Let's say hypothetically you had a Z3+ prototype, but you wanted it to have normal commercial software.
Would it be as simple as flashing the correct FTF?
It should work, but everyone wants prototype firmware
Don't know why they would! Full of bug reporting, can't update any stock apps, blocks some apps from the play store. It's not really usable as a prototype.

No one will use it as-is
Devs can port some features of files from it, like auto sound quality enhancement which is already integrated in Z3 settings but lacks executable.
It is possible to flash, use Emma, but good to have an OEM account. Download firmware, tke The *.FILE from yhe blob folder and pack it with flashtool and youre selg a FTF file. Maybr it can be prerooted wuth prf. Or unlock bootloader and its easy peasy. But then you loose DRM

what if I don`t have an EMMA account? there`s no support in Flashtool for E6553 or similar prototype builds....Any help how I could revive a dead type-not aproved Z3+?
I wouldn`t care for the prototype software if only would boot properly, but it doesn`t....Any help?
I used Flashtool and Xperifirm to flash it with a generic.
Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
It's probably packed under another name in Flashtool (androxyde) hence the device isn't listed in Flashtool yet. So maybe just use xperifirm ftf and flash via Flashtool

But if you have a prototype didn't you get a DEV account or perhaps a regular OEM account from your supplier or chain?
Anyway, why can't you Boot? Have you manipulated with the bootloader? If yes! How did you managed? With Flashtool (androxyde) blu button?
I have an idea! I can unpack the latest FILE's from Emma in dB blob_fs folder and take the kernel.sin and make it flushable.zip wouldn't that be useful either by you working recovery, if that what you tried since it's not booting up normally anymore. (Please share in that case) or maybe via Flashtool just flashing the kernel.sin or kernel.img if possible! Does it make sense?

1. tried with flashtool with firmware from Xperifirm, but since there`s no loader-it couldn`t start flashing. i didn`t try with selecting only some firmware options
2. the prototype is an early build (from 2014 3rd qt), and the first fw was very unstable...so unstable that it died after a few weeks, and my dev account was not of any use, there weren`t any files on EMMA. my account was expired till today, so tonight i`ll try to flash with original files from support. i was waiting for my account reactivation for more than a month, and when i lost my nerves-paf, the account is back
if you want me to send a feedback from flashtool-i`l be glad to try with selecting only kernel.img....
Update:
Not even EMMA recognizes this prototype....
Flash tool doesn`t start flashing even with kernel alone.....
I had a z2 prototype and I have flashed commercial firmware through flashtool and it works fine. No problem.

I have Z2 TABLET prototype cannot unlock bootloader .
It still 4.2.2 .
Just want to update it to latest OS . What can i do ?
Anyone can help ? PLEASE
Thank you for kind attention!
Flashtool should be fine for that, you don't need to unlock anything to flash official firmware.
Actually i used Flashtool to flash my xperia Z3 prototype mobile phone. But after flash it shows message like this device is prototype bla bla bla. How i rid out of it from the settings menu. And i download firmware from XperiaFirm under D6603 Genaric UK one. Please help for my issue.
Yeah that's the same problem I've had, it seems to be that they have a different IMEI which tells the software it's a prototype, so you came stop that.
How you stop to send anonymous data to Sony network? Because it doesn't have option to uncheck the check box. So you also have same notice right?

And i like to know you got an updates from the Sony PC companion? And you can repair your phone using PC companion? I've tried once but it doesn't work. And I've install latest marshmallows OS using Flash tool, after that it has huge battery drain even in the the stamina mode. Did you have same issue as well?

Hey,
in latest firmware there is a update to S1Boot (to Version R10A21). I think most users who DONT USE PCC/SEUS will not have the update because Flashtool does not decrypt it correctly.
I packed it up into German Firmware, so if you are interested you can flash this Firmware and then just reflash ANY OTHER Firmware if you dont want to stay on German one. After S1Boot got updated it will stay updated no matter what Firmware you flash afterwards, becasue normally it is not included.
File can be downloaded here from my Firmware collection, directlink to Xperia T folder:

Hi Binary, Can I confirm that I can backup my current stock rom (7.0.A.3.195) using CWM recovery (advanced kernel v4), then flash this for S1 update, then (correct me if I am wrong please!) re-flash kernel and then restore rom via CWM: resulting in being back to my current rom but with S1 Boot update.
Also just check that I should use "Generic DE (S1Boot-Update).ftf" - is this the one you refer to in the OP.?
Thanks for your patience

WHich "latest" version did you get the new boot from? And what is new in it?

