I've heard this one has been 'modified' but I was wondering if it was a hardware nod or software. I would like to know if its possible to flash another firmware for Cricket functionality
[Q] Possible to get AT&T 4.4.2 update on AT&T Moto X without being an AT&T customer?
I want to purchase a used AT&T Moto X 16GB from a private seller. I intend to use the Moto X on a 3rd party MVNO pre-paid carrier (H2O Wireless who is owned by ATT).
This is a completely stock ATT Moto X 16GB that currently runs 4.4 where both the BL and sim are locked.
Once ATT releases the official 4.4.2 after the soak testing, how will I be able to update to 4.4.2 without ATT service? Will I have to wait for someone here to hopefully post the official ATT version and then try installing via WiFi?
Or would I download it from here to a PC and then copy it to the Moto X internal storage via fastboot USB and then install via recovery?
I have asked 3 different customer reps at H2O Wireless if their network accesses AT&T's OTA updates and they were clueless. Naturally, that would be the easiest approach but I don't want to depend on them for any future Android updates.
Thanks for your help.
No, you will not receive the update. Sure, you own a AT&T Moto X, but H20 is still separate from(even though owned by) AT&T and thus will have to release their own update.

So what if someone buys a Moto X from ATT who only wants to use it as a WiFi device? They just buy the phone for full retail price and not a wireless plan.
Are you saying such customers aren't entitled to AT&T Android updates specifically for their device via WiFi?
Well, yes you can actually receive the update via WiFi only. I forgot about that.

It doesn't matter what network you are on. The carriers don't push the updates. Moto does. It will be seen by Moto as an AT&T variant and will be push the update. However, you may want to be on WIFI since these updates can be rather data consuming.

sure you will get the OTA; I got mine (soak test), on unrooted, stock ATT Moto X, using on Dutch carrier. Don't worry about it.
Can I replace the screen of an AT&T Moto X with the screen from a US Cellular Moto X?
I bought a Moto X off craigslist with a crack in the glass. There's a US Cellular Moto X on sale for $75 on craigslist. Can I put that screen on my AT&T X? I assume I can but I'm wondering if there are any significant hardware changes that won't allow it to work.
There should be no reason why you can't. The only real difference between the Xs is the carrier mods. The hardware should be the same for every model.
Sent from my Moto X.
Alright well I'll be picking it up tomorrow! I'll let you know how it goes

Always was a nexus guy, then got the moto x (1st gen). Loved it.
Just upgraded to the N6. It's too big, and I miss moto display.
I'm currently on At&t (member of a family plan at a good rate), and not under contract.
Which Moto X variant would you recommend?
I'm confused about the Pure Edition. Does it include moto display, etc..? Or is it the same as the play store edition?
Yes get the Moto X Pure edition. You will really like it. The model number is XT1095 and will come with either a Net10 or a TMO Sim. It has all of the great moto software.
I am currently using it on AT&T.

Pure edition is just a new name for the unbranded variant. It still has the exact same software (minus any ATT apps) -- in other words, it's NOT a play store edition

There's been a few deals lately for the Moto X 2013 XT1060 and it's features are more tempting than the Moto G 2014 so I'm thinking of going for it. Problem is, the XT1060 is primarily a Verizon phone with GSM. From what I can see, it should work fine with AT&T and MVNO's using AT&T but I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone this route and/or may know of any problems there might be with this setup. Thanks in advance!
