any recommeded?
I have no G4 at the moment.. Just want to buy one. The availability of a waterproof case makes the difference. Lifeproof planned to build one for s6.. But right now g4 is my favorite buy.
I suppose at this point you need to look for a universal case such as this one http://www.amazon.com/JOTO-Universa...Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=zg_bs_9375358011_1
Up to 30 meters and fits phones up to 6 inch diagonal - if it fits the iPhone 6+, it'll fit the G4
There's tons of them on Amazon but that one looks like it's the bestseller with a very good rating.
I would like a lifeproof-like one

Are you reading through your thread?
I posted a link of a bag case. You think maybe he was referring to that?
Okay, will visit it
If you don't want to spend $100, Tanga sells universal velcro pouches. I capsized a canoe last weekend and it saved my phone. They are cheap but they work and for that price, you don't care if you lose them. At 2 for $9, you really can't go wrong.

Hi!
Anybody seen something similar to this?

for LG G4? Waterproof case would be awesome. I hate those bags so I don't even look at them
this might be an option

I have the Joto pouch linked in this thread for my G4. The transparent window fits the G4 size perfectly. It is thick enough that you could put in a few credit cards and cash or key. Now the bad part is that the touch screen works well as long as the bag is dry. As soon as you go underwater or if the bag is really wet, the touch screen is mostly unresponsive. You might get lucky and get a few touches in but definitely no swiping action. I could use the camera by double tap the down volume button and take pics using the down volume button, but that's about it. If you are looking to check your email under water, forget about it. Oh and because you cannot tap to focus, the underwater pictures do not come out that great. Here is a pic of my pool vacuum in action.
This universal waterproof case http://www.witrigs.com/universal-waterproof-case-for-smart-phone-acid-blue is what i am using. And it's cheap now.

This case is NOT waterproof. I bought it from Amazon, which stated it was waterproof and I knew it wasn't to begin with because I had the same case for my LG G2. It is, however, one of the most durable cases I have ever owned.
Does the case can floating on the water?

Does the case can floating on the water?my girl friend buy a case for iphone 6 and her waterproof case cannot floating on the water...
Hard to find a waterproof case for G4,otterbox and arozell Tank could be a solution, yet from my experience both are not water-resistant instead waterproof, the difference is waterproof support diving into water and water resistance is for unexpected water such as rainwater and water splashing, so firstly you have to get to make it clear that what exactly your request.
Besides, lovemei powerful could be another solution for water-resistant,yet the love mei case would be a little bit akward with its triple protective design, some one may think there comes a bulky, yet its performance on protection is outstanding if you don't care the additional bulky as well as tiny mobile signal missing.
Arozell Tank: http://www.arozell.com/lg-g4-tank-armor/
Otterbox Defender: http://www.otterbox.com/en-us/lg-g4/defender-series/lgx2-g4.html?dwvar_lgx2-g4_color=20
Love Mei: http://www.lovemeicases.com/love-mei-powerful-for-lg-g4/
Has anyone found something. I routinely check around each payday but after going through tons of "waterproof" cases which are actually "water resistant" and not waterproof... I'm not looking for a bag, but a case...
Related
So what are your thoughts, will you use a case with your NS? I have been using a HTC Desire without a case and not a single scratch on it (touch wood), but it also utilizes more scratch resistant materials.
Well I think we should base it off of how the current Galaxy S phones do without a case on the back. I do not want a case, but if the back is going to scratch easily, then I would consider it.
I hope it comes with a neoprene pouch like the original Nexus One does...
Based on the unboxing videos the Nexus S does not come with any pouch.
Best buy just listed the accessories they will have available on launch day. Not very impressive at all, mostly generic looking accessories.

