Using mfastboot - Image is to large - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Im trying to install stock rom on my moto g 2014 xt1072 unlocked bootloader.
This is the error I'm receiving in cmd.
C:\Users\MAWiggKTA\Desktop\New folder>mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsech

target max-sparse-size: 256MB
sending 'system' (261762 KB)...
OKAY [ 8.428s]

On the phone - IMAGE IS TOO LARGE appears as well.
Can anyone help with suggestions?

Is your boot loader unlocked?
AFAIK if the bootloader is locked it will proceed with preflash validation of the image but an unlocked boot loader bypasses it

That sounds like the stock recovery. If you want to use TWRP or CWM, you'll have to flash it again.

I've flashed firmware and also recovery but I'm not able to boot into stock recovery. it shows phone with red triangle.
Only custom ROM's seems I can use now, can't come back to stock. other recovery works but not the stock one. and if i open that Aroma launcher you've said to use then it reboots after 30% so that also seems not to be working. MaximusHD 12 runs cool. can it be HBOOT difference ? cuz its 1.55 and 1.54. 1.54 when I flash firmware and 1.55 if I flash MaximusHD12 .

[Q] Recover Recovery and Fastboot?

Ok so I have a HTC Desire 510 and I relocked it when trying to root and now I can't unlock it again. I get the tampered, relocked and security warning messages at the top. Someone told me that fastboot is locked or broken...is it so or is it recovery, because when i go through the process to unlock it again it gets stuck at the screen asking to unlock bootlader and says entering recovery but never does. Any Ideas?
Bumping for awareness! You and I are on the same boat.
So... OP, your bootloader is "relocked".
I just got luck and re-unlocked the bootloader, by following the initial bootloader unlock steps.
specifically, you just need to run "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" and your initial Unlock_code.bin attached in the email from HTCdev is the one for you.
I didn't know why this method didn't work yesterday, but worked just now. so I have an unlocked bootloader again
relocked, cannot unlock
In bootloader i see "RELOCKED". When I flash again the bin file, it tries to reboot to recovery, but it enters in a loop (entering recovery for ea second, showing some lines and restart and so on), and the bootloader remains "RELOCKED".
PLEASE HELP!
---------- Post added at 09:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:59 PM ----------
this is an evil circle:
1. if i try to reflash the Unlock_code.bin file, after choosing YES, it tries to reboot in recovery, but the recovery it seems corrupted.
2. if i try to flash the custom recovery file, it hangs with the following error:
c:\adb>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
target reported max download size of 16777216 bytes
sending 'recovery' (9968 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.066s]
writing 'recovery'...

HELP, PLEASEEEE!
---------- Post added at 09:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:17 PM ----------
I managed to unlock again the bootloader, I made these steps:
cannot unlock, RELOCKED hang
----------------------------
1. fastboot oem lock
2. fasboot erase cache
3. fastboot format cache
4. fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
if in recovery asks password and "3 tries left", just press vol up + vol down to enter wrong pass, then it will tell u, "press a key to reboot", press a key
5. enter bootloader, and SUCCESS: Now it says "UNLOCKED"
---------- Post added at 09:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------
Ok, now it's UNLOCKED, but when entering in recovery, it asks me about a password. I can enter it using volume buttons and two virtual buttons on screen. I don't know the password. After 3 tries it tells me: "recovery locked wrong pass press a key to reboot".
I'm stuck here.

I would like to know which recovery you flashed. It doesn't sound like TWRP because they don't ask for a password. Flash one of the recoveries from this page: https://dl.twrp.me/a11/. Preferably the latest one 2.8.6.0.

cdt.bin checks to see if carrier/region match.
guessing some how version on phone got corrupt, and now does not match flash version.
could try deleting cdt.bin with moto-fastboot.exe, but that could make it worse.

I got the 906 to flash successfully, I think. RSD said failed while flashing emmstorage (I think) and the phone said battery low. Good news is that it powers up correctly, it even charges while it's off.
Should I just leave it charging and re-do the flashing when it's done or is it okay like it is??
I turn it on and it has a notification saying "Blank Internal Storage"

bootloader relocked - stuck in fastboot mode

Hello everybody.
My brother bricked his xt1097 recently and, unable to fix it or find someone that could do it, he brought a new phone for him and gave me his old one.
The phone goes directly to fastboot mode, it says "Device is LOCKED" and "Software Status: Modified". I failed in finding an stock rom that I could successfully flash. Current flashed image fails to boot with "failed to validate system image". I cannot flash zip roms as the current recovery doesn't boot.
Bootloader reports version 61.00 (sha-130760b, 2016-08-24).
Cannot unlock also:
Code:
> fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) slot-count: not found
(bootloader) slot-suffixes: not found
(bootloader) slot-suffixes: not found
...
(bootloader) Could not get unlock data!
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s
I am with a very cheap phone right now (Nokia Lumia 525) I would get a really nicer phone if I resurect this Moto X.
Thanks :good:

Yes, I did read. I still could not flash anything. Always fails with "hab check failed" when flashing boot, system or recovery.
I am not trying to flash anything other than boot, system or recovery to avoid further bricking.
Tried all three firmwares starting with VICTARA_RETBR_XT1097 that are in firmware.center
Now I am downloading RETBR_XT1097_4.4.4_KXE21.187-30.3_cid12_CFC to try again
Thanks for your help

Did not get what to do, exactly. The solution doesn't apply for this phone, I think.
---
I tried one more RETBR firmware without success. I am afraid that the bootloader currently installed is expecting a ROM other than the original one for this phone, checking for a ROM of another region or a ROM that I would not find.
Also status code of lock is 0. The phone bricked overnight, which makes me think an OTA did it.

any update with this. I would love to relock my device considering everything else i have tried doesnt work well.
You put 4 steps on sparsechunk, but the rom has 5 sparechunk steps.
is correct to flash till step four only?
Anyway I got this message:
Shu006>mfastboot oem lock
...
(bootloader) Still require signed boot.img
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s

Bootloader is Blocked, but Software appears modified, this I could not solve ,,, if someone has the solution, it would be good
Lol this bat is not for g5s plus. G5s have 5 sparsechunk and not 4.

Yes, you can edit the .bat file and put line 5, I did not do it because I'm using root ...
