper way. After opening a dozen of threads of "help my phone is bricked".
Cleaned (despite being in Q and A). And closed.
The OP should make their own mind up on the evidence AND experience provided by "Recognised" sources.

cf-auto root problem

Sm-n910t T-mobile
(Update)
I ended up having to do a factory reset so it's working nice and smooth now. So the question is should I go about flashing a custom rom in Odin then using TWRP and as my custom recovery? Or just try it again or wait it out until more people have more success?
(EDIT) MY PHONE ISNT STUCK IN A BOOTLOOP BUT NOW ITS EXTREMLY SLOW.
I used this guide to root my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/sm-n910-cf-auto-root-t2897428/page160 did I miss anything ? should a flash twp onto my phone? im a complete noob to this and I made the mistake of rooting my main phone first please help.
well I woke this morning to my phone stuck in a bootloop it started to act funny right as I had to go to sleep. I cleared the cache didn't work so I had to factory reset and it worked but said my phone was no longer rooted so I repeated the process and rerooted my phone but now its in in the bootloop again what should I do to fix this?