Holy crap, those are the worse cases I've ever seen!
And this: http://mobileaccessories.bestbuy.com/smartphone-experts-desktop-stand/5A100A6285.htm
Are you f'ing serious? You don't deserve to buy a Nexus S if you buy that thing.
almost all of those are just generic cases that will fit any smartphone. Probably gonna be a couple months until we see specific nexus s cases.
Anyway, for me i'm going to be getting an invisible shield for the front and a zagg skin for the back in a little custom design by me.
I'm going to use a Case-mate Barely There case without screen protector (in order to protect the back cover from scratches when I lean it on a table etc., for a better grip and for a minimal drop protection without being bulky) and a Mofi pouch (to protect the screen and the camera lens when I put it in my pocket).
Well... if they'll release such products for the Nexus S (but I do think so).

Case-Mate will release products for certain phones if there is a demand. There was a poll for the Vibrant and got about 400+ votes I think. Case-Mate ended up making cases for the phone. So it's still possible.
I just want a nice aluminum case to make it feel more substantial.

Case-mate Barely There ftw! had one for my N1 and sticker bombed it, all awesome
When I was using feature phones I went threw them at a rate of 3ish a year. Since the original iPhones release? I havent had a single issue with smartphones....but I suck at being nice, so I'm really really careful. I am not planning to grab a case (despite the fact that BB put one in my bag and charged me for it without asking) for my NS. The thing is plastic as hell. I have like 20 bowls that have been through my dishwasher at stupid temperatures and had no issues. Im not worried.

The Pop! case (iPhone version: http://www.case-mate.com/iPhone-4-Cases/Case-Mate-iPhone-4-Pop-Cases.asp) would also be nice if you want more protection. Seems like it's the successor of the Tough case.

not sure if you knew this already, but i check the gelaskins site every couple days, and today i see that they put up a link for the Nexus S, if you go to gelaskins.com and browse under phones, there's a Nexus S dry link... could be a sign of things to come
This phone is a scratch magnet cause theres no soft touch or anything on it so as nice as it is without a case it needs one

saw this when browsing cases for my wifes s3. Does anyone know of a case like this for the Note 2 that isn't insanely expensive? Main part is the lip that comes up a decent amount above the screen to protect the screen when the phone hits the floor.

I feel the same way. I'm nervous about dropping my device. The note 2 was actually a gift from my partner, hehe. So I want to take extra good care of it. I even wanted to buy the Otterbox Defender case which would make it a tank. I had that case for my iPhone 3G and it turned it into a tank / brick. So I'm going to stay away from it.
I did buy the Seidio Active Case for my Note 1, and it was a GREAT case. I loved it! It made it thicker, but it wasn't that bad. So I'd suggest a case like that. I wouldn't the Case Mate pop case either, but it's not out yet. Or I'm waiting for the Speck Pixel HD Case. That will make my day! I loved that case so much on my iPhone 4. Great protection, great design. Great case. Until then, I'm going to keep using the original cases and the cheapo cases.
Anyways, good luck! Share your findings / or review your cases I am kind of a case freak. I love cases! :$

I think AT&T got an exclusive perhaps? I mean, why else would Case-Mate NOT want to put it up on their website and sell 100 times more across the globe?

This is pretty close and comes with a kickstand. The only thing I do not like is the hard shell is 2 piece and might be a pain to remove once you install it. The softshell just stretch over the hard shell. Looks like an otterbox defender with raise screen lip.

I will try to post some useful info but I DO NOT have my note 2 yet, it is coming tomorrow.
Here goes to a half-assed review
1) The TOP CORNERS are not protected at all. They are protected by the somewhat thin, soft, flexible material and not protected by at least the outer plastic part like on the bottom and that's a problem. I am guessing corners should be protected the most because that is what causes the screen to crack(unless it faceplants)
2) I am NOT SURE about the how trustworthy the lip is because I NEVER had a case on a smartphone and my samsung vibrant was like an unbreakable brick. From my experience of looking at products through videos, pictures, etc. the lip does not seem like it will bring enough protection for a faceplant.
Unfortunately, I will ask for a refund.
P.S. The shipping part was very fast, the only thing that will make this seller a 6/5 would be if I get a refund
Hope this helps some of you out in your decision

