Hi,
I am using Moto X 2nd gen. from 6 months now and I just love it. However, there is one small thing that I keep wondering whether it is only with me or is it a bug or something.
I am running Android 5.0 and using the active display feature. When I tap the on screen lock/unlock icon, the unlock icon that goes to the bottom still shows as closed lock. It does not show as "unlocked" lock when I drag it down to unlock the phone.
I have already tried booting in safe mode and then back to normal mode again, but it does not work.
Is this a known issue, or is it just happening with me?
Thank you.
If in Active display if u hit the lock icon, at the bottom the lock is unlocked in the circle.
so by dragging you are moving from lock to unlock

Yes, that's what I was expecting but it was not happening.
By the way, I have got hold of it. It was showing as "locked" in circle when I dragged down because I am using a Pattern unlock security. So when I drag it down, it shows that my device has still got to be unlocked by using the Pattern. When I change the screen lock security to None, I can see the icon change to "unlocked" in the circle when I drag down.
Thanks to Motorola support member for suggesting this.
I hope this thread helps anyone else who is getting bugged by this.

I'm not sure if it's just me... but I noticed the active display on my moto x (t-mo) is not active all the time. The good example is.. when the phone display is off (asleep) and you pick up the phone or move the phone, it is supposed to display the time and that pad lock - so you don't have press the lock key to get the time.
On my phone, that works for the most part... but after a while (and I can't figure out what is the trigger/cause), the active display would stop working. When that happens and phone display is off... i pick up/move the phone... screen is still blank. I now need to press the lock button on the side to bring up the unlock screen.
I did find that rebooting the phone will fix this. So, i want to see if anyone else is seeing this behavior, or if I should see about getting moto to fix/replace it - since I just received the phone yesterday.

Do you have a screen protector?
after asking on the moto support site.. the issue may be related to one of the apps. So, I unselected all but the messaging/mail apps, rebooted and things seem to be back to normal now. Make sure you uncheck the box that automatically adds the app to active display and pare it down to the essential apps that really need/use active display.
I was wondering if anybody had noticed this.
When I change lock screen security from swipe to say "lock pattern", it does nothing.
It'll disable other lock widgets, because I guess in 4.3 or touchwiz you can't have widgets and lock patterns (but I digress).
The lock screen unlock will still be a swipe, no pattern.
Anybody else experience this?
Any work arounds?
Thanks.

I assume you changed the timeout for the lock engage?

That baffles me until I noticed I did not change the timeout for the Secured lock time to instant. Then I said to myself, this can be useful. Set Secured lock time out to 1 hour and use the password lock option. If I lost or displaced my phone, it will be password locked in 1 hour but if I use my phone constantly every 5-10 minutes, I still have the benefit of the easy to use slide to lock knowing that it is backed up with a password lock after 1 hours of no activity.
Then I try to repeat this on my old Sprint Note 2, Sprint Note 3, Samsung Note 10.1 2014 and I can't do it. Instead of a slide to unlock within the specified Secured lock time, I am greeted with a totally unlock screen. Which is really bad for butt dialing and accidental touch screen use since the screen is not protected by slide to unlock while it is in your pocket.
It seems this is a unique feature to AT&T note 3.
Try turning off the lock screen effect. I had this problem and I changed the effect from watercolor to none and that fixed it.
Hi, I'm using Note9 with Screen lock type = PIN + Intelligent scan + Fingerprints.
Here is my experience:
[1] When I turn on screen (by the Power button or Home button), the lock screen appears. Here I can swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification bar.
[2] If I swipe the screen to unlock, the num-pad appears where users can input PIN. Here I can NOT access to the Notification bar.
The question is, how can I disable access to the Notification bar at the step [1] above.
(access to the Notification bar is already disabled in the step [2] above).
Thank you guys for reading my query.

I don't see notification when I pull down on the lock screen. All I get is the settings pull down shortcuts.

Weird. On my Note9 it happens as steps [1] and [2] I shown above.
Did you check it clearly by following steps [1] and [2] carefully?
Thanks for your feedback.

I'm using pin and fingerprint for unlock also.
If I press the power button to lock the device , then I press the home button im presented with the lock screen. If swipe up I'm asked to enter pin number. If I swipe down I see the shortcut toggles.
I have my notifications as icons not banners though.

Yes yes I meant these shortcut toggles.
I don't want this to be shown on the lock screen as I (or other people) can change settings by tapping on these shortcut toggles.

I know exactly what you mean. I had the same issue on my Pixel. What is more frustrating for me is that many times when the phone is in my pocket the notification icons get pulled down and something gets turned on/off by accident. There should be a way to disable the notification pull down until the phone is unlocked.

Oh, never mind, I have tested on my Note9 and it turned out that although you can pull down to show the notification bar, you can NOT toggle those icons as it requires the screen to be unlocked before toggling on/off.
So no need to worry anymore.

Yes but here's the problem... if you accidently pull the notifications down and touch an icon and then pull it out of your pocket and unlock it, anything you accidently touched will be turned on/off. Therefore I still wish there was a way to disable it from the lock. screen

Nope, all unattended touches before unlocking screen will not be accepted. I have tested.
You can check it by yourself.

I did test it. From the unlock screen I pulled down notifications and touched the wifi icon. Then I unlocked my phone and the wifi turns off.

I also tested on my Note 9, here's my results:
WiFi can't be turned off unless you unlock the phone right away, so if the phone is locked and you pull down the notification panel and click to turn off WiFi, it will it prompt to unlock the phone, if you don't unlock and screen turns off and then you unlock, WiFi will still be on.
Bluetooth: It can be turned off and doesn't require the phone to be unlocked, but it can't be turned on without unlocking the phone.
Sounds: Ringer can be changed without unlocking the phone, so you could accidentally turn your ringer off
Flight Mode: Can't be changed unless you unlock the phone (same scenario as with WiFi)
These are the only 4 I've tested.

Anyone had any luck with this?
I'm also trying to disable the Notification pull-down drawer on the lock screen for security reasons.
I went through all the menus and settings, but it seems Samsung has removed this option altogether.
I'm using a Note 9, Android 9, OneUI v1.0 (latest as of this post).
When the phone is locked, and I press power button, the screen wakes up and it shows clock and date. If I touch (mostly accidentally) the clock, the phone links me to another screen with just the clock and date from which I can't slide up to call a pattern screen to unlock my phone but I have to press a "<" sign on the bottom right of the screen to get back to the "main" lock screen. It drives me nuts! I want to turn it off but I don't know how. I have stock andorid v10 with stock OneUI v2.5
Anyone knows?
I'm totally in the same boat!
I can already see the time and date, what's the point! So infuriating! Did you ever resolve this matter?

yo bois, has any of y'all resolved this issue? I have the S21U and it has this ****ty thing ._.
I have my P5 which I love. But there's one annoying thing about it that I can't figure out how to toggle: When I turn off the display by clicking the power button, then when I touch the (now turned off) display again (eg whwen putting the phone in my pocket) it turns on in an "unlocked" state. The padlock on the top of the screen is unlocked and I can interact with whatever apps are displayed on my lock screen. If I turn off the display and put the phone down on a table then (at least after a while) when I double click the display it turns on and the padlock is now displayed locked and I can interact with anything until I actually unlock it using the fingerprint sensor.
So my question is: Is there any way I can make the phone lock immediatly and completely when I switch off the display by clicking the power button?
Thanks in advance

Actually yes. But I had that switched on but as it says: "Except when kept unlocked by Smart lock". That I had missed. Smart lock was switched on and I hope that was the culprit. It is now switched off
Thanks for the help!
