Hi all,
I'm wanting to root my Sony Z3 Compact but I can't get passed one of the very first steps.
The phone is connected, it's in USB Debug mode, everything seems fine. But when I run 'adb devices' in cmd, it shows my phone but always has 'offline' next to it.
I have the latest drivers and the phone appears in device manager with the ADB drivers. It finds the phone, knows it's there, but says it's offline.
Please help because this is doing my head in.
I'm running Windows 7. Let me know if there's any other information that you need.
Cheers,
TS

Try this one. It's the ftf for the xperia tl. the one you linked is for the t (although I'm not fully sure that it would matter). Also make sure you charge your phone for an hour or two to make sure it has enough power to finish the flashing process

Make sure the phone isn't plugged in to the PC yet.
In the Development forum, there is an updated version of Flashtool (v0.9.11.0). Are you using that? If not, maybe uninstall your old one and use this one.
After you install Flashtool (I recommend installing it to a simple path like C:\temp\Flashtool), navigate to the folder where it is installed. There is a folder in there called Drivers. Run the EXE file in there. It will offer to install a driver for your phone, and also 2 other drivers you will need (Flashmode driver and Fastboot driver). Check all 3 of those and do the install. Once those drivers are installed, Flashtool should be able to recognize your phone when it is in Flashmode.
*Note that if you're running Windows 8, it may get *****y and tell you that the drivers were not installed (and it won't say specifically why). The reason, I believe is because the drivers are "unverified" or "unsigned".
To turn this Win8 feature off, go to the bottom-right corner of your screen to get that stupid bar to appear. Click Settings. Then at the very bottom, choose "Change PC Settings". Then go to General. Then scroll it down to the bottom (Advanced start-up). This will require a restart to show you the options. Do that and you will see "Troubleshoot". Click it. Then "Advanced Options". Then "start-up settings". Then hit the Restart button (again... I know.) When you see the Startup Settings screen, you'll see option 7 is to disable the driver signature enforcement. Hit F7 to do it. Then it will boot into Win8. Then you can run the Flashtool Drivers install to install your 3 drivers (xperia model+the flashmode+ the fastboot driver). You will notice that it will ask you a few times if you're sure you want to install the unsigned drivers. Say yes to all. Once it's all done, you can restart the machine and carry on with your flashtool flashing.

this is Lt30p!!It's for XPERIA T no TL You Sould flashed Lt30a Roms
plug your phone to Charger for 4/5 Hour then flash an Lt30a Rom
this may work
Here's an example of an FTF that is Xperia TL specific: (LT30at_9.1.F.1.120_ATT.zip). Found it via google. It is available at: http://d-h.st/TlU
To clarify the models mentioned, here is what I have been able to gather quickly (Please correct me if anything below is wrong or missing):
LT30at = the Xperia TL (which is the Xperia T, branded as AT&T, I believe)
LT30a = the Xperia T (the Canadian version T? This is my phone. I have flashed many LT30p FTF's on it successfully using the standard Flashtool procedure.)
LT30p = the Xperia T (for the rest of US carriers? and rest of the world?)
Hi all
I am wondering if any of your can help.
I have connected my rooted Xperia Z1 to my Windows 7 x86 PC and it installed the drivers automatically. I have enabled USB debugging in the developer options and confirmed that ADB is running on the device.
When i start ADB on the PC and then get it to display a list of devices there is nothing shown and the same when i try to use the wait-for-device command too.
It is shown in device manager as Sony Xperia Z1 under Portable Devices with a hardware ID of COMP\SONY&C6903&1.0
Any help on getting ADB to see the device would be most appreciated
Thanks
Adam

Hello mate, check out this post I have written a while ago. Usually ADB problems arise if you have other interfering software running or if you had installed ADB drivers for different devices in the past:

Thank you for your reply.
It is more than likely the second one as there are drivers probably installed for the Dell Streak, Galaxy Note, Kindle Fire HD, Sensation XE and now the Z1
** UPDATE **
Thank you, that worked perfectly, although i did accidentally uninstall my mouse driver lol as i removed the USB Composite Device entries too as that is what Windows reported it as first time round.
Now though it found the ADB interface seperately from the phone so all working now and tested in ADB too

I am glad I could help Maybe consider putting a "[SOLVED]" word in your thread title

