My phone lags after flashing this modified kernel
i dont have any problem until now
Nice. I only have 3 question:
1. After rooting, will I still recieve OTA updates when they become available with the new dev previews?
2. Can I use Clockwork recovery instead? My devices never play nice with TWRP.
3. I never flashed a custom kernel, is it any more dangerous than flashing a custom ROM? Can it irreparably ruin my phone? Does this kernel offer any advantage besides permissive SELinux?

1. Yes, it should (or if not, just flash system images / firmware images)
2. Yes
3. If you flash a custom ROM, the you flash a custom kernel. That's the logic. So basically it has the same risk of flashing a custom ROM. The kernel offers some tweakable features (it can be tweaked via an app)
I'm running Code Blue. He just released a beta M kernel on his Goggle+
I flashed @hellsgod kernel and got root. So there's like 3 kernels now that give root. Code blue has one too.
Also with this kernel I get about 6.5 hours sot cause standby is amazing now.

I'm Running M as secondary rom through multirom(with lollipop as primary and Ubuntu )
If I change kernal will it apply to both android roms?
Will this be ok if it does?

Kernel is the heart of your device. It processes all I/O's of your system. Consider it as a base platform or the foundation on which your Android OS works. To run any OS on the device there has to be kernel. Its a mediator between the hardware(device) and software(OS)

May I ask about your usage and all that? Any screenshots?
The best way to root M is this -
Download superuser - https://app.box.com/s/3horxkwkpcqnr64ixbl62vjblqtphco6
Download twrp img - https://app.box.com/s/1e567hg5kjm3eokl866mb69v5pqahuk5
Download the zimage made by @blackbird5308 - https://app.box.com/s/8uc03idcn2oc6wbo0iews8d4trvjyju2
Follow his instructions i screenshot'd -
Then flash twrp (fastboot flash recovery twrp.img)
Then boot into recovery and flash superuser

Changelog 1.2
Auto-full root finally fixed.....
Added ICS Stock kernel LP1 N7000
Changelog 1.1:
Auto-root at each reboot
Tested with rom unrooted
Changelog 1.0:
Added Touch Recovery CW ver. 5.8.1.5
Added Auto full-root and Auto-installation CWManager
Added auto-backup folder EFS (in /data/.Abyss)
Added Battery auto-calibration (you must delete the file /data/.Abyss/calibrata)
init.d scripts support
Added ability to change the bootanimation and the startup sound (in internal usb memory you must create a folder called boot and insert ourselves bootanimation.zip and/or powerOn.wav, then reboot)
Please note:
When you install the fist time the kernel it will run the full installation of the root and CW Manager.
Then, if we want flash again the kernel (after having already installed it the first time), we will have to delete the file /data/test.
Otherwise, auto-root and the installation of CWMManager will not occur
Bug: Usb Storage mount not working in recovery

I had flashed the kernel on imilka's AOSP ICS, and lost root (cannot mount system/ as r/w in Root Explorer, data/ gives message: 'you don't have root access').
I reflashed the kernel with the same result - still no root.
Am I doing something wrong here?
Yes..........
Edit:
imilka's AOSP ICS is aosp rom, not stock
This kernel is for stock rom (chinese leak and derivatives)

Unlikely,
You already have root with imilka AOSP. Why would you even flash this?
hopefully this has better battery drain life. I'm on rocket 1.5, so I just use cwm recovery to flash this?

My apologies. My GNote(international version) is on official Samsung ICS & I just want to root it for the time being till a solid custom ICS based ROM is developed. To clarify I'd like to know which of the stock ICS ROMs in the list(in the thread mentioned in my first post) should I use to flash my Note with. I'm not a dev so if there's a risk in rooting the official Samsung ICS ROM then I'll wait till it's safer. What would you suggest sir?
I got my note yesterday and was overwhelmed with all the threads I ended up flashing ics in Odin and used speedmod kernel. Now all is good and using cleanote ROM.

I'd go back to Gingerbread to root it. Then, I'd flash a GOOD ICS rom (something CM9 based). But that is my opinion, I just don't like stock TouchWiz.
You can Odin one of those stock Gingerbread ROMs from DrKetan's thread in Android Development. I live in the U.S. so naturally I didn't have a country rom so I just used Open Germany. It doesn't really matter.
To root it use this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647148. I already tried in lq2.

Righto. Just a few questions... I went through the entire thread and found folks were having some issues. So:
1. Are you getting permanent full root via this method & SuperSU? Or is it temporary?
2. Any Wi-Fi/ overheating/ slowdown issues after rooting?
3. Do you need to rename CWM.zip to update.zip or do you leave it as is?
4. Lastly, if needed, can custom ROMs be flashed safely, and if so, generally which ones?

