Hello,
There are rumours over the internet that Motorola might skip Android 5.1 update for Moto G 2014 and going for Android M/Android 6.0 update. Anybody have any idea about this? I have already started to wonder because Moto G 2013 received Android 5.1 update quite a while ago and all that Moto G 2014 got was Stagefright fix.

Moto g 2014 will get 6.0. We always have our devs :v
Yes please skip 5.1.1 and wait another half year for Motorola to release M for Moto G2, when the next Android version will be released by Google and skip Android M too. :good:
Google App Version 5.3
Please install the new google now launcher on play store, moto g 2nd gen.. vertical app icon nd search option is the new change
Devices with Android 4.4 and higher, reports say, are eligible to get the update. However, it was reported that only Android M preview 3 devices will experience the perks of the update.
A few months ago, the company announced that the Now on Tap feature would not be included in the Android M preview testers. The update though may imply that Google has changed its mind.
Meanwhile, the update also brings the vertical scrolling app drawer to the Google Now Launcher.

developers created 5.1.1 based roms while it wasn't rolled out by moto g, so will they get interest in developing marshmallow for our device?

Hell yeah. I don't care about the Moto update. We have a great community.
Well, finally we have the news. Motorola is going to provide Android Marshmallow update for Moto G 2014. Here is the link from Motorola official blog: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html
The best part is, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/2014
So most probably, we won't be getting any Android 5.1..1 update.

Well, Motorola has announced Android M/Android6.0 for Moto G 2014. It is on their official blog and you can check it here: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.in/2015/10/marshmallow-and-smore.html.
Also, their software upgrade page now shows information about Android 6.x Marshmallow
Check it out here: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.cust...news/g_id/2014
But what we need to keep in mind is that Motorola is very much slow when it comes to releasing updates. Nexus already got it, I am sure, like Android Lollipop, many of other devices would get it before Motorola releases.

Well, let's just look at the history:
Android 5.0: We got it after months after Google released it for Nexus.
Android 5.1: Nexus got it long time back, we didn't get that one.
Android 6.0: You say? maybe June 2016 or something

Can someone make an AOSP Based Rom with Marshmallow for Victara? Thanks:laugh:
Considering we literally only just got any build on the n6 I'd say give 1-3weeks for moto x and g
Yeah, its gonna take a couple weeks at least. Likely Motorola will release the update for the pure edition before someone builds it from source.

Yeah, we'll see. CM-13.0 has started being set up (all the Marshmallow AOSP stuff is merged) and today they seem to be working on a bunch of kernel-level stuff for Nexus devices. The 2014 Moto X might come soon but who knows. Also, who knows how long Motorola will take to push out that update. The 2014 Moto X got 5.0 within 2-3 weeks, but it took 3-4 months to get 5.1, so I just have no idea.

Is there any custom android 6 ROM that has Moto app? I meant THIS
OR, Does the ROM support the Moto features of :
Moto Display, Moto Voice, Moto Actions, etc... if you know what I mean. If so, give the link for that ROM
I can't afford to lose this, I love this mobile for those features.
OR ELSE, Is there a separate Moto app for a ROM, if so, please give the link for ROM with that Moto app
OR, Does the app directly from the Google Play Store works? If so, give the link for that ROM
Also, if you could give me the default CM13.0 link along with this, I'd be greatful
Here, the ROM I'm asking is totally Android 6.0, Marshmallow and the device is totally MOTO X (2013)
Thank you guys for the concern, you guys rock!
If you want to use Moto display, voice, and etc features, you should stay on stock.
There is no official CM13 for Moto X yet.
You can try Team octOS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/romghost-team-octos-oct-m-t3324780
Or search XDA forums for unofficial CM based marshmallow ROMs.

No, device support ended in 5.1.
And no custom 6.0.1 rom will have the Moto functions because that's proprietary and Lenovo won't release the drivers.

Fun Fact: CyanogenMod 12.1 is the latest CyanogenMod version available for Moto X, AND Moto G received 13 snapshot just a while back.

