hi all, i search any solution to unlock my bootloader on xperia t with the famous message "bootloader unlock allowed: no". i see on different forum , sometime it's an operator pb and sometime it's sony. what do you think about this? and there is some dev whose work on a solution?
currently there is no way to do it. On other devices a test point method has been used but with an unremoveable battery that method is not available.
I am sure someone will be working on it soon, but it is early days yet

Spanish customers have the option to freely unlock bootloader through official Sony TAS. We only have to send an email indicating that issue and a proper unlock code for our branded terminal and in less than a week a carrier pick up and return our phone without that restriction.
Maybe in France this service is available too, try it! We use a sheet like this (translated):
Hi,
I have a Sony Xperia T which does not have a contract with any operator, as well as the proper simunlock code.
Thereby I request the unlock of the bootloader to change "Rooting Status: Bootloader Unlock Allowed" to YES and thus enjoy the same privileges that an unbranded phone owner.
Below are the information about my phone:
Model: Sony Xperia T
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
SimUnlock Code: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Yep me too but never lose my hope... will retry later and i think to make a petition but we're all in different country so different service of sony. But if someone are interresting pm me and we will see if it's releasable
In the past Sony have only backed down when we have found our own ways of unlocking the bootloader.
The xperia range was never meant to be unlocked and the official unlocking was only released by sony after Blagus and the_laser found a way to unlock the device unnoficially. With the tightening of exploits and the unremovable battery my guess is that sony will not allow any more devices to be unlocked than they already do.
Many carriers (AT&T for example) actively do not want sony to unlock it. Furthermore, secutity has forced the removal of certain drm keys when unlocking so that certain functions of the phone no longer work.
A petition will do no good, IMHO, what we need is our own way to unlock irrespective of the whims of sony and/or carrier.
Untill then, be carefull which device you buy and which carrier you use.

it's a little expansive but go on SEtool forum , apparently some people unlock their bootloader but you can't make it when you want because you need s1server online.

Not a joke at all, members of spanish forum htcmania.com pressured Movistar to totally unlock their Xperia terminals once finished the contract, and finally they gotted (in fact they got for all spanish operators, mine is Vodafone tied). Thats the reason we need to provide a valid simunlock code when we request Sony for unlock our bootloaders.
Sony's response to my request (in spanish):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xkb1dyi0cawbja/SonyReply.png
Original threads (spanish too):

I don't know if Sony is applying same politic on other countries.
Yep i try the same method in but sony doesn't make any support for the bootloader in france. It's a good luck for you

Bored to have a locked bootloader, I'll brake my phone and buy a new one with my warranty if no solutions appears in future days (I'll say that it was stolen and they money back me with the bill in return of a new one unlocked from any operator)
Is it something like the Galaxy S2 AT&T vs International? Are ROMs cross compatible?
I'm considering picking up an Xperia TL and retiring my S2, but I've seen no ROMs for the TL on this forum and I don't really understand the differences between models.
AFAIK the TL has LTE, but the T doesn't
So, a T ROM with a TL modem flashed might work fine? There seems to be almost zero information about the TL on this forum.
this might help

Just gotta look for it. If you have any TL specific questions let me know, but search first as there has been info already posted covering things.
I found a post, the one talking about the TL having a locked bootloader. What a bummer. It looks like a fantastic phone for the price, but the lack of community for it is disheartening.

While trendy phones get picked up this holiday season its phones like the TL that stand out in the bunch, besides the 007 tie in it is quite evolutionary with its small apps and 13 mp camera. This phone has only been here state side for a few months and I'm sure if there are devs that cracked open the Verizon sgs3 bootloader there will be someone that will be able to.
I guess I'm in the same boat
So I would have to follow the same rule as the TL in this case?
I got the T but with LTE (LT30a); not the TL (LT30at)
Apparently Bell locked the bootloader too. I guess I will have to downgrade in order to unlock it?

You would have to get a factory unlocked device to unlock the bootloader. There is currently no way to unlock the bootloader of a LT30 that is locked.

The holes that were used to compromise the Verizon GS3 bootloader and the Verizon GN2 bootloader aren't valid for the TL.
All T variants (in fact almost all Sonys) ship with secure boot enabled. What unlocks the bootloader is the presence of extra data derived from the IMEI using an algorithm known only to Sony.
It's different from Samsungs where most devices ship without secure boot enabled (chain of trust is dropped early on in the boot sequence), and so most compromises on the Verizon variants involve taking a bootloader from an insecure device on a different carrier and placing it on a secure one. With the Sonys, there is no insecure device to pull a BL from.
In the case of GN2:
Secure bootloader replaced with insecure one from a similar device
In the case of GS3:
Samsung really didn't want to lock the device, and it was done at the last minute, so the locking was halfassed - recovery was not checked on execution, although the final break was that a source of unknown identity leaked a security-dropped bootloader.