1. Permanent
2. No, the same.
3. Leave it as is. Go to stock recovery. Click update zip then choose CMW zip in external sd
where you should put the downloads. After that the recovery will change to touch CMW(use your finger to navigate), it is only temporary, then click INSTALL ZIP and find the rooting zip file you download. Finish you are rooted.
4. After rooting I use mobileodin to flash an ics. But you can flash any ics you want and flash ics kernel speedmod k3-3 to automatically get CMW or flash cf root to get CMW. About custom rom, this i recommend. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088. You must have speedmod k3-3 before flashing it, very important.
If you want another custom rom read carefully their procedure. Different custom rom different procedure, there are not the same. Be carefull, for example if you want to flash paranoid rom you must be in gingerbread rom before flashing it, if not, you will BRICK your phone. The cm9 is the same, you must be in gingerbread. Just read and again and again untill you know what you are doing, if not sure, read the threads, learn from their mistakes, ask question there, they will help you.
Success! I did it but only CWM.zip got installed from the ext SD card. I had to install SuperSU from the internal SD card. Now I'm gonna use MobileOdin to flash speedmod k3-3.
As most of you already know, the Andoid 4.3 for the Xperia V has been leaked thanks to EXR Team.
In this version i deoxeded the ROM and Zipaligned the apks. This ROM doesn't have a kernel with integrated CWM!

I've tried the recovery for AOKP 4.3 version and its working fine.
cant download it.. mega.co.nz keep verifying until 30 minutes and error.. wanted to test it so much
Edit: work well with chrome
Use Chrome or Safari to download from Mega.
That crap doesn't really work well with non-Webkit browsers.

I guees nobody has a problem with root, that's working well.
I share the problem regarding recovery: Backup, whether internal or external SD, is not possible. CWM says it's unable to mount it.
That's a pity because i really like this ROM and I use it as a daily driver. I would like to uninstall some more Sony-Software, but I'm afraid of ruining the ROM and in that case I don't have a backup I can restore

No, only your recommended CWM v8.

use this recovery instead but it is a temp recovery The one posted above has many problems such as a black screen ( broken recovery ) hence I would recommend you to use this slightly outdated by very stable recovery
Well if you decide to use the second one then DON'T flash the ROM I linked you. Because the ROM is kitkat 4.4.4 and the recovery that @Prodean linked is for Jelly Bean.
The recovery is temporary so what I read is that you will have to flash it every time you want to use it. It's temporary so some useful features will be missing. I read some pages and I read that features like backup, restore, and permissions options aren't working [emoji43]
@Prodean, he asked for a recovery compatible with 4.4.x so KitKat not 4.2.x Jelly Bean.

Well every kitkat rom comes with a recovery you see... hence you would not need to install a CWM recovery before flashing 4.4.4 ROMS unlike other phones.. So I'll be guessing that he'll need a recovery for 4.1.2 so as to install 4.4.4 roms

Here are stock kernels that I have modified to not force encryption. Any time you flash back to stock then boot up, your data becomes encrypted forcing you to wipe in TWRP in order to read your internal storage. Flash an insecure boot.img right after you flash a stock rom and you'll stay unencrypted

Nice, any chance we can get a hydrogen version?

I'm pretty sure both kernels are exactly the same as they are the exact same size but I did a Hydrogen kernel as well. It's in the OP.
Awesome! That forced encryption was getting annoying. Would this cause any problems with the newer beta releases/final release? Would it require an updated kernel?

As the newer betas are released I'll update the kernel but from what I see they all look to be the same.

Hi,
Thanks so much for sharing this no force encryption boot img, I hope you can continue doing this with the future weekly betas.
Best regards!

Hello.
Last days I tried to install TWRP on my Mi Max. After that I booted (as described in tutorial) into recovery in order to install SuperSu and get Root rights. No folder was shown and sd card and everything was shown as empty. I even couldn't boot into system (stuck at Mi Logo)
Now my question: would flashing this Kernel would change these problems I had? And how can I install it without being able to install TWRP?
Any help would be very appreciated as I'm new to Miui/Xiaomi.
Best regards
Michael

Since you're currently encrypted you're gonna end up having to wipe your data in twrp (Wipe--->Format Data--->type in yes) then reboot recovery and you'll be decrypted. I would back up your internal storage if you have anything important on it before you do this. As long as you flash a decrypted boot.img when you flash back to stock you won't get encrypted again.
Thank you very much ?. Oh once again full wipe......what a pity?

Hi,
Any chance we can get the newest 6.8.25 no forced encryption kernel for hydrogen? I tried using your 6.8.18 kernel (which booted fine) but cannot connect to wi-fi.
Thanks and best regards!

Dear @ajsmsg78! This can be used only for stable 8.1.1.0?
I do not know what is this, but I sent you (and I hope really for you) an adfree gift.
