[Q] want to unroot using mac - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

is this possible? i absolutely love this phone and have no use in keeping the root phone is really fast and smooth stays at a constant 1.2-1.4 free ram i am just looking to get a clean start and picking up the knowledge pretty fast and also deleted a package from ti backup that i want back lol totally noob move so if anyone can help i would really appreciate it
thanks in advance

I would just wipe out SuperSU in Titanium Backup. Or run a Windows VM, and flash to stock with Odin if your daring enough.

thank for the reply will a restore from smartswitch work as well?

Would using ODIN to flash back to stock and using the Master Clear remove root?

ODIN back to stock will remove everything and put it back to the state that the phone was in when you took it out of the box. You will, however, still have some file system stuff hanging around from before. You'd have to clear your SD card of that information. But you should be unrooted and back to normal.
So if I were to use ODIN, could I still use Titanium Backup to get all my apps and games back? Because I want to go back to stock without root, but still have my apps and the info for them too.
nope - titanium backup needs root to work
Why the concern about root?
I just feel like going back to stock for a while, no real reason.

Unless you've really made some major changes, i.e. new ROM, Kernal, radio, you are at stock. You could just flash to stock, root, re-apply through TB and you still are at the base of the phone settings.
So TB will still have my stuff even if I do the flash? Or do I need to save the backup to my computer?

Save back up to your computer if you are going to master clear. If just odin flash not necessary
If you're still wondering about this, I unrooted using the root file found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
Then, I unrooted using the unroot.zip file found in the Galaxy one click root/unroot rar file. In both cases, you copy the file to your phone's root directory and then rename it to update.zip and follow the procedures in the thread linked above. Linke for the galaxy one click root/unroot is here:

Unbricked phone, is it still rooted?

Not sure how to check this but I semi bricked my phone last week, and thanks to you guys here for helping me getting it back up and running.
But how can I check if it is still rooted?
Some of my programs are not working anymore
Thanks
Download root checker from play store. That app will simply tell you whether you are rooted or not.

If you don't know if your phone is rooted it means you don't use apps which requires root which in turn means you have no need to root your phone!

I have not re installed them yet ok, and as you can see from the previous post I have already determined it is not so why you felt the need to make a snide comment is beyond me.
Root very quickly. Upload the official ICS ROM with PC Odin. Then upload the stock recovery using the kernel from this thread. I've done everything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191

Hi there, can you flash the SuperSU.zip from Recovery? I've lost root numerous times (after flashing certain kernels) and SuperSU works fine for me.
I hope this helps. Please hit THANKS if it did.

Still have Odin on my phone, will that need to be removed if I am adding ICS with it already attached?
Also my kernal version has changed like 2x today from all of the updates (LRK currently) will have to find a new way to root vs the way I did it when I was on KKA or whatever it was

Charging issue

Hey guys, little bit of a problem, hope you have some ideas.
Basically, My phone has decided it wont be charging anymore, the battery charges fine in my wifes N7000, used 3/4 different charges, all work fine with hers, none which work with mine, looking inside the charging port, it appears to a little burned, theres an area which is quite black inside the port.
So, the phone is rooted and running a lightweight LSZ leak, its not returnable to samsung (and likely, my insurer) in this condition, problem is, if the phone isnt connect via USB, I wont be able to flash an official firmware via ODIN to remove the rootage.
Is it possible for me to perhaps flash an older firmware through CMW and then try and update OTA to remove root, or, am i destined to charge my battery from my missus' phone from now on?
Many thanks!
if you rooted why not use mobile odin to flash a stock firmware..

Yes
Edit: also read thoroughly as you already have the link there are few things you would require to install for the lite version.
Under default settings of mobile odin, it will remove root. But before you go about uprooting, make sure your counter is set to 0. If no then you will need to use triangle away app and it will need root access.

Thanks guys, I already run the triangle remover when i first rooted my phone and the counter is still at 0, plus i am rooted. i notice in the instructions there is some flash kernels, will I need to flash this first via CWM before using mobile odin or will Philz kernel be fine for me?

It is an apk file.
I think for the lite version you will need to download the odin flash kernel first. Just follow the instructions. The paid version automatically downloads it.
Thanks again guys, one final question then, if you was returning your note to the Samsung centre would you use the kies GB, ICS or JB official ROM? Considering making it the JB, what do you think?

you can take it to service center with JB or any of 2 older versions, does not matter.
Edit:as long as firmware is for you country and samsung has released Jelly Bean in your country.
Luckily the Netherlands has LSZ so that's what I'm going for tonight, thanks for the help gents!

Soft Brick after Wipe in Safe Strap

I am new to the note 3 and did a full wipe in the 'advance options'...Coming from the s4 that was standard and it apparently soft bricks the phone here.
I am able to get to download mode. It just hangs on the Samsung screen.
Do we have the odin files for 4.4.2? I was on N900 I think. (Literally just got the phone so cant remember)
See if you boot into recovery by holding power, home and down key. If so download a custom rom on your computer and put on a sd card and try to install that way. Otherwise try to odin back to stock. Good luck

He said he's on 4.4.2, so he most likely has the A3 bootloader. You cannot restore back to MJ5 once you're on the A3 bootloader.
Looks like the only way is going to be Best Buy

im guessing carl1961 fix should be good for the ones stuck on a3 bl's but not sure. if you softbrick again after that then a reflash of nc2 is the way to go.

Let me guess. You wiped your stock slot clean then rebooted? LOL
You need to get with @carl1961 and he'll get ya back and running. Don't even think about the "restore to mj5" thread. You have the locked bootloader and it wouldn't work for you.

Ill try that if BB fails. I just want stock NC2 so i can root and safestrap away...
Cant believe I soft bricked a phone lol. This is like my 6th droid and ive never bricked b4.
At least im on MLG now. I bet BB can update it to NC2. I tried to sideload the update but it expects MLD.

I have no idea. I was attributing it to the fact i did a full wipe in advance. I cheeked all expect micro SD then flashed Dynamic Kat and the theme. Then it wouldn't get past the Samsung Logo screen.
Maybe it was an MD5 mismatch...

you cant use the restore to mj5 method, different bootloaders. your best bet is bestbuy to reflash the official until somebody figures a method.

I noticed my Note 4 did that as well. I do not know what has changed. I guess you just have to clear cache and data in recovery first.
Do a factory reset first? Flashing in Odin keeps settings as it allows upgrades?
