So.. I flashed gionee-v4s factory images (5.0.2) on my gionee m2 which is the 8gb version. both of them have the exact same specifications except for the screen size, and battery. i was thinking that it probably won't boot up either, but it did boot up. i got only a soft brick. i see a white display on all the time, which goes off after 30 seconds. i think this rom can be helpful to me for "porting" to m2 since the boot image is also mostly the same, the not same parts i am currently working on
(firmware i used: http://xdafirmware.com/gionee-v4s last one which is tagged Lollipop)
i know it is tough and i am sort of a beginner only, but what gives i'm gonna try un-soft-bricking it
i do know that after removing the whitescreen there may be other issues like gps, wifi, camera, etc etc. but hey, my first priority is just booting it up!
Another topic i would like to mention is if we can port TWRP 2.8.x to our phone so that we can custom flash lollipop ROMs (because i believe we can!) and since it is touch based, and way better than CTR which we are currently using (?) as it is harder to navigate around it.
can anyone here help me with the soft brick part? i know that you guys are awesome
speaking as of right now, my gionee m2 is again running kitkat stock. will be lookin forward to hearin from ya mates
try twrp of spice mi 509 by replacing kernel in it..!!!!

Hi Devs,
Can anyone answer the question, Is it possible to dual boot i9000 with different custom Roms?
it is possible and is under development, but has not been completed yet, as im sure you can understand how difficult it must be.
I don't think I would be game enough to try that..
Good question
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Very Possible (i think)
Galaxy S is a kind of mini compact compute,
using the bootloader, using two kernels side by side on the phone.
as logical question , this my logical answer.
i think by this year, smart developers will reach that point instead of focusing on thems ,app and wallpapers.
this is intresting
thanks

That bootloader thing isn't as easy as you might think
And you have to figure out how to partition the phone because two roms mean two /system and, as far as I know, the space is lean as it is now.
It should be possible but I don't want to be the guy who does it (although I would respect that man (or woman) a great deal)
Well multi boots require separate partitions plus a multi boot loader. Quite an ask for a phone. in theory possible, but sounds pretty difficult to me.
Sent from my GTI9000 using XDA App, gingerbread 2.2.3 jvk rooted, ADW launcher + gingerbread theme
whilst its not really dual boot you could use CWM to make backups and restore the different roms if you want to regularly switch? not what you are asking I know but a work around perhaps.
i would be happy for an app that runs a system of the sd card, kinda like how they used to run android on the HD2. Click the app and it would boot android restart and it boots back to winmo coz thats whats on the NAND .
This would good for people that want to test a ROM, mod it, theme it without flashing the orgional ROM. A Virtual machine if you will

hey guy i have think about what you said if dev can develope multi loader like computer that can we have both winphone 7 with android or maemo with bada or meego with ios! that sounds good and i think we can do that cause we have three diffrent storage in galaxy s. that have 2 gig rom that we have used it for android by now and we make it lagfix and change it from rfs to ext. another storage is internal nand that is 8 or 16 gig that we can use for further os like ios. and at last for blue tooth or else we can use external sd storage up to 32 gig i think galaxy s is more up than n900 or hd2 so we can nand and port real os on it!
BootManager - ROM multiboot
Hello, someone knows if this app works on galaxy s i9000?, I have a version of this device sold exclusively here in Brazil it is called I9000B, the only difference for the I9000, is that my tv is digital!
I wud love to hav dual boot - Android n WP7 (like HTC HD2), but having 2 android OS doesnt make any sense!
Actually does so, this way we can enjoy two different roms at the same time, can have the best of two worlds!
No updates? I thought we could just have an entry in the recovery mod which backs up the old kernel, flashes a new kernel, maybe modded to mount the /system and /data filesystems from sdcard images (system.img & data.img), replaces init.rc to avoid problematic mounts, and then boots the other rom. then, to reboot in the original rom, enter recovery and select the default one. I just want to know what are the problems we could find with this method. I can help, if someone is interested in doing this. I'm not a dev, but I can prepare images, edit init.rc, and if you give me the source I may be able to edit the recovery. I really want dual boot on my i9000, to test roms without wipes and backups, to have choice, to have a recovery rom in case something goes wrong with the default one and I'm not at home. For instance, it happened to me, that sometimes I couldn't listen to music when I was on the bus, due to roms' problems. I wish I could boot an emergency rom in cases like that.

