Would love to see Google offer some kind of trade-in program for Nexus devices, whereby you could trade in your old Nexus device for a discount on a newer Nexus device. For example, being able to trade in a current gen Nexus 7 to get a discount on the updated version expected to be announced at Google I/O this week. Discount would only be redeemable for buying another device from the Play Store, and old devices could be recycled by Google for parts.
Google would develop brand loyalty, ensuring current Nexus owners are more likely to stick with the Nexus line, as well as encouraging others to join the Nexus bandwagon. And we Nexus owners would get lovely discounts on upcoming Nexus hardware.
What do you guys think about this?
As someone who ordered a Nexus 4 yesterday, I would most certainly love to see this.
Especially if a new Nexus phone materialises at the I/O in a few days!

No chance imo
How much more of a discount do you want? This isn't the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S days where to buy an off contract Nexus device sets you back $500-$600.. A Nexus 4 16GB for $350 unlocked/contract free is dirt cheap and almost in "how do they even make a profit?" territory.. If Verizon had this thing available to kill your wallet with it would be $100 w/ a 2YR contract, $600 retail/contract free and neutered w/ delayed updates and non-functioning Google wallet. Same goes for any current generation Nexus device.. They are insanely cheap already..

Personally, I'd be happy with somewhere between £25-£50.
Then again, I'm easily pleased.
what a stupid idea
you can sell youself for more then any trade-in program can give you. i sold my 8G N4 for $340 shipped. (shipping out tomorrow)

And this also
Had a real hard time trying to sell my Nexus 7 at a decent price after Google discontinued the 8GB model (I had the 8GB model). A trade-in program would've made things awesome
Would definitely also give some points to brand loyalty, but then again, I don't really even plan to ever buy a non-Nexus device already
Sell it on swappa. There's your trade in program

A trade in program would make things awesome...although there's like no chance that's going to happen since the nexus 4 is so cheap already lol

Nexus phones don't really reduce it value a lot after time. It's really difficult nowadays to find a new Gnex for less than 250-270$ and a used one in mint conditions for less than 200 (if you even find it).
So I see no point on this as Google will never offer you any amount close to this. So you better sell it yourself and upgrade. That's what I did.

2 weeks ish. The thing that worries me is last year the N4 went on sale in the US and Canadian Playstore at the same time. This year, with the new Nexus 7, I believe we had to wait a few weeks to grab it from there. Here's hoping the N5 doesn't do the same =[. With the original Nexus 7, did we have to wait as well? Anyone remember?

What about ordering from the american play site and getting it shipped to a mailbox just at the border. (I live around Vancouver, BC)
I'm hoping it goes on sale in Canada and the U.S. at the same time. I haven't had much luck finding out much for carrier release dates though. In Canada, I use Rogers (AT&T) and in the U.S., I use T-Mobile. For the most part, their networks are fairly compatible. Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians, happy Columbus Day Americans!

Yeah! I prefer to get mine in-store as I get to enjoy it right away. That whole camera sticking out I really want to see as well. The inconsistent reports of the removeable battery is yet another thing I need to figure out. I like to have apare fully charged battery on me when travelling.
Highly doubt that there is a removable battery. Power bank works quite well

What are the chances that Google releases the nexus 5 the same day as the US version and doesn't charge us extra for Canadian prices?

Very slim since Canadian dollar is only 96cents.
think our price will be at least $20 more... nice tech Halloween treat

Can't help since I got the 32GB but shipping was $17. Set to leave the 5th. Taxes depends on your province I'm sure.
Well You Kinda Knew It Was Going To Happen..
When Google announced their " Silver Line " of products.. and these new products were going to go main stream retail and now it seems with the Big Four carrier's as well.. that, the price of entry was going to go up.
But an 83% increase in price over the 16 Gb entry model and roughly 62% over the 32 Gb version of the previous Nexus 5 to a whopping $650.00+ Tax.
And.. I'm sure the carrier's will offer the N6 @ $199.99 down with a commitment.. ( T-Mobile of course will go $0.00 down and 24 equal payments ) but you know the carrier versions will come with bloatware.. and will AT&T , Verizon and Sprint lock them down like they did their versions of the LG-G3 which all but halted development for that device on those carrier's?
If you can still get a *bloat free* version of the N6 directly from Google.. are you willing to pony up $650.00+ Tax & Shipping cost for the Nexus 6?