stay away from the dual layer "mesh" like ones on that link. really CRAP
the other ones the fishbone style ones are actually shockingly nice considering how cheap they are. they are NOT easy to take apart again without breaking (slow careful and once you pop the joint use a thumbtack to pop each successive joint)
but they are surprisingly nice.
you can get a case ology case like the one you posted for the Note II I am still waiting for case ology to get on the ball and make the impact case (with the 2 arcs on the back) that I like and use on all my phones when possible.
I also got a Jelly Tank case from korea. its a one piece hybrid but VERY protective. not "as" protective of the screen as I would like but so far very impressed with it.
I got these because of the good protection on the corners and front:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...Case+for+Samsung+Galaxy+Note+II+Note+2+N7100+
Got the "Hybrid" case from ebay and it sucks. Inside hard shell is doesn't fit so the phone moves around a creaks. Hard to use the buttons and makes it too think. I think I migh try the Ionic Guardian case next.

Here is my review http://smartphoneblogging.com/2012/...-its-not-half-as-bad-as-many-reviews-suggest/
Even with all of its shortcomings I prefer this to all those huge and ugly leather cases. Its slim, light and has great grip...I don't care much about the missing magnet, but I do miss the stand function though...
I agree with the review, but they could have done better in designing it. I found a lot of the cases don't look to nice, so I just keep mine in a neoprene case for when I take it out, the tablet is naked.
I have also been thinking to live without a case but at the end I need something which completely wraps around my nexus 7 without adding bulk. I had a pouch too but it was too cumbersome to take it out of it all the time...at the moment there is no better solution for me than the nexus travel case...
Mine, like every phone I've owned lately, lives in a TPU skin, and I just pop it in the lovely Portal-themed felt sleeve my girlfriend made me when I'm out of the house. I don't really trust myself using a naked device at all. The times my devices come out of their TPU skins are almost certainly the time I will drop them... lol
Lack of magnet sleep and magnetic close could have made the case a lot better, but I think. I don't have it yet so I might try to mod it a little with some relatively weak magnets and some tape if I can help not taking the away from its sleekness.

I agree 100%. Just bought original case in light gray and it is fantastic. Such a nice look, looks good quality and feels great in hand. I don't mind the stand, I don't mind that the cover can flip open because there's no security button or something (I have it in my pocket anyway so there's not much room to flap open) what I mind is the magnet because the power and volume buttons are a bit awkwared to press since they're covered with silicone. I mean, it's easy to press, no problems there, it just works - but there is no "click" feeling to it. Even though it is pretty expensive here in the Czech rep (500 Crowns, that;s like 20 Euros) I don't have regrets - the build quality is great and it looks and feels fantastic.
cheers,
D.

True. Basically I'd love to have a smart cover like Apple provides. It only covers the screen. I also think that the Nexus 7 doesn't need an additional back cover.
A small bumper with a screen cover is really a nice idea.
What I like about the original Asus cover is that it changes the color of your Nexus - I have light gray color and it is almost white, so the Nexus looks completely different Yes, no need for back cover, but kinda nice to see it it light gray or any other color they offer
I hear this was a flop to. I was considering accessories for m N7.
But I dont want to loose the back rubber with I love. and the Damn N7 will slip right in my back pocket if I need to go make a tech call.
I'm hereby going caseless.

If just it had a magnet and were able to be folded as a stand, it would be great!

