Not necessarily apps, but I can't get "OK Google" to recognize my voice when I try to record it and video recording is crashing the camera app.

In my case the ok google mic issue was fixed when I got rid of the boot warning (I needed to get rid of TWRP). Recording works perfectly for me in Camera. I do experience video playback issues in Photos app when playing with the "create movie" feature.
Snapchat is broken too. If you take a picture with the front facing camera at least, it turns the image upside down. Do not know if it does this anywhere else. I already went back to 5.1.1.
Google wallet didn't work for me today - NFC didn't trigger at the terminal.
Also, VoLTE on Verizon isn't working, can't even enable it on my phone, there is no Advanced Calling setting.

Volte works, but you have to remove it from your account via VerizonWireless.com then readd it.

VoLTE definitely works on Verizon. I didn't have to remove it/re-add it. Just go into your dialer type *#*#4636#*#* and enable VoLTE flag and then turn on Airplane mode and turn it back on and the setting should be back.

does okay google work for you when the screen is off and NOT on the charger?
The only app I had problems with (that wasn't mentioned) is CheckBook Genius 3. In M, that app can no longer see (or restore) its backup files, even though it can create new backups in the same folder (which it still won't be able to see).
Other than that, I had the same issue with FolderSync as reported, and Okay Google wouldn't work at all (even though I tried the "disable wi-fi" and "use alternate launcher" fixes as instructed in other threads). This last was the killer for me, and I'm back to Lollipop for now. :crying:

The 65MB update? I've done this and my calc doesn't talk. I would check the Language and Input options, and the accessibility options.

Problem with that is you can't use it in pop up. Which I need for work. Main reason I buy devices with multi task/window. Hopefully someone will figure it out.

I've been able to somewhat narrow it down on my phone. I have accessibility turned on for both Pebble & Lastpass. If I turn both of those off my calculator will stop talking. Turn them back on & it's back at it

Ya I usually root my devices but I usually wait a couple weeks before doing so. But with no lag finally on a Samsung device in not sure if I will. Even though I probably will[emoji2]
Turned lastpass off and stopped talking. #confirmed
Turned off accessibility to augmented pro and calc stopped talking.
Don't have people or last pass and its still talking. Also other people reporting this issue are having problems with the s voice voice feedback greyed out in s voice settings. Turned out it was greenify for me. Uninstalled and calculator stopped talking and svoice started to. Hope this helps someone.
I had the same problem and have fixed it. I just went into applications
manager and force stopped Samsung text-to-speech engine. The calculator is no longer talking back to me. :good:
Yeah I have that problem too. I have tried everything mentioned here and it still keeps talking. It is not usable this way.
Update. Found out the problem. I am using the LG Bluetooth headphones and the BT reader app. I had to go in to accessibility and under services turn off the BT reader.
I use ok google all the time to send texts especially when driving. frequently i am getting an error where she says
"actually, i can't do that while the device is locked" after unlocking with fingerprint it isn't recognized that the device is unlocked for some reason
it seems to be a MIUI problem as there is a huge thread http://en.miui.com/thread-274084-1-1.html
anyone know a solution?
also, one suggestion from Google is to just turn on Trusted Voice so that you can use the OK Google command when the device is locked. when i turn this on the OK Google command does not work and is not recognized no matter what screen i'm on let alone with the device locked
anyone ran into similar problems with the Mix?
I have a similar issue...If I disable lock pattern and then re-enable it it will work. A bit of hit and miss really. Would love a proper solution if there is one.

Same. I can't get it working from a black screen. My other devices will wake up and "listen". On the Mix, I have to activate the screen and then say ok google for it to listen. I did the resetting the lock screen and it did help get ok google to listen on the lock screen. So thanks for that.
I also have the same problem with the latest Google app but it works with version 4.92.16 except that I'm not able to use ok Google from screen off. I hope there's a solution to this
Not sure if i just haven't used OK Google enough yet, or if it has legit fixed the problem...but after converting google to a system app i have not run into this error yet with over 20 times using OK Google. we will see if it holds up.
did you have this problem before making it system app and went away after?
I figured this out.
Browse to Google App > Settings > Voice > "OK Google Detection" and enable "Personal results"
Kind of a workaround, since this allows actions when your device is locked, but works well for me.
I don't have that option for enable Personal results.
I only have
From the Google App
From Any Screen
Trusted Voice
While Driving
All four are enabled.
personal ressults has always been enable and still no joy.
I don't even have while driving.
Only three options.
I don't think it's a MIUI thing. It happens on my Google Pixel XL with the latest Nougat. Same message.
Hi,
Running on epic pro rom, latest instalment. Everything stable so far. But I can't get GA working properly. I'm on Google app beta, play services beta, cache cleared, English language.
The settings in Google app even look like it's installed. But I can't open it with "ok, google" (voice trained ok) and when I long press home nothing happens...
Anybody got it running?
Thx

Only got it working with xposed and GA module. Trying lineage OS it works but not from locked phone.
Just to be clear. With xposed and assistant enabler module you got it working from screen off? Cause I tried the said module in the mentioned ROM and it ain't working at all...

using xposed assistant enabler, i didn't make it work from screen-off without charger plugged in. tried several times, since the guide to enable it is tricky.
I am pretty sure it is a limitation of the chipset.
I had this same problem. I scratched my head after looking at the logs. The reason why it doesn't work is because the GMS (and other?) Google APKs were located on /data and not /System.
Move it to /system and it should work.