There's ports for the Galaxy S2 and Nexus S so I would assume it's possible. There's things not working though such as Wi-Fi, vibrate and so on.
I don't know how much you would have to change doing a port of Flyme OS but in all fairness, unless you are extremely proficient with Android and Flyme, I wouldn't recommend it.
If you still want to go ahead though then check these links out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...vatives/port-flyme-os-1-0-5-27-10-12-t1958726
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-s/development/rom-flyme-os-1-0-5-10-20-2012-t1946065
Again, I don't know how much you would have to change (libs etc) in these ROMs to get them booting on the One and get some of the non-working components working again.

Thanks for your reply but this one is based on kitkat 4.4.4 and no one till now did try to port to htc one so i decided to port it and try it out on our htc one and those wifi vibrate etc can be fixed but first i need to get it booting
Closest port to the One I've found is the One V
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292536
I'm no dev so I don't know how much would need to be edited apart from updating the base from CM9 to CM11.
There's people better qualified than myself who could help though I just thought I'd try and give you a little push in the right direction

Hey there!
I own a Sony Xperia SP model C3506, updated to the latest stock version possible (4.3 Jelly Bean). Now, there are a few apps and a very specific one available only to users on 4.4+ (I think someone will probably know exactly which one I mean), and I would absolutely love to install a ROM to my phone to update it and be capable of running this application, but unfortunately for me, it's technically not considered my own phone, as my father claims he only "lent it to me" (for over a year now). He is no idiot, and is the kind of person to notice any little out-of-place characteristics like the battery meter being horizontal instead of vertical, or the colors are different or this or that, so I ask to you all; is there a way install a 4.4 ROM that is so perfectly the same as the stock 4.3 that even my father with a degree in computer science won't see the difference?
I was looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/rom-z3-experiencesp-t3039228 , but the big problem is that with that, going into the "About Phone" menu will show the version to be 4.4 and also show the mod version, which, while necessary for most, is not so good for me.
NOTE: If there's a way to edit things in the ROM I linked above to make it look like and claim to be 4.3, then please, tell me how! I'll do it myself if necessary.
Bump.
Just install a stock rom but tell him you added a launcher to it. If ever the phone needs some fixing backup using the recovery and flash the stock rom
Try multirom with stock 4.3 and cm13
And use the stock rom while you're near him

can a custom rom like this be loaded onto a samsung note 4 SM910F, if someone has to try and its not suitable will it just not load, bits of it not work, or brick the fone. I nhave twrp installed so as long as I can get back to twrp I can go back to another rom.
Senior member please help, my knowledge is low, and really trying to understand this.
.....Has anyone loaded ANY pie style rom onto note 4 sm910F which is as fast as the original android 6.01, and where everything important, CAMERA bluetooth etc all work. If so may I have a link please. THANKyOOOOOO
I doubt it will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 but you could do a search from the link below. Good luck