Hi, I've looked around but not been able to find anything that really answers this question.
I'm tempted to buy an Xperia Z when they come out in the UK. Unfortunately it will be a branded phone (there is no way around this unless I want to pay alot more money).
My question is for 3UK customers with an Xperia T. Are you able to unlock your bootloader using Sony's official method? I have read that simlocked branded phones can be nearly impossible to unlock on certain networks.
Thanks for any help.

Not true.
I have a branded vodafone T and I can unlock. I would suggest you speak to 3UK and ask them, and if they cant answer your question take your business elsewhere.
I made sure I could unlock with vodafone before renewing my contract with them.

I have an Xperia T on 3UK, and it is very much locked. However, I have debranded it using the stock UK ftf and flashtool - and I am really quite enjoying using the Sony provided ROM.
Not sure if that helps, I suppose it depends how much you would like to muck about with your phone after receiving it!

Not sure with regard to your query about 3UK branded phones being bootloader locked however I understand that Carphone Warehouse phones are generally unlocked to any network and allow bootloader unlocking. If you were to get a phone from them on a 3UK contract then you should be ok - when I was looking for a T I popped in and queried this with them first and they suggested all of their phones are sold unlocked regardless of which network contract you choose. Phones 4 U have a similar approach but don`t offer deals on the 3 network.

Sim unlock and bootloader unlock have nothing to do with each other. You can have a sim locked phone and unlock the bootloader, and you can have a sim free phone and not be able to unlock the bootloader..and every combination in between as they are independant of each other

But fastboot locking is, or at least was in 2011 line, and unlocked by way of certificate replacement which unlocked everything, but sold as SIM unlocking causing confusion.
I think even with unlocking code from network, fastboot will remain locked.

If a carrier has made the bootloader unlockable then having the code from sony will not unlock it.
If the carier removes that restriction that allows the bootloader to be unlocked AND removes sim lock then tha is the carrier merging the two locks. They could just remove the bootloader restrictions AND keep sim lock if they want.
You can get an unlocked bootloader phone that is sim locked and vice versa. What carriers do with their locks is what they add to the phone after android and after Sony have done their thing.
They are still independant from each other unless the carrier has merged them, so my point stands, ask the carrier if you can unlock the bootloader. If the sales persone does not know what that means then go elsewhere. If they so not its not possibel because of sim lock they are lying as it is possible, its just maybe needs a bit of effort from them to be bothered. Then take your money elsewhere.
I have been into plenty of phone shops and they look confused when you ask them these questions, I just take my my business elsewhere and get what I want.

Except that with any Sony Android phone I am aware of, if the device is sold SIMlocked, it is not whitelisted in the bootloader unlock database.
While the two are technically independent, it is pretty much unheard of to see a Sony device that is sold with SIMlock but has an unlockable bootloader, and similarly, you never see devices with a non-unlockable bootloader but no SIM lock.

Hmmm it's not looking good then.
Unfortunately my device will have to be 3 branded (for reasons I'm not going to go into here).
I think I will probably contact 3 and see if they can shed any light on what to expect.
It's not the end of the world I guess, I can still put Apex on there and make it look how I want if I don't like stock. Nice to have the option though.
It would be stupid if SIMLock would be on and bootloader lock off cause u could easily remove SIMLock.
So in this case bought are related but in opposite direction - not. Cause I got SMS Code to remove SIMLock but that didnt made my bootloader unlockable.
To bad Orange is the only operator in my country which locks bootloader in Sony devices. (wish I'd knew that before signing contract)

I can confirm that the 3UK Xperia T is bootloader locked (no fastboot). I rang up Three and they said that it is not possible to allow bootloader unlocking on it (gave me a bull**** excuse about warranties and such, and I explained how I am aware than bootloader unlocking voids the warranty and that is the same for all phones).
However I do suspect that it depends on who you speak to as to what answer you'll get.

Hi, I'm from Mexico and bought a Z1 in Telcel plan (the original model was 6906) I have about 4 years using phone android, I wanted the HTC One but take long time to get here to Mexico, so desperate and buy me this Z1 and I'm really disappointed as I do not understand why some models like mine can not unlock the bootloader, because among other things I can not flash any custom room, or having a good kernel tweaks. (I really love Carbon room) All this regardless of the phone too easily scratched screen, and failures of touch sensitivity on the right edge, I guess be for the location of the buttons.
anyone of you know why?.
Sorry about my bad english.
Thank you.
Because your phone is on Contract and they locked the Sim and Bootloader for security. One day when the contract expire or your phone get old you will be able to unlock sim but no bootloader. It's a deal made between your Carrier Network and Sony. If you buy a Unbranded and Sim Unlocked Z1 you don't have this problems.