Wrong place, sorry
Hi folks.
It's been a while since I was last on XDA Developers site. And once again I need help please!
I cannot install the correct USB drivers for the Xperia Z to my laptop using a USB cable?!
I can connect the USB cable, and the contents of the phone are displayed. However before flashing the current ROM, I could see two storage areas - Internal Memory and SD Card Memory. Now I only see a list of files/folders are root level. I don't think this has anything to do with my USB driver installation problem?
Either Windows 7 does not recognise the USB drivers or I am not using the correct drivers for the Xperia Z (C6603)?
The phone itself works fine.
I have searched this forum and the whole of XDA Developers site and found several solutions, but to no avail. I am on the verge of pulling my hair out (whatever hair I have left, that is)!
I followed several solutions found on XDA Developers.
1. I downloaded and installed the flashtool-drivers.exe, and in the process I selected the required Xperia Z and SO-02E drivers and successfully installed these, however the yellow exclamation mark is still displayed in Device Manager??
2. I also downloaded the Xperia Z drivers from http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/. Yet still Device Manager displays the yellow exclamation marks under Modems, next to Sony HS-USB Android Modem and under Ports, three entries C6603.
3. I cleaned the registry with CCleaner, but still the yellow exclamation marks are seen in Device Manager.
I don't know where to go from here. Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed something? Am I using the incorrect drivers?? Do I need to start again??
I have attached images of Device Manager, Failed USB installation and Flashtool driver installation.
Phone
Xperia Z (C6603)
Android version 4.2.2
Build: 10.3.A.0.423 (flashed using the flashtool)
Laptop
HP Elitebook 6930p
Windows 7 64-bit
I need your help please!
there are drivers in flashtool folder

Ok well go to your device manager and uninstall the xperia z driver, restart your computer and after that install the drivers using the flashtool driver program again
thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate your advice.
I uninstalled the Xperia Z drivers from Device Manager and restarted my laptop. I then ran the Flashtool-drivers application and installed the relevant drivers, unfortunately the same problem still exists.
Not sure what else to do? May be flash some other ROM, although not sure whether this will have any bearing on the current issue?
Hi folks.
As per my problem above, does anyone have further idea on how to resolve the issue please?
Desperately need help!

Hs-usb mode
HELLO how enable hs- usb mode for sony
to include in the drivers directory before I use Flashtool to try and get my phone up and running. I am having the same problem as many of the other Xperia Sp phone users on here that have a phone that will not turn on no matter what you try, and that the LED blinks red twice every time you try to press the on button. And pressing the yellow reset button seems to do nothing for it either. I have downloaded the Flashtool application already, I have downloaded my Xperia Sp's version of firmware, and I am now charging the phone for 24 hours. I just do not know where to find the drivers to include in the driver's directory, since I can not get the computer to recognize that the phone is actually connected to the computer. Any advice as to where I can download the driver's for this phone or even what they are called, then I could probably find a copy of them through the internet on my own, but as of this time I do not even know how they are labelled or what they are called. My Sp's Model # is the C5306. Thought including which model it is might be important since there is 3 different models of the Xperia Sp.
Thank you for any help and Assistance anyone might be able to give and for your Valuable Time
Best Regards;

I can guide you if you can install Ubuntu. Flashtool is available for Ubuntu and it works buglessly. I, too, was unable to run it on windows due to some driver related issues but Ubuntu runs it without any issues.
I think it's in your phone only. When you get a notification saying install software. I don't know for sure but tou can try that, if it doesn't, I'll give you the drivers

Drivers needed for using flashtool, adb and fastboot are different from those needed for PC Companion.
Check here = > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
I'm sure this is been written about several times, but I just bought a new Z3 compact and have attempted to update the firmware through the Sony PC companion app. When it is prepared and it tries to turn off your phone and install the S1 drivers, it is unable to do so. I have manually downloaded the Z3 compact drivers and pointed device manager to them but they will still not install. Google search hasn't helped anything although I've seen references to fast boot drivers. Is this what I want? I assumed I needed the USB drivers and I've only grabbed the ones from Sony directly. I'm not interested in modding the phone at this point, just installing the stock updates.
For what it's worth Sony PC companion can recognize my phone when I attach the USB when the phone is powered on it's the update process where it stalls out.
Thank you in advance for any thoughts.
