RooTing Nexus 4[UB] Stock 4.4 Kitkat KRT16O

If u already Upgraded to Kitkat on your favourite Nexus 4 then Rooting is very simple....
Here is a simple way to root Your N4 Kitkat....
Requirements:
*Stock 4.4 kitkat
*BL unlocked
*CWM or TWRP installed
Work to Do:
*Download Root_KitKat_Nexus_4.zip
*flash it via recovery
*Reboot

I just used WugFresh toolkit, and pressed the "root" button.
Great success!

I used Nexus 4 CF-Auto-Root by Chainfire since I have no recovery. After that I install TWRP.

rooted superSU v1.51 and CWM 6.0.4.3 method nexus 4 running 4.4
flashed cwm touch 6.0.4.3 and rooted this morning.. flash the cwm 6.0.4.3 via cmd prompt in windows using adb and then restart phone into android. move the newest superSU v1.51 on the root of storage. install zip via cwm.. bam. rooted!

Works for me too, with cwm touch 6.0.2.3.
I'm not sure, but I think getting root is only possible if the bootloader is unlocked. Maybe that's why it doesn't work for some people.

Yeah the boot loader HAS to be unlocked or su is denied

You might get lollipop update, but mostly, you won't be able to update
Will this work on my phone?
It works on the first three Android One phones i.e. Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn sparkle V, Spice Dream UNO Mi-498.

No. It is the full stock firmware

I tried the method..but dat doesn't work..I am on cm 12.1..philz recovery... I turned off my phone went into recovery did all the procedure cache factory reset and all..den SD card to install zip I found my location..but when I clicked on it..it says error..why..did I miss something

It would be great if you can give me more details on the error. And if you are on lollipop, make sure you formated system partition before flashing

Sir..i not on lollipop..I am using cm 12.1..so I wanted to go back to stock from..so as it was written..I downloaded the zip and pasted in SD card..den u turned it off...went to philz recovery..den I searched for the file...I clicked on install new rom...den I searched the file in external SD card..den as soon as I clicked on in..something happened down the procedure and error dats all...I want to know dat I am currently using cm 12.1...by using our zip file will I go back to stock or not..as it say error...I'll send u a screen shot soon...but do reply on dis urgent thank you sir...

Many bugs in this rom....i flashed this rom successfuly by twrp recovery... and when i open playstore its couldnot be opened...its showing unfortunately stopped.. again and again after reboot...pls help me how i solve this....pls reply me fast

The problem is....all the data is compiled in the internal storage..nd their is no option of "move to SD card" present their...plz help me..?

Can somebody confirm is this is really 5.1 that got some improvements to the whole android and not only separate edition for android one that will need go to other devices like 5.0.2 that never goes to nexus 5?

Before selecting custom restore in philz recovery, if i select backup to external SD. And after some time i restore that backup, will i get the stock recovery and KitKat back?

yes you can always take a backup of your original rom, but remember the location so that you can restore it back

Your bootloader should be locked and phone should have stock recovery if you want ota update

Steps

BusyBox is required by some apps not all. If some root apps malfunction then you may install it n retry those apps.

Could anyone give step by step guide to flash via sp flash tool without losing imei no?
Whenever i flash i loose my imei no...
Any tutorial link or YouTube video link.?i am on Android 5.1 indian rom backup...

Flash your phone normally... Before flashing jas uncheck preloader files in sp tool and flash your phone in download mode!! Your imei number wont loose!

Running out of storage
I have successfully updated to Lollipop with the steps provided on Spice dream uno, but the device always keeps on showing "Storage running out of space", nothing has been installed, and if I try to install it again shows error insufficient space to download apps. What should I do ?

Should I flash it or restore it..? Should I select clean to install new rom in philiz?

i was able to install recoverys and all when using 4.4 and i even flashed 5.1 through recovery only...

This rom contains the recovery. If you are already on a rooted 5.0 rom then you can try installing the recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598

as far as i know the procedure for installing lollipop is same as all roms before so it goes like that... 1.go to recovery 2.wipe(factory setings) 3. flash this rom and reboot. this rom contains STOCK FIRMWARE so no need to flash stripped ftf also it has ROOT and RECOVERY so there is no worries of loosing it.hope i helped u

no need to flash lollipop kernel becouse this rom has it in flashable zip so it will flash a lollipop kernel when u install this rom...if u end up somehow in bootloop then u CAN flash KERNEL but i think u wont need that :fingers-crossed:

hello @puneethv...well since im on android for a few years already and have flashed tons of roms on different devices i think i can try my best to help those who are new to this...hope i sad it right for that instaling procedure, cuz for me it worked flawesly. cheers