I don't want to manually mod the case, that's not my job. Your solution is nice, but its ridiculous that Google or Asus let it come to this. They should give us a premium case.
Picked one up tonight at Walmart. Was looking for a generic case and I was happily suprised to see one. $29.88. By the time Google gets tax and shipping it was worth the extra.
I really like it so far.
I'm looking for a protective case for my Note 2 that has a grippy/hard rubber feel that doesn't slide around when I lay it down on it's back. I have an Otterbox commuter but the back is hard plastic and slides around a lot if I lay it down unless I flip it over. My wife has an Iphone and her otterbox has a very grippy rubbery feel that is non slip. I wish their Note 2 cases were like that. I'm looking at the Griffin Survivor case and was wondering if anyone has any other recommendations before I try it out? Thanks!

This case has been discussed by many on this forum and it has good reviews. It is definitely protective and grippy. You can even tell from the back rubbery design. If you want something slim, with a soft matte feel, i'd get the Six Abundant Case: http://www.amazon.com/DBA-Cases-Abu...=1378141992&sr=8-1&keywords=six+abundant+case

Do you know if the back is hard plastic or a softer rubber feel on the first one? I need it to stay put on a flat surface as I move around at work. The Commuter slides all over the place, which I cannot have. It will "stick" if I turn it over because of the rubber edges, but I need the phone to be face up/hands free. Thanks again for your suggestions.

From all the reviews and things I have heard about it, it seems to be in the middle. A hard rubber. So it's good for shock absorption. Definitely not a soft rubber because that would wear out very easily. However, from what everyone in the forums have said and from the amazon reviews, it seems like it will stay in place without issue. Also, it's only $10 and from amazon. If you don't like it, you can ship it back the same day for a full refund without any cost to you. Just keep the original box/packaging.
Here's a quote from someone who has it: "The back part of the case (the black exterior) feels more like silicone than plastic which gives it a nice look and grip. I have dropped my phone once on this case and I have to say that this case does a very good job on absorbing impact."

It's a hard plastic exo with a softer plastic inner. I have this case and it will not hold in place on a hard flat surface. Mine will not even "stick" when placed screen down. The kickstand is about a 4/10 (flimsy, too easily collapsed etc)
Also, the buttons, imo, are junk. Last night, after I started using this case again after owning it for ~6 months (used for 2 weeks), I took a razor blade to the buttons. Couldn't stand them being so difficult to press.
However, the drop protection is definitely up to the same level as the commuter, for being such a cheap case.
I'd say it's worth the price, maybe even less.
Also, I have a similar six abundant case that was free. And although it's very nice, and my most used case, it offers very little protection, and definitely not "grippy" on surfaces.
Wish I had some suggestions. The Griffin Sur. looks grippy. If you search the forum here there are a few people that bought one and commented on the quality. I believe they don't officially support it.. So it's actually a knockoff.
Edit2: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174889 has info for the knockoff griffin. Enjoy.

Thanks for the input, bro. That's rather unfortunate. I guess other sources don't have the best description then.
Have you looked into the body glove case? That looks pretty nice and there is a lot of discussion recently on it in the Post Your Pics of Your Phone thread. Check it out.

Definitely bro, maybe others will chime in with different opinions about it.
I was actually just revisiting the idea of the body glove refined gel case (been subbed to that thread for forever). I remember it being a very popular case earlier this year. At one point there was an eBay seller with ~50 of them for $8+free shipping. I should have jumped on it then. I'm just afraid that the lower section of the case (shiny area) will end up scratching easily (read: shiny back mercury case).
Still haven't even gotten around to trying the UAG... Even though I designed and 3D printed some custom inserts.
What case are you rockin?

3d printing?? Dude that's awesome! I saw on geeky gadgets or theawesomer website ad about a 3d real time laser scanner. It was really impressive. Expensive ($1400 I think) but very cool. Right now I'm using my Six Abundant Case. I rotate between that and my white UAG case. The UAG case is worth it for me. It's not super bulky and protects my phone extremely well. I have large hands so I have no problem gripping and using my phone in one hand with either case on. I do have way too many cases at this point. I even have the casemate tough. Totally forgot to mention that. That definitely has a good feel in terms of grip and it is super slim for a fully protective case. Another nice one is the DBA ultra case. I'll most likely be upgrading to the note 3 so I stopped buying more cases, lol.