Why some Z1 models can not unlock the bootloader?
Thanks, there are many topics dealing with this but there is no a clear answer, I already flash one room unbranded but 6903 because as I said the original model was 6906 so I have unlocked the sim, I read out there on xda that taking it to sony service, as has unlocked the sim, they can change unlocking bootloader allowed: NO by Yes.
I'll try this way.
Greetings.
It's about specific negotiations between Sony with each Carrier
Telcel decided they wanted to keep the bootloader locked, thus C9606 will be permanently closed.
There are ways around this, but it WILL void warranty.

Here in mexico punish us with prices, sony officially sold the Z1, at $ 1000 usd (no brand) With a 2-year contract I could get $ 350 usd in telcel. Besides, very few models get really good, slow to arrive and bring an outdated firmware. Google does not sell their phones officially. I was under the impression you could get around the locked bootloader even if the device says No.

sim lock and bootloader locked are depends on your carrier, there are carriers that they have locked the sim only and still allows bootloader unlocked.
but some carriers locked both. you can get a phone which allows to unlocked bootloader, if you buy a free sim phone or bought not in the carrier contract but from other store like sony store or any store that sells free sim phone.
please dont make things complicated.

I just wondered if anyone had gotten any news from Sony as to if the bootloader on a not allowed model van be unlocked in anyway?
I'm aware that threads exist and ppl are flashing roms on handsets with locked bootloader but I think those are allowed to unlock theirs.
Is there still no way to unlock bootloader on disallowed models either officially or unofficial?
I want custom rom
Just to add a little clarity to this, gregbradley helped me a lot with this.
If you've bought the phone from a carrier then there is a distinct chance that the bootloader unlockable status will be a flat no.
What does this mean?
This means that you will never (unless someone cracks it, highly unlikely) be able to unlock your bootloader.
If you bought your phone from certain carriers (like 3 in the UK, or so i'm told) or from third parties like carphone warehouse in the UK, then you WILL be able to unlock the bootloader, as the status for unlocking the bootloader will read "Yes".
If you see a yes then youre in luck, if it reads no then you most certainly will not be able to unlock the bootloader.
Further to this, Sony will not help you with this whatsoever, I have asked and asked and got little more than a scripted response, they WILL NOT help you to unlock your bootloader.
The sim being locked to a particular network means nothing to the bootloader, it's simply a coincidence that third parties who have bootloader unlockable phones are too sim free.
Hope this clears things up for people who weren't sure.
AFAIK, it is at the carriers request that the bootloader is in this state, not Sony's, probably why they won't help with it, but that's a guess.
double post.

You can still have all the goodness of custom roms m8, you just won't be able to flash kernels like doom kernel and or AOSP rom's and CM10 based roms.
In all fairness, youre not missing out on too much, but I was the same when i had a locked phone, the grass always appears to be greener on the other side until you realise it's actually not.
Hi, I just bought a new Z3 Compact and have no experience with android whatsoever (used iPhone and Lumia before)
The deal is, using the service command, I can see that it has an unlocked bootloader. Does Sony ship some of their phones with bootloaders unlocked? I'm concerned that the reseller might have tampered with the phone before selling it to me and thus losing my DRM keys in the process.
Is there a surefire 100% way to check and make certain that the phone is still functioning properly and that the DRM keys are still present? I thought of making some low light pictures, but since I don't have any other to compare it with, it seemed rather pointless.
Thank you.

Sony or any other company will never sell their phones while their BL is unlocked.
In this case when you unlock your BL you lose some functionality so there is no way Sony would or would even be allowed to sell a product like that. Once the BL has been unlocked the keys are lost forever.
There are some people that are working on bringing back the/some functionality after you've unlocked the BL, but imo for the Z3C it's still in the beta stages.
Contact the person that sold you the phone, because he did all this on purpose, you can't unlock the BL by accident and then also "forget" to mention it when selling the device.
Thanks for the reply. "The person" actually was a reputable online reseller and they claim that nothing has been done to the phone.
Is there a way to test whether the DRM keys are still there?

You can run a security test:
*#*#7378423#*#*
Service tests
Security
This should show the various keys with a status for each...
Thanks. It shows OK everywhere so I assume it's fine.

That is unexpected. Are you sure your bootloader shows as unlocked and not just unlockable?
This sounds interesting, which line of the security test shows the status of the DRM keys?
As I've said earlier, I'm an utter noob in terms of Android. You might be right though as the line says Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes. Does that mean it's unlockable but still locked?

Right. That is just an indication whether or not you have the capability to actually unlock your bootloader.
I'm 99.9% sure that your bootloader is locked.
Your keys are still in tact and devices don't get released with unlocked bootloaders.
You should not have anything to worry about