There are 2 types of ROMS for the 910F:
a. stock - original mage by Samsung
b. custom roms AOSP based
Type b can be also divided in 2 -
b1. custom ROMs AOSP based
b2. custom ROMs ported from stock from other Samsung devices - but that involves HUGE amount of knowledge, time and resources spent to get them to work.
I suggest you go and READ and get as much info as you can to be able to understand these terms.
It's not hard, depending on your time and will.
As for your questions of derfest - it is an AOSP based ROM, but if no developer has built it on the official site, it's pretty hard to ask for it for the 910F. I saw no Samsung there.
"can a custom rom like this be loaded onto a samsung note 4 SM910F" - yes, there is Lineage, RR, Havoc, AEX, etc - go check them in the dedicated section of the forum for your device.
"Has anyone loaded ANY pie style rom onto note 4 sm910F which is as fast as the original android 6.01"
There are pie style ROMs (as said above, go check them) faster than android 6. Android 6 was whatever you want, but not fast.
However, there's no pie ROMs ported from other Samsung devices to 910F.
Good luck.
note 4 sm910F custom roms fast stable .. and thankyou
Thank you for reply, appreciated. yes reading as much as possible.
I have rooted, loaded twrp, via odin,
and loaded threee of the four custom roms you mention, Lineage, RR, Havoc, and will look for AEX,
rr res remix is running now, however is slower than android 6.01, 55 seconds for cold start and generally a little laggy, and the camera intermiitntly freezes. Im reading everything I can, but dont understand if the camera problem is , ... a bug on rr, a bug on some camera apps including the one supplied with pico gapps,, an app ive loaded interfering with it or what. Ive seen comments about dirty load and clean load, and wipe with twrp default suggestions before loading rr,.
The reason for wanting a custom rom, is its nice to have both my fones with similar operating systems, the method of getting to app draw, unlocking fone swpe direction, accessing swype down shade are so different android 6 to pie,
and having apps like sonos being able to run
and possibly volte running tho no rom so far has done this.
If the disadvantages of a custom rom outweigh android 6 Ill look at going back to stock, Samsung wont supply the firmware but will do it at their shop!!
Android 6 had one feature better than pie I think, shade accessed by one sype down, and the initial screan names like wifi data in words beneath each item, thats so helpful no pie type rom so far has this
Again big thankyou for reply.

1. camera can't be as stock - original blobs (coding) of the app are Samsung proprietary, not open source, it's very difficult to have the same quality
2. coming from stock to custom ROM it's always recommended to format data (wipe is not enough) - that includes the internal storage, so save it before you do it
The reason for wanting a custom rom, is its nice to have both my fones with similar operating systems, the method of getting to app draw, unlocking fone swpe direction, accessing swype down shade are so different android 6 to pie, and having apps like sonos being able to run and possibly volte running tho no rom so far has done this.
these are your preferences, no comment here - however, volte is quite a specific thing, not all developers are bothered/care about it - so again, take it or leave it
If the disadvantages of a custom rom outweigh android 6 Ill look at going back to stock, Samsung wont supply the firmware but will do it at their shop!!
you can go back to stock if you would have made a back-up of stock with the fresh installed TWRP
or use Odin to flash with PC
Android 6 had one feature better than pie I think, shade accessed by one sype down, and the initial screan names like wifi data in words beneath each item, thats so helpful, no pie type rom so far has this

No problem glad I could help.
Have a nice day.
Hi guys, how are you?
I have a big issues with my motorola g2... dont know the cause, yet; dont know how to explain it i will do my best, when i use my moto g it got freeze, dont response at all so i have to reboot ir presing the power button but at the moment of the start it got stuck on the bootloader logo, and the only way to use it again is making a hard reset by the combination of the button volumme+down and recovery. I had to do this several times, dont know what could be the cause, scheduled obsolescence, applications demand too much from the processor. dont know. Im here if anyone can help me with that
Im using the stock rom 6.0 mashmellow, my moto G2 version is XT1063 global, just the bootloader unlocked
thanks!!
I think you need to install another rom, if you have an Moto G Titan i can recommend Viper OS Nougat or AOSP-CAF Nougat, if it doesn't solve your problem i think it's a problem of the phone
I recommend that because i got better performance on other roms than on stock, in case of Viper OS, i put some build.prop tweaks and did some things to increase performance and battery and it lasts much more, but i'm actually using Lineage OS 16, i did better build.prop tweaks and something else and it really has nice performance, sadly is not that good on battery backup but is normal because android version