Working for me on the global rom from screen on. Go to the google app, settings, voice, "ok google" detection. Train it, if you havent, and enable the top two options (the third will then be enabled by default). Then, never open that section again. The next time you open it, it will switch back off - but it should be working if you enable the options then exit the google app. Works for me, even survives a reboot.
I've installed the apk for the Google dialer (https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...292-bubble-t3708218/post74588791#post74588791) and would like to be able to use that on phone calls, including the pop-up that I used to get on my nexus 6p. Right now, when I make phone calls even from the Google dialer, it defaults to the Samsung Phone. I understand that I need to disable the Samsung Phone (whose app info points to *Contacts*). Is that true, if so how do i disable it? the disabled button is greyed out.

Guessing that you are not rooted, here's your options:
1) Package Disabler Pro: (or AdHell 3,Google &/or XDA Search for the how-to)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpremium&hl=en_US
2) Disable via USB Commands:
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
The former is easy enough to re-enable the Samsung Dialer/Contacts,if necessary.
The latter (ADB Commands) requires a factory reset to bring it back.
I just tested on my Note 9,using Package Disabler Pro & the Google Phone/Contacts works just fine on its own.

i managed to get it to work by setting google phone as the default (without disabling the samsung phone). however, i'm still not getting the floating bubble for an ongoing call if i navigate away from the phone app though. any idea how to get that to work? yes, you're right. i'm not rooted.

Ok I was able disable the OK google and it only listen when I press the mic icon. Now no matter what I do in the google app settings it's always listening. My only current option is to disable microphone permissions which isn't what I want since I can't press the mic icon and speak.
I had it setup on the note8 with android 9 to only listen when the mic icon is pressed. Got the note 9 did the same settings and it still responds when I say OK or hey google.
Currently have the microphone permissions disabled since my phone does NOT need to listen all the time. Is there a setting I am missing?
I had to remove the Google search widget to stop it from always listening. It is stupid that they removed the option to simply turn it off.

Exactly. Disable the "Google" app improve the memory and battery usage, imo
Interesting, I disabled the Google app for about 30 minutes and could not use voice with chrome so turned it back on. The mic permissions are enabled but OK google is now disabled yet I can push the mic icon and use voice for searching again.
So its exactly how I want it but a very strange way to get there. I have no clue how this worked but it did.
Well after a restart and about 20 minutes it went back to listening.
That's odd - it's definitely off on mine, but I can't find where I deactivated it! I use Nova Launcher, and there is an option in the Settings under 'Gestures and Inputs' to disable 'OK Google hotword' - maybe that's how I did it? But 'OK Google' doesn't work anywhere on my Note 9 (did this to save battery and because I have a Google Home & Mini).
EDIT: And I do have the Google App installed.
Not sure what's going on. Google runs me around when I tired to ask them. I know exactly where the setting is and its disabled but still listens for the "OK google "
Personally I would love someone with influence to get attention to this but it seems a little hit or miss on setups so not sure. I have the mic disabled.
I did do a really stupid test if my device was listening and used let's say red flag words to see if anyone was listening. Ironically the words I used are related to an event happening in my city which was horrible timing on my part but semi proved to me no one heard it.

Yes that works. The only thing I don't want is it to disable voice in chrome app which this does.
The settings to disable OK Google are there but don't function and google themselves either don't understand what I am saying or don't want to admit the setting doesn't function as it should.

It's not easy to find the option to turn off the Google assistant, but it's there.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) default apps > device assistance app
You'll want to change "device assistance app" to "none" and then "voice input" to "Google". The you should be all set.
To go a step further, you can disable the Google assistant from running at all on your device.
Google app > "more" (lower right hand corner) > settings > Google assistant > assistant
Then, at the bottom you should see "assistant devices" with "phone" listed. Select phone and then toggle Google assistant off.
This should do the trick.

I was able to do the first part of device assistant app to none. The voice input option doesn't allow me to pick just google option.
Either way this has solved my issue and is now working they I want it to. Going to try a restart and see if it persists unlike my previous attempt.
Thanks again for finding this.
I like having the search widget and be able to type or voice input my search if I don't know how to spell something. With all the news of companies admitting they listen and record voice stuff having my device always listening is very unsettling. I guess it's a little paranoid but I live in a bad part of my city and I really don't want to be red flag because I walked by a drug deal which happens all to often.
That's strange, because that exactly what it should do when you disable Voice Match, since it is said that's it's actually the "anywhere OK Google listening".
Try deleting your voice imprint on the same setting page too maybe.
I wonder why is working fine on my phone and not on others.
