Eligible to unlock and root ? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

EDIT sorry only confused myself I have the "pure " moto x I thought this was a special edition moto x with pure stock android instead of moto "pure" which means no bloatware from carriers and unlocked which mine is so I have the pure edition and it qualifies for unlockings
Mods can close this if you like

If your device is XT1092 then it's NOT pure edition, it's retail. You can unlock your boot loader on Motorola website, but if your device is XT1092,your warranty will be void.

Is your bootloader unlocked?
Unlocked Root for Moto X
Google search...or read something in this forum. Sorry...but all the info is here.

No you can't.

Need A Few Questions Answered.

Okay I am wanting get a Moto X soon with my contact expiring, and I am in to custom ROMs, rooting etc, but when I search the Moto X there's information i'm confused on.
First can non developer editions be unlocked? I am with Alltel atm which is a CDMA carrier who have the regular Moto X, can that be unlocked?
They are being slowly taken over and transitioned to GSM by AT&T, I like the idea of the Moto X but if I can't both root it and unlock the boot loader I am going to skip it.
I don't have the kind of money to buy the developer edition just to use it on my current carrier.
Thank you in advanced!
The moto x DE isn't much more than the regular one. What carrier? Verizon and at&t can't be unlocked. Or rooted if they come with 4.4.2.
Honestly, if your into flashing And whatnot....you want the N5. No question.
As much as I love the X....its not a flashers phone.
If you want to unlock the bootloader, you need to get an GSM version. Get the Dev Edition version so you won't lose your warranty from unlock it.
If you want to flash rom there is no point of getting the Moto X for two reason;
1. There is almost no roms for it.
2. You lose all the features of the Moto X. If you don't want the Moto X features, there is no point of getting it, there are other phones with better specs.

Which I love because now I spend much more time actually using the phone and it's practical features rather than flashing.

Yes, but I heard with ATT and Verizon not yet for ver 4.4.2, I could be wrong. But as long as you buy unlocked version getting bootloader unlocked is very easy.

At the moment, if you're already on 4.4.2 with a Verizon or at&t retail phone....there's no way to root.

[Q] Pure Edition's bootloader unlocked ?

Hello, I wish to know if the Pure Edition has an unlocked bootloader ? The Moto Voice and others Motorola features are they presents in the Pure Edition ? Someone know if in Europe the MotoMaker version is only a Pure Edition ?
No it doesn't have an unlocked bootloader, I will never buy a phone with a bootloader already unlocked when shipped, which is insecure.
It, however, does have an unlockable bootloader which you can manually unlock through Motorola website: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth
Whatever default Moto X features should be included in all the variants. The Pure version for US will not have LTE bands support for Europe and you will only get 3G.
Yeah I mean unlockable sorry for the mistake. Thanks for your answer !

Pure edition vs unlocked? Both have an unlocked bootloader?

I want to get the bamboo/ white moto x , but it's on 500 eur ( 32 gb) on Amazon and 550 eur on Moto maker, I don't need the moto maker version, since I want to go with the stock white/bamboo configuration, but on moto maker you get the pure edition. As far as I know the unlocked gsm version has a locked bootloader and if you want to unlock it you need to use Motorola's website and lose your warranty :crying: , am I right?
Can you unlock the bootloader from the pure edition without voiding the warranty? I just want to root to install xposed but to me it's totally worth the 50 extra euros if I am going to get to keep my warranty
On motorola's website you get the following message "You have only yourself to blame. Unless you have a Developer Edition device, once you get the unlock code, your device is no longer covered by the Motorola warranty" , notice how they say developer edition and NOT pure edition, I'm quite confused ...
Pure edition is also known as a Developer edition. For more info please see this thread:

Thanks! Good to know, the bad thing is that it appears that MotorolA does not honor the warranty for some people with the pure edition and for other people it does

Pure Edition or Normal Edition?

What is the difference Moto X 2014 Pure Edition of the other versions , with the Brazilian for example?
Which is better?
**Sorry for my bad english!

Pure edition does not lose warranty when you unlock it's bootloader. If you plan to flash custom roms or root the system, you won't lose the warranty with the pure edition.
