Google play services has stopped

I helped a friend root his at&t note 3 several weeks ago and over the weekend it started giving the error message google play services has stopped. He's only rooted and on stock. No safe strap or anything. Someone please help[emoji16][emoji24]

Did you do what I suggested in your other post? If not going to install SafeStrap try going into manage apps for playstore and wrong cache/data for it in there if able.. Other than this plus what already said not sure what else to do atm from my end.
Did you try googling it and see if find others. Pretty sure others have had this and you will find it

Yea I was just telling my boy we gonna have to get safestrap installed and flash a rom. The first time we tried it would never go to the splash screen. Bout to give it another wack

Don't forget you must install busybox first. Download and install the app then you have to actually open the app and let it install. Then install ss and that should fix it. Noticed when I upgraded to Kk, I just installed app and forgot to open and ss would not install the recovery tool I did that..
One you get ss you might not have to install a rom (phone will just be so much better and faster and better battery if you do) and you can just try wiping dalvik and cache. If that doesn't work then get tibu or something and backup apps and then do a factory reset and try starting over if he wants to keep straight stock. But unless he uses all that useless att crapware, then I'll suggest just having him Do a rom. I'm on FireKat and it's the ?suggest give it a try

Can someone PLEASE post the Verizon visual voicemail app for me? I need the apk.

Are you not able to share system apk files yet?
I was hoping you could send me the Voicemail app by just sending me the zip file that ZipMe creates. Its FREE and shouldn't take too long.

Dooh! I missed the .odex file
I guess I was in a hurry and didn't see it...
Well... here you go! (I had to rename the VVM3.odex to VVM3.zip. It wouldn't let me upload as .odex or .ode_)
And don't worry about giving anything.. I'm just glad to help!
Out of curiosity, why do you need the Verizon Voice Mail app? Since we don't have root, you couldn't have possibly deleted yours.. (or maybe you don't have a Verizon phone??)

Ah, sweet!! Thank you for doing this!! I actually have a Verizon HTC One M8. I'm rooted and all, just have had a stressful few months trying to get VVM installed on anything that's not Sense (stock based). I'm running a CM12 ROM at the moment and am doing everything I possibly can to get VVM on it...need it for work.
I had no idea you didn't have root yet Damn! Well, I'm sure one day soon you'll wake up and see the Droid Turbo thread flooded with people celebrating the new found root method! ...just sayin

Hey, glad I could help! I was on CM since CM7 (and still have CM for my Nexus 10, Moto G and Galaxy S3 (both are my test phones)...
But I never thought anyone would actually want Verizon apps running when they have root already lol..
If I could, I would purge them from my Droid Turbo... I HATE seeing the VM service running on my phone, so I kill it manually every time, since I can't disable it)
Well.. again, if you need anything other VZ apps, just let me know.

Sorry for the noobness,,,,,but could guide me as to how to install files both onto my N6? I have a N6 bought from T-Mobile that I'm using on Verizon. All is good except that my Visual VM is not working because the Verizon VM app is not there. Hopefully if I can install this I can get it to work.

The easiest way for you would be to save the 2 files (rename the .zip to .odex) and click on the the .apk file with a File Manager and select "Install" when asked. Make sure you have the "Install from Unknown Sources" enabled (from Setup, Security).

It should...
Rename the .zip to .odex and place both files in the same directory and use a file manager program to install. (Make sure you have the "Install from Unknown Sources" enabled.
Or if you have root, you can place them in the /system/priv-app/ directly (no need to install)

Thanks bro. I don't think I will risk it either. There are also no comments there that confirm that it works...
At the moment I don't have a real reason to root, but i'm sure I'll need it in the future. Hopefully we will have it soon.

Since you have the N9200 as well, could you do me a massive favor? I'm really dissatisfied with the scrolling behavior on mine. I've made a thread about it in the General section.
Could you let me know what software version you are on? Have updated to the latest one (N9200ZHU1AOI1)? But most importantly: do you notice stuttering behaviour in scrolling through apps like Google Play store, Youtube, Facebook etc...?

No problem, I'll try to get to it as soon as I get home, Going to Uni now.
Though I must say that I dont really use those apps because I live In china. If I use them I have to open Astrill VPN. I just Tried it with facebook, and it seems pretty smooth, except when it loads new content because of Chinas great firewall.
(Im also on the new version, but today I tried the "Package debloat" app from the Q&A section and disabled 150 or so apps)

So does anyone found any clue for N9200 root (OI1 firm) ???

current progress and planned
unlock bootloader
install twrp
backup everything
reboot
notice GAPPS get removed when you unlock
verify my knox container still works (says KNOX has been locked contact your IT admin need to change lock type)
flash stock n9200 kernel with ',verify' removed (aka allows system to be mounted and modified, without this change a kernel cant boot a rooted system)
reboot and verify knox container still works (same message)
flash gapps reboot and verify
flashing back gapps didnt restore everything i was missing (looked like every app i downloaded from play store was also removed), so i reflashed the stock system i pulled out of odin tarball
restoring data
Damn im glad I backedup everything as soon as I got recovery, first boot after unlocked BTloader, it was next reboot that it deleted all my data ( so after reinstalling stock system and restoring my data, everything is back to how it was)

reboot and verify knox container still works
flash arter kernel that I merged n9200 sources for dual sim support
reboot and test
(ii know knox wont work with any other customer kernel (i really want knox workspace with custom roms and plan on making it work)

I always use Samsung stock rom only and the root file worked for my note 5.
Have you ever unlocked CRom of your note 5 before?

Never mind. So do you want to try root your note 5 n9200?
if so, I would give you my root file and the CROM unlocker apk for you.
No Deep sleep problem and USB debugging problem already!

Package Disabler Help

Hello everyone,
So I screwed up royally!
I screwed up my image on my phone yesterday and I was on the one before PI4, so in panic, I ODIN'ed files to restore and ended up putting on the PI4 BL which now I am screwed out of ROOT.
I am fine with no root I suppose for the next few months while the new phones come out, but now that I am on stock PI4, I have wifi off and simcard out.
I cannot find a package disabler to disable all the update packages.
Can someone please assist with that.

Any idea how to go about and disable other bloatware, such as t-mobile apps, etc... some items can be disabled in the Applications section, but the system apps cannot.
Please advise

They're coming out w/ v3 of the shield app which has a working package disabler but no one knows when it will be released. As right now that's the only option for disabling apps that I'm aware of.

You have two choices. You can downgrade with this tool (this tool doesn't just do downgrading, you can do a lot with this tool including installing the play store.) or you can use this method

Here's a little warning that forgot about. The tool That I listed if you used the remove Amazon apps feature, it will delete the default launcher, Amazon photos ( its required to change the lock screen wallpaper), and the web browser