I am pretty sure they will do the same like Motorola and keep the price relatively low

$650.00 is the price..
I'm in Canada, and it's 750$. It's a little too steep for me. I'll hold off for as long as my Nexus 4 is still relevant.
Price of the phones here are pretty much all the same anyway (mostly $600+) so I'm used to that [emoji19]
But the N6 looks like a direct competitor to the Note4… Hmm hard decision.

Nope I'm not paying
Nope. Was hoping to buy the 64gb one, but $700 is too much for me on a phone. I might have paid $600. Some day maybe, when the resale price drops. Hopefully there's no supply/production issues, and new resales don't get inflated like they did with the OnePlus One.
Bought a used Note 3 off Swappa for $350 instead. T-Mobile one too, so at least I can root it easily and if I get flash-happy and feel like setting the KNOX counter to 0x1, at least I can try some ROMs and kernels.
I've seen it live, it's an amazing phone! It feels great in hands and it's moving like the wind on the web and apps!
I'm still hoping the new and/or "cheaper" companies will push into the western market and stop this inflational pricing, like the Moto G or OnePlusOne
definitely won't pay 500 bucks or more for a phone
If I had the money I would have not paid $650 even for a Nexus phone plus this is too much considering I could get a phone with almost the same specs half of the price. I'll just get a Nexus 5 or Nexus 9(depending on the price)
650USD...That's about 500 Euro.
Do you lot realize that's what the Nexus 5 cost when they finally managed to import it to the Netherlands, several bloody months after the release?...
Ths Nexus 6 doesn't even have a price here yet, but if you think 640 is bad, the average price for a high-end smartphone here is 800 euro, 1025USD.
So yes, I would happily pay 500 euro for it. If it had a MicroSD slot, anyway.

It's hard decision to make, I have a Nexus 4 and skipped N5 for N6, but completely in splits right now. There is no official info on price here in India, but 650 USD translates to Rs. 39,750 and 699 USD means Rs. 42,750, I guess there will be local taxes, if I consider other flagships, S5 Exynos is down at Rs. 37,000, G3 at Rs. 40,000, Z3 is at Rs. 49,999, so taking these into consideration the asking price for N6 is okayish, but when I consider the reported OPO launch in India at the end of the year at Rs. 22,000 and the Moto X (2014) at Rs. 31,999.. I am not able to make my mind up.. both of these are great devices and they will eventually get Lollipop.
PS: I almost forgot the monstrous Lenovo Vibe Z2 here with 801, 3GB, 16MP OIS Cam, a 6" QHD Screen and a healthy 400 mAh battery available at Rs. 32,999/- Its hard decision to make!
Short answer: Hell no.
Long answer: Considering how expensive new smartphones are, its no surprise how expensive the N6 is. Some rather rich people or Nexus fans will get it, but I have never bought a smartphone over €300.-
My current phone, the Z Ultra, fulfills everything I want and I bought it for only €250.- 3 months ago. The difference between Snapdragon 800 and 805 are not that big, at least in everyday use.
Well, at least I hope this nexus will have a better quality and purchase availability.
Considering that the new nexus is 6 coll, well...
My Z ultra isnt that out of standard anymore.

^ this. I still own a GNexus, skipped n4/n5 for a n6 (to be honest, 6 was not meant as "6 inch display" but as n5 successor)
I think I will get a One Plus Two (?) or something like that
Willing? Yes
Able? HAH!
not really
Paying that much for a device, which decreases in price pretty quickly is like buying a new car: if you really like it and you won't get buyers remorse, feel free. Not for me, though.
The price is a bit high.
What I really don't like about the Nexus 6 is the long hole below, it looks too much like a Moto and it just doesn't look good with it.
Price in Norway is $865 for the 32GB version.
Hopefully the price will go down a bit when it's available in the Play store and other stores here.
No
Just got a payout of £350 from my insurance company for my old nexus 6
I love the nexus 6 got loads of accessories for it bla bla
If you had a choice of phone would you get the nexus 6 again or move on?
If so what phones would be better, love my nexus 6 but want to make sure its still king of phablets
Cheers guys
Moto X Style or one plus two
what's the average waiting time for plus two?
Im going to get a chinese nexus 6p only £100 extra but no warranty but have bank insurance
What would be the best options for selling my white nexus 6 32GB in The Netherlands?
The phone is in very good condition, and all works. Was thinking of asking 125 euro for it
That sounds about right as I just purchased a brand new shamu for $200 USD.
Phone has been sold.
