[Q] Nexus 6 weird Device name in command prompt - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I didn't find another thread with this information in it and if there is one will someone please let me know?
I am in the process of rooting my N6. When checking to see if adb can see my device it gives me a strange device iD that I'm not familiar with. The only device connected to my PC is my N6 so I assume that's it. If someone could, please give me a little insight as to what that device name is and if I can move forward with rooting/flashing/custom recovery etc. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
The device name it spits back at me is: ZX1G22CBMQ
I haven't posted enough for XDA to let post an outside link to a screenshot of my command prompt return. Let me know if anyone would need to see it.

That is a typical, correct device ID for the Nexus 6. You are ready to Rock & Roll.

Best of luck. And you've got a good start here. Do Not Hesitate to ask questions if you are unsure of anything. And do not, under any circumstances, try to relock your bootloader. Only if you are returning it for replacement, and then follow the guide in the General section.

Awesome information. I'll look around and see if I can research what happens if I were to do so. Everything seems super easy once you learn the process'.

I am also new to this rooting thing. Can you provide the link for what instructions did you follow to root your Nexus 1?
I came from an HD2 device, and this is pretty new to me.
i'll appreciate any help.

hey man, thanks for your response.........
i did my research of course and had a little idea now on how to do the rooting, but just wanted to see if there are different instructions on rooting a device.
since the OP said he have just rooted it, might as well ask him to point me to the right direction.
i believed, i have also said that i will appreciate that info.
coming from a totally different device, i hope you understand why am i asking? since a thread has been opened already.

look around the development thread, and use google. from those, i was able to unlock, root, and install enom's ROM w/o too much trouble. using the 'spare parts' app in enom's ROM, you can uninstall things you couldn't before, like amazon.mp3, for which i have no use.
i don't know about proxy wifi settings, never had to mess with it. that seems like a browser condition, not a ROM condition tho. could fix thru router tho, if you're at home. MAC address proxy assignment would be your best bet, i would think.
only rooted apps i use are adfree, andexplorer, and metamorph, i think.
but, i am able to push whatever i want

In my opinion u should defenitly leave ur phone @ STOCK
Cause if u really need a step by step how-to plus you are not "smart enough" to search for your self in this forum and or the web, then i guess you will brick your phone.
Imo rooting mobile devices and/or installing custom Roms / Firmware is something for Users with some experience. And you DONT get this experience with just asking and following a step by step guide ... you have to understand what you are doing!

Nah, I cannot take this comment of you as you state it. ALL of us, I repeat ALL have been noobs somwhen and wanted/needed to be taken by the hand and helped out, so always try to guide them kindly to whatever they need and they ll be fine. The forum was a bit cleaner and smaller, when I came in, but still with a lot of nice and helpfull guys.
I think a good beginning is to read my noob how to (see signature) and then simply search whatever you need + optimus black in search up in the right corner and you ll get whatever you need

[Q] Logitech k400 not working with N10?

So I recently purchased a Logitech k400 keyboard/trackpad combo for my raspberry pi, as well as taking it around with my N10 if necessary. However, for whatever reason, the tablet just won't recognize the keyboard plugged in over OTG. I've tested it on my N7 and it works like a charm. I've done some research and realized that this is pretty much universal.
Is there any way to get the N10 to recognize the keyboard? An app or something?
Thanks!
The drivers for the Unifying receiver are not included in the N10 Kernel.
With the Kernel from craigacgomez it will work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998585&highlight=unify
You can find his standalone Kernels here:
http://goo.im/devs/craigacgomez/manta/
I'm using the "manta-kernel-stock-cgomez.23112012.zip" and its working pretty good.
Hopefully Google will add the drivers with the next Update.
Works properly with KToonz Kernel as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015874
Am i just supposed to flash those over stock, or is there a custom ROM that goes with them?
I flashed "manta-kernel-stock-cgomez.23112012" over Stock 4.2.2.
I have some "normal Nexus 10 Problems" with reboots and lags, but I'm quite sure its not the Kernel.
Try both and tell us your experiences

I have purchased N10 two days back and I was really disappointed when my logitech keyboad did not work. I see you could get working. Can you please help me to install required drivers. Please note that I am very new to android. After looking at few videos and links I have understood rooting and flashing but still not very clear. So I will appreciate if you can explain me step by step procedure to get my keyboard working. I am really sorry if I am asking too much. But I would be really thankful to you if you can help me. Hi rbirahul,
If you're rooted and know how to flash a rom & kernel, then it's easy. If not, You'll need to understand this first before going forward.
All I did was I have this rom installed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177978
and then I installed the kernel below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015874
That's all you need really. The keyboard will work with this setup.

