[Q] Help! Soft-Bricked G900A on 5.0 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hey guys, after updating my phone to lollipop with the flashfire method to keep root, I (stupidly) used the settings->delete all data to do a factory reset a week later. Now my device bootloops. I can get it into download mode, but I was unsure what I should flash. I didn't see a 5.0 stock firmware that I could use with odin. Can I just flash an old kitkat firmware and be fine? Thanks in advance, everyone!
Edit: ANSWERED!

If u used @muniz_ri way to update ur fine to redo.
If u did ota u can't on 900a.

Yeah I used his method, thanks I'll try that now.

Thanks, that worked and all is well!
Now how to mark this as answered...

Ur last post .

Fixed --brick fix
:angel:FIXED!!! NO BEST BUY NEEDED!!! THANKS TO NIKEDROP FOR POSTING THIS
If you need help I solved my soft brick. Put your phone into download mode then flash the stock kernal using odin. Reboot then flash using odin the stock partition. While this wont downgrade to 4.4.X because you are on ota 5.0 you will be able to get your phone back to 5.0 lollipop. Thanks to Fitz110 who uploaded these files and for the solution. I posted the correct links. If they have been removed, best of luck to you. But what I did was reflash modem and kernel that should work if you brick it.
I'm also lost as well. I have my s5 for AT&T still on lollipop 5.0. I tried to downgrade before reading this and so far still don't have a working phone. Kies doesn't register the phone but I do have odin working and the stock recovery works and have already flashed the kernal plus stock partitions and still not working. Noth flashed without issue. I've also tried flashing the oc4 with built in odin and it fails every time. What else is there to try?

How to (re)root GT-I9295 after update to lollipop?

Hi everyone,
Sort of a noob question here. I am aware that the answer is very possibly already hidden somewhere in the numerous posts out there, but im getting kind of lost in all the different posts that are all somehow related to this topic.
So, I want to update my already rooted s4 active (i9295) to the latest version of Android (Lollipop, Android 5.0.*). I found enough information on this and I'm comfortable doing this.
BUT, to my knowledge, updating my rooted phone to the latest version of Android will make me lose root privileges. I haven't found a clear description on how to re-root my phone after updating. Is anyone able to help me out here?
Summary:
-------------------------------------------------------
ℹ Phone: GT-I9295
ℹ Current OS: Android 4.4.2
ℹ Custom Recovery: CWMR
-------------------------------------------------------
Objective:
-------------------------------------------------------
Re-root GT-I9295 after update to Android 5.0.*
Thanks a lot, Thomas
Flash custom recovery with Odin, then flash SuperSU in recovery.
No luck yet....
thanks for your anwser!
unfortunately I cant seem to get a custom recovery flashed through ODIN. I tried both CWM (CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5) and TWRP (twrp_mythi_8.tar).
Flashing the official Android udate worked fine, so I am now on android 5.0.1, but I lost root ..... and I dont like that much... I want my root back....:crying:
Dont know if this matters in any way, but when ODIN is done, I dont get a green box that says [PASS], but blue box that says [RESET]
Any advice on getting a custom recovery installed???? Can I install it through ADB?

d8389 has given working steps to same question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60376515
Also recommend to read my thread about failsafe method to flash anything (next post). And specific how to get from stock to custom recovery 1st time. Please use Odin 3.0x, multirom TWRP made by spegelius and SuperSU 2.46. The files that you have tried is old and made for jellybean and Kitkat. Most recent links is in my thread.
Thanks for your reply! It was no longer needed for myself, because I already got it to work, but I'm sure it will be helpful for others!

You cannot update to lollipop using twrp.
It has to be done using odin.
If you want to stay 100% stock and rooted then you need
to odin flash twrp and cf-autoroot.
If you want to flash a custom lollipop rom then you will
need to odin flash lollipop official firmware and odin
flash twrp.
All custom roms are pre-rooted so no need to root them.
Good luck!

Thanks.. So can I just straight up update from what I'm on now?
Just put phone in download mode and update via Odin correct?
Will this erase my stuff internal memory? Movies/pictures
Yes you can. You should back up your stuff though because you'll want to do a factory reset or erase data to get the best results with lollipop.
Although, I did all that and I've got my movies and pictures.

Be sure you get the proper version of the lollipop N910T tmobile
firmware from a reliable source like http://sammobile.com and
flash it using odin.
Before flashing new firmware it's always best to do a factory reset first.
Back up all your important stuff first.
Good luck!

factory rest /put phone on download mode and update by Odin on my computer correct?
Sure is a big file to download :silly:
That's totally safe.
I just odin flashed.
I didn't erase data till I flashed my rom.
Admittedly within a minute of going through the process.
Mega's instructions are good. You just stop at 5
odin reads and i get the com light up and reads it but it wont find my lollipop firmware i downloaded on the pda part

You need to navigate in odin and find the location where you saved the firmware file.
There is a box next to the PDA slot and you need to click it and use it to locate the file.
Good luck!

Yes it's perfectly safe and doing it that way you will not loose any data,
passwords or settings.
It also is a lot faster than downloading the firmware file.
I am not sure if rooting makes a difference, when I updated using kies
it worked fine for me, kies did tell me that I have un-official firmware
but it gave me the option to continue which I did without any issues.
With kies it takes less than 1/2 the time for it to complete the download and
install/update the firmware compared to a standard download and flash..
Good luck!

Unbrick sm-g900a on OC4

So here's the story. Over a year ago I rooted my wife's phone with fireflash and the stock rooted oc4 rom. Well my wife got tired of the update popup so I decided to put it back to stock. I made a mistake I removed root thinking it would allow me to update to the latest att ota. Not the case after rebooting the phone wouldn't get past the att logo.
After this I tried wiping the cache then factory wiping the phone with the same results.
Then I tried flashing the oc4 partitions and kernel. Still no bueno.
I then tried downgrade to nce. Really no bueno. I got it to try and boot again by flashing the partitions and kernel above.
Now I'm looking for advice on how I can fix this sooner rather than later to prevent suffering the wrath of my wife.
Thanks in advance
Did removing root cause the issue, or trying to (taking the) OTA? It makes a difference which bootloader you have. And what does your bootloader read at the top (vol down+menu+power buttons at the same time, then volume key to continue)?
I believe the bootloader was of1 not oc4. As I rooted and installed oc4 through munizre's tutorial. More importantly I was able to unbrick the wife's phone by loading the full stock 5.1.1 update some gent had posted on this forum.

N910T Back to Stock... Help Please.

HI Just wanted some advice. Im on 6.01 Overdrive rooted but would like to go back to stock as I feel I'm not using any rooted featured and also I'm getting problems with Oculus etc.
My Question is what's the best Firmware to flash in Odin that if I decide to go rooted again it won't block me or upgrade my bootloader. I'm on Baseband PE3 at present.
Do I need to wipe anything? Or is an Odin Flash enough. Thanks
I use epg2. You can flash the dev base for that. I pulled the boot.img from it and flashed over to remove root. The 910t had guides to get you back to lp from anything before pj2. Haven't bothered upgrading past that point.