To be fair the 2013 Moto G was a much more popular device than the 2013 Moto X.
Even unofficial ROMs are becoming more rare to our device, I have a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and it received a very functional Nougat ROM just 5 days after official launch, meanwhile I don't see any interest from a kind developer in porting Nougat to our phone.
Despite that I don't see much reason to buy a new phone right now, my phone is fine even after more than 2 years owning it.
Will Moto G⁴ play receive Android Nougat
Yes, but you're asking in the wrong section. There's a question and answer sub forum.
The Harpia(g4 play) will get nougat within the next 60 days.

You misunderstand. Currently I'm rooted so Moto won't allow an OTA to N. So I must go back to MM stock first, when Moto release N.
So my question is more how do you go back to Moto stock.
My question was NOT about custom rom N (which you replied correctly to build or wait for a builder).
It's out for G4 and G4 Plus, when it's coming to us?
Already been confirmed

Same issue here.
I want to buy this phone and root right away, but I have to know that I will be able to update to the official Nougat release once it's out, and for this, it has to go back to stock (recovery and all).
I found this mirror: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/harpia/official/RETAIL/
Is this the necessary file? How do you flash it?
I downloaded the zip I mentioned (corresponding to the version of the region, like XT1602) and I checked the files against the ones mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/manual-ota-update-process-step-step-t3206049.
They match. So I guess the process is the same, and we can use it to go back to stock when the Nougat OTA is out.

I also have questions about that.
I think Android 7.0 needs the Open GL 3.1 native support and the snapdragon 410 processor (with the Adreno 306 gpu) in the Moto G4 Play has support for Open GL 3.0, so it seems the G4 Play is not compatible with Nougat.
I'm considering buying the Moto G4 because it has a snapdragon 617 cpu and an adreno 405 gpu and definitely supports Open GL 3.1.

The problem is not necessarily with Nougat, but it seems the Open GL 3.1 or Vulkan API are now required for Google CTS (someone on reddit said this is related to the updates being bundled with gapps), so Motorola can't roll the official update.

Understood.
However, Google announced in 2015 that their platform would be supportive of the Open GL 3.1 ES for the newer cpu's going forward. The snapdragon 410 is a dinosaur by today's standard and even if Motorola rolled out the official 7.0 update to the G4 play I'm not sure the 410 would perform well with it.

Maybe. Not sure. I wouldn't count on getting the update though.
There is a soak test going on right now for the Moto G4 and G4 plus. I'm probably going to get the G4 so I can have Nougat and possibly Android O when it is released.
Hi,
I don't remember who initially made the Android 7 port to Moto X2, but I remember it was a good port...
Any thoughts to the Android O version?
As videos I've seen, seems to be really similar to the 7.0 version, so I guess it's the same drivers?
I hope we can get the O port, that first port from the 7.0 was my daily use and it was good.
I assume we will get Android O but it wouldn't be until Nov-Dec or early 2018. At that point this phone will be knocking on 3-4 years old and may be deemed obsolete. In the US we didn't even get marshmallow stock! So were already 2 versions up!
I think Moto X 2 could manage to live with a Stock Android O.
At this time, even "Android Go" would look so slim/lite for this device, which is stronger than the hardware Go is intented to work with.
The real problem would be that, almost for sure, Lenovo wont add any new "major update" (with its respective support) for Moto X 2. As our partner, shawndak, said before, some variants didn't even get Android M.
Would be an absolute surprise if we reach an stock Android O (or Go) for Moto X 2.
I know Lenovo would not put this update to the device, I'm asking for the guy who made the first 7.0 port to do this one to =D
I remember his port was very good... I've used several months before Cyanogen 14.1 was released because his ROM was more stable.
Most probably it will eventually get a Android O port, yes.
But I would be more interested in getting the Android N builds stable first hahahah

That depends on your concept of "stable". Even CM13.1 still got some bugs.