Hi Glensta,
No I have never rooted any android device. That is why I have been reading about it. So following are the option which I though of trying.
You have asked to get flashable zip file from below link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015874
I hope below is zip file
http://www.mediafire.com/download/spi7ichqvf32dz1/KTManta-05-14-2013.zip
Not sure how to flash zip file. So downloaded toolkit from below link. It has all options like root, flash, boot...... but not sure what is the correct way as I am afraid that I may get into issues.
http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
I downloaded toolkit from above link. Install required drivers for toolkit to couple with nexus 10. Now I think I am one or two step away from what I need to do but I am afraid to do that. Do I need to always root android device to flash zip file?
If you think that I should not get into all these issues and drop this idea then let me know. I really don’t want to damage on my new N10.
Regards

Hi rbirahul - I'm sure the wugfresh toolkit works fine. I prefer this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001868.
start there and then follow the steps I've suggested already. There's plenty of info out there and it's not as hard as it seems. Believe me I've put plenty & plenty of hours into learning and made plenty of mistakes, but never damaged my nexus 10 beyond repair. You'll need to do your home work.
Also - when someone helps you, hit the "thanks" button as a show of appreciation.

Yes I think I should explore more on this and I will. I request you to answer few last queries?
1) Can I flash .img or .zip file without rooting the device?
2) Should I flash directly KTManta-05-14-2013.zip or I should unzip and flash boot.img?
Thanks,

CyanogenMod

Hello Everyone, I am new around here.
So about a week ago I got my first ever Android phone (after spending years on iOS) I am extremely happy with the Sony Xperia Z1, it just blows iPhones and iOS away, Let me get to the point haha.
I have done a long and painful process of:
1. Flashing Old Firmware.
2. Rooting.
3. Updating again.
4. Unlocking Bootloader.
So I'm at stage 5 now, I would like to install CyanogenMod. On the site it says C6902 But I have a C6903, will this make a difference? and if so are their any better alternatives to CyanogenMod?
Since I am inexperienced in all this Android and rooting etc (Long time iOS Jailbreak User) I would appreciate if somebody could point me in the right direction on where to go from here. I don't want to brick my shiny new device but I also want to give the device some customization.
Many thanks, I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Happy new year!
I found out you can install CM on C6903 but a lot of things are broken, the Camera is broken on all levels, but C6903 is supported.
Also try and use the search button for answers, I only recently asked the same question about 8 hours ago.

Good, you know I wouldn't try and get CM on C6903... even though people say it's possible, the issues with it are many. I personally haven't seen anyone put CM on a C6903 device yet... and like I said, the amount of problems with it wouldn't make it fun.
What are you looking for that's so special about CM?

I am enthusiastic about trying something new, Basically I have never tried CyanogenMod before so I would like to chance it and if things go too wrong then I will flash back using Flashtool.
Also Its nice to know this so once the CM becomes more stable I can install it again in the future.
Sorry if im a nuisance, I really appreciate the help

Nearly all development for the Honami goes into CM11, which hasn't been graduated to nightlies just yet, meaning that there are no up-to-date builds available at the moment, FXP252 was supposed to be the first release of Honami CM11, but it wasn't deemed ready for it at this stage.

Use the flow chart from post #2 in this thread to identify the correct framework for your device (links to the corresponding threads are given below the flow chart). Download the framework from its corresponding thread, download the xposed_installer_alphaX.apk (where X is the current version number) from here and put both files on your SD card. The installation process is described in the first post of each thread.

What custom recovery do you use? TWRP is the recommended one, as other recoveries have the "signature verification" issue you are facing. Use TWRP instead.

It's quite easy: open Google (or any search engine you like) and type in:
your-device-name TWRP
If there is no TWRP available for your device, there is no way for you to get Xposed working at the moment.
My recommendation for you: don't flash Xposed, as you are clearly not able to research/solve the easiest things by your own. Xposed is for advanced users.
give me the solution
You said that this is a easiest thing so you give me the solution

Really? I just gave you some advices so you can search for a solution by yourself. If you can't do so, I am of no further help for you (and neither will anyone else here on XDA).
You have no solution
If you have any solution so why you giving me advices so give me solution

Your behaviour is so disrespectful for everyone who is trying to help you. We do not owe you something, we do this for free. You think you can come to XDA and demand free help from everyone without contributing the smallest amount of willingness to do it by yourself like the majority here? If you aren't willing to learn (at least something about respect), then delete your account and never come back here. This is no place where you come to and demand things by others. This is a place for developers, not for some little kids who want cool stuff or cool phones. Don't like it? Well, too bad, that's none of my business.
You have no solution
But you are developers so developers have all solution..

Developers are not Gods.
The developers are not your slaves. You aren't paying them anything. They are not obliged to pander to you.
If you can't even have the smallest amount of humility in asking for help, then go away and don't come back.
Developers are nor god