Yeah! Got into robotics development at my University a few years back and somehow got nominated to be the guy that learns the ins/outs of our 3D printer so that I can teach others everything about it (even the computer science professors). In the printing world, $1400 is fairly cheap for a production item.
I did see the 3D scanner. I believe it is going to be made by Makerbot. We made our own using a Kinect (think: xbox 360) to do real-time scans of objects and roll them into 3D files. However, I usually make one-off prints so I have to build them entirely by hand in a 3D environment.
Agh.. You are making it hard not to press the "complete my order" button for the black uag haha. I too have large hands/long fingers; I often get my iPhone-using-friends asking me how I always use one hand with this beast. If I was a female I'm sure I'd have gained muscle from just using it by now lol.
Forgot about casemate. I'll have to check them out. (have their tough case on my Skyrocket & love it)
I'll most likely be upgrading as well (if not at least a smart watch).. So now seems like a bad time for me to by yet another case.. But.. I have an addiction lol.

That's really nice, bro. I know $1400 is not that expensive when it refers to such technology, but I meant in general - that's like a nice fully loaded laptop price, lol. I'm familiar with Kinect/Xbox360 so yeah, that's really interesting. I'm sure the whole 3D development can take time from scratch. Maybe I missed them, but did you ever post pics of your 3D-rendered cases? I'd love to see how they turned out.
Yes, the Case-Mate Tough is solid. I have the same black one as in this teamvenum review: http://www.teamvenum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=686
I know you complained about the buttons you eventually cut out of your Sentinel case. This is where the UAG shines. The button design makes it super easy to press the covered buttons. The one thing I love about my UAG case is that I can just toss my phone around onto my bed or the table like whatever without any worry. The shock absorption technology on UAG cases is pretty solid. I even got one for my father's S3 and he loves it (esp since he is accident prone/clumsy with all technology, lol).
Yes, the smart watch upgrade is definitely happening for me as well. I can't wait till they release the Samsung Gear this September. It's definitely going to be a step up from my pebble watch, which I use and wear all the time.
Also, your addiction...I understand all too well, especially being a huge tech fanatic. If you don't have a solid protective/easy to hold case currently and work in an environment where you really need that, I would go for it.

I never printed any cases for my Note 2, just the inserts for the UAG case with lettering and glow in the dark filament etc. I did make four cases for my gf's S3 but in the end she moved to a pink folio wallet case (which would take too much time to make haha). I've since then had two dead SD cards.. So I've lost a lot of pictures (backups are my priority every 24hrs now..). The cases were more of a "wow factor" type of thing. Everywhere we went people asked more about her case than my huge phone lol.. Lead to a lot of explanations of what a 3D printer is.. But After a few times on/off of the case they'd get weak and start to crack at random layers of which the printer printed it (our printer has a resolution of 0.001mm).
Started sanding the area of the Sentinel case today that I hacked out with the razor to make it smoother. Only had about ten minutes with some 1600grit paper, so I got one side pretty smooth!
I wanted to pledge money to the kreyos smart watch but got worried that I'd be stuck with money in the air for it and no item on my wrist until next summer.. The galaxy gear is definitely going to be watched (pun intended)! As long as it stays within $200-300..
As you can tell, it's hard for me to commit to some purchases lol!
To op: I remember seeing some peel & stick grip strips for phones. They were just thin clear gel-type adhesive strips. Been looking for them but can't find the review. Honestly, I'd also like a grippy case..
Edit: found it! www.egrips.com/ check it out.
Thanks for everyone's input...much appreciated. I own the Bodyglove case but I is still harder plastic than I would like. Its a decent case though. I had the Casemate Toughcase for my Note 1 and liked it, very protective as well, but still had a hard plastic outer shell. Maybe I'll research on getting some type of nonslip rubber strips for my Otterbox to see how that works. There are a few cases mentioned here I'll have to take a look at. Thanks again to you all.