It is included inside the SEUS files for the 195 Version, but "problem" is that we need to update Flashtool so that it decrypts the File correctly. For now we only added the "alternate" decryption for Loader, now S1Boot seems to be updated too Which is quite good, maybe they add features in future like button for recovery

Do your PCC Files are 3 or 4 Files? If your firmware includes the S1Boot update then it should be 4 Files!!
IT CAN BE that the branding firmwares does NOT include the S1Boot update, maybe that is the reason

Difficulty
Easy
Time taken
I did it in less than 10 minutes
1. Download one of the .ftf's from the OP that have the s1 boot update in title.
2. make a backup of your current rom
3. Download, install and set up flashtool. (Link in the all in one thread)
4. Drag and drop the .ftf into the open window of flashtool.
5. Tick all the boxes that say exclude except the one that says exclude uncategorized Check the attached image
6. Flash the .ftf following flashtool instructions
7. Reboot phone and check your s1 boot version, it should now be updated
8. Reboot into recovery and restore your backup.
9. You are now on the latest s1 boot with the same rom you had before.
EDIT
Alternative Method.
Flash this LT30_7.0.A.3.195_Generic DE (S1Boot-ONLY).ftf - 725.46 KB
(N.B. It is reported to relock your bootloader, just unlock it again if thats the case, info taken from this post)
I just removed all the unnecassary files from one of the .ftf's provided by Bin4ry

I have installed the CM10 of Cyanogenmod but I did not thought I would ever say this; I would like to go back to a stock Sony ROM. I miss the keyboard, the wifi-on-location, the Album app of Sony and more.
Is it possible to flash back to a stock Sony ROM and if yes, how do I do this? I think it would be simple since I have recovery installed of course. And, I live in the Netherlands, which shall I pick to restore?
I have tried with PC Companion but this says I cannot update it anymore. Probably because of the boot.img of CM10?
Thanks in advance!!!

Just flash a stock FTF from your region. Or restore the backup you made before flashing cm10 (You did make a backup didnt you!)
Or flash any stock based kernel for your device and any stock based rom.

No, you can pick any ftf for your phone, but one for your region will be best. No you dont need a kernel as that will be included inthe ftf.
You wont be able to use PCCOmpanion anymore as you have unlocked the bootloader.

Dear all.
Is there any way, like we have in Samsung, that we can download a unbranded FW from somewhere (like Sammobile for Samsung), flash it in our device and it doesn't change the "counter", or something, that does not include loosing warranty.
My point is that my device comes with a lot of apps from my carrier and I do have to wait for the upgrades, and now I just want to use an unbranded one, and release me from this useless apps and get fastest OS upgrades...

Repair with sus. Go to sus folder in blob_fs if I'm not mistaken! There will be three files with different names than the others and are also bigger in size. Move them to flashtool folder, open flashtool and choose decrypt files. Do the procedure and you are ready! Will post a thread tomorrow here!

If you ever have a warranty issue or a need to return the device to the carrier to be looked at, just flash the stock rom back on via flashtool.

Untill then, happy flashing

OK so you guys mentioned towelroot I will now go look into what this is and how to use it. Thanks again!

You don't need to unlock bootloader
But if you do be careful
You'll lose DRM keys and is not reversible

I really don't know if installing CWM is a good idea or not, I see this guide but it's not clear which files I should download.
I found a Cyanogenmod thread earlier for locked bootloaders on these forums, I'm gonna try to find that now and install it.

Sent from my C5302 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi people of XDA, this is my first post on the forums. A few hours ago i rooted my C6903 using Kingroot and all went well (as far as i know.) I then installed remove kingroot and install SU file.i mainly rooted the phone to use Freedom,GameCIH, Game Killer, Game Guardian to try and get coins on a game called SongPop. However, as i was using freedom to buy coins ingame, the app crashed (and so did GP Store/GP Services.), I realised those apps havent been updated in years and i decided to give up. So i said what the heck and uninstalled root through kingroot. (again, all went well afaik). I then tried to open the GP Store. but it gives me some error that i cannot remember "white screen with try again later" so i thought restarting my phone would fix it. Anyways i hit restart and THE PHONE DOESNT BOOT ANYMORE. it shows sony logo then black screen then sony logo and so on. I am NOT an expert and i would very much appreciate a fix that doesn't include flashing a firmware as i've never tried it and cannot afford a new phone. also i live in a 3rd world country and my internet speed is very slow (~40kbps). please explain to me as you would to a noob
XDA, you are my last hope

Once Again Thank you SO much for replying . can you please confirm that this guide (cant post links) is legit? also. some people have said that i need to flash the older KitKat first. Is this true? Or can i just do what the guide says and flash the 5.1.1? (I was on 5.1.1 before bricking my phone).
1. how to install the newest generic Android 5.1.1 for Sony XPERIA Z1 C6903
a) first of all, check your firmware version (if you already have the newest one, you do not need this tutorial)
b) download and install latest Flashtool from this article
c) download also latest Android 5.1.1 (mirrors Google Drive or Mega) for Sony XPERIA Z1
d) paste the ftf file downloaded in step c) to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool
e) open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded firmware, than click ok. Important - if you do not want to delete any data of your phone, just uncheck flashing userdata.sin file. All data will remain in your phone, but sometimes it can cause additional troubles. So it is better (and I recommend that) to do the backup of your personal data, than proceed with clean instalation and then restore your personal data.
f) turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
g) after few minutes all is done and your phone gets the new firmware