Try the DBA Cases Ultra protection cases very good quality and good feel
http://www.dbacases.com/samsung.html
I have the UAG case. I have used the UAG line of cases for all my phones and they are solid. They have the bevel in the front so if it drops face down you wont shatter your screen and it has extra cushion on the corner bumpers. They are only $30 - $35 online. They fit on my OEM samsung dock with spare batttery charger.
The reason why I trust all my phones in the UAG case is that my wife's nephew through my note down the escalator at the mall. My heart stopped as I saw it tumble and bounce off every step. When I went to get it, the phone and case didnt have a scratch on it. The otterboxes are great but they are way too big. Especially for our note.
I am using a cheap eBay tpu. Smoke clear and it is rubber. It works great and protects just fine. Best of all it was only a buck and a half! Rubber does a pretty decent job of keeping it from sliding around unless it is on something very slick. keeps good in the hand too

I have the body glove from sprint.
I feel it offers the best for daily use and it has pocketablility which is nice. It doesn't get hung up as it has a glossy surface at the bottom of the phone.
Ordered this case after seeing it on amz traders, figured I would try it. Here's my amazon review.
Great protective case, honestly it's probably the most protective I have ever used. It includes a thick, seems to me, plastic screen protector that's glued in, has covers over all the ports and a swinging mechanism over the 3.5 jack. I have large hands and had to struggle a bit to remove the S-Pen but not horribly, the charging cover is a bit stiff requiring several attempts to get it open in order to charge the phone. I do not have wireless charging currently so couldn't test that.
The buttons all work properly, a bit stiff but imagine they will break in a bit over time. It takes a bit to get your phone in this case, 4 screws and several minutes, it is not a quick change case. You put it in this case when you know you'll need it, hiking, constriction work, biking etc.
Lastly is the weight, it's heavy. Double the weight of the phone heavy. With all that said, for a protective case you are not going to beat it, it's that solid. It sounds like I don't like the case but I do, I wouldn't call it an everyday day case with the weight but I am certain it would protect my phone in all conditions I could find myself in. I did not remove my tempered glass screen protector prior to putting it in the case which I am sure probably make things a bit tighter but most of my cases do not have one built in so I'll keep it on.

I noticed the Amazon listing mentions a tempered glass screen protector but you said it's plastic.

Yeah, I think it's plastic tho. It's pretty thick, doesn't sound like glass when tapping my fingernail.
Holy crap that thing is ugly. Looks like it was take right from a Transformers movie. Why buy such a sleek and nice phone just to slap it with so much uglyness?
They might rule in advertising, but I would bet Spigen sells a lot more cases than Otterbox does. I see hardly anybody with an Otterbox, but people who do have them it is very obvious and noticeable because they're enormous and look absurd, especially large phones like the Note. It looks different than a normal case that most people have, which is why it's a conversation piece and people know the name. However, even with the size, at least Otterbox makes decent looking cases of high quality. This thing is fugly with those black accents and ugly 5ive logo printed on.
Is there even access to the s-pen?

Yes, the red lever thing swings open and allows access. Honestly, I sent it back to amazon. It just made the phone too heavy to actually use, intact it fell out of my hand because of the weight. It's a shame because it was definitely a change from the normal cases on the market.

LOL, I didn't mind the look so much as I wanted protection. I work in construction and welding, lost several phones to drops that normal cases just can't protect from.

Thanks, that makes absolutely sense. I absolutely understand that for some users it is imperative to have protection and that looks are 100% secondary.
I just donĀ“t understand most people that pack their phones into such things while sitting at a desk the whole day.
In your case, 100% agree.

I ended up getting this case thru AMZ. I took a very sharp knife point to the screen protector and couldn't scratch it, so it may actually be glass.
I got this too, but haven't actually received it yet. shipped from china and its taking forever to get here!!
