Motorola Freeze - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, how are you?
I have a big issues with my motorola g2... dont know the cause, yet; dont know how to explain it i will do my best, when i use my moto g it got freeze, dont response at all so i have to reboot ir presing the power button but at the moment of the start it got stuck on the bootloader logo, and the only way to use it again is making a hard reset by the combination of the button volumme+down and recovery. I had to do this several times, dont know what could be the cause, scheduled obsolescence, applications demand too much from the processor. dont know. Im here if anyone can help me with that
Im using the stock rom 6.0 mashmellow, my moto G2 version is XT1063 global, just the bootloader unlocked
thanks!!

I think you need to install another rom, if you have an Moto G Titan i can recommend Viper OS Nougat or AOSP-CAF Nougat, if it doesn't solve your problem i think it's a problem of the phone
I recommend that because i got better performance on other roms than on stock, in case of Viper OS, i put some build.prop tweaks and did some things to increase performance and battery and it lasts much more, but i'm actually using Lineage OS 16, i did better build.prop tweaks and something else and it really has nice performance, sadly is not that good on battery backup but is normal because android version

[Q] Flashed Gionee V4S 5.0.2 Stock on Gionee M2

So.. I flashed gionee-v4s factory images (5.0.2) on my gionee m2 which is the 8gb version. both of them have the exact same specifications except for the screen size, and battery. i was thinking that it probably won't boot up either, but it did boot up. i got only a soft brick. i see a white display on all the time, which goes off after 30 seconds. i think this rom can be helpful to me for "porting" to m2 since the boot image is also mostly the same, the not same parts i am currently working on
(firmware i used: http://xdafirmware.com/gionee-v4s last one which is tagged Lollipop)
i know it is tough and i am sort of a beginner only, but what gives i'm gonna try un-soft-bricking it
i do know that after removing the whitescreen there may be other issues like gps, wifi, camera, etc etc. but hey, my first priority is just booting it up!
Another topic i would like to mention is if we can port TWRP 2.8.x to our phone so that we can custom flash lollipop ROMs (because i believe we can!) and since it is touch based, and way better than CTR which we are currently using (?) as it is harder to navigate around it.
can anyone here help me with the soft brick part? i know that you guys are awesome
speaking as of right now, my gionee m2 is again running kitkat stock. will be lookin forward to hearin from ya mates
try twrp of spice mi 509 by replacing kernel in it..!!!!

That's going to be a hard question for anyone to answer even after trying them all. I've tried a couple of ASOP's and quite a few versions of Titan Prime rom. The ASOP''s had good battery life, but on one version I had random reboots or freezing. I prefer the Titan Prime roms since they're based on stock. The latest Titan was less than ideal and I think you'll find that 1.03 was the last good, stable version with good battery stats. Right now it's based on 5.02 but the dev has stated that he will be updating it to the latest 5.1 sometimes in the near future. If you read through the various threads, you'll see that some have great luck and some have terrible luck. I don't know if there's a common denominator with the problems, but results are all over the board. I think the folks that do a clean install by wiping System, Data, Dalvik/Cache seem to have the best results. You could probably poll 50 people and get 25 different recommendations.
Good Luck

Rooted my Z1s (c6916). Now what? (Performance help)

I've grown to loathe the lollipop update that T-Mobile put out for the z1s. The memory leak issue present has been rather crippling and frankly I'm over it. A while back I rooted thinking I would be on my way to a custom ROM to solve my issues but boy was I wrong. Locked bootloader piece of sheeeet. Anyways, I'd like to stick with my z1s a little longer and wait out all the upcoming flaghips to see what's next. Is there anything I can do now that I have root to improve performance and/of fix the memory leak issue?
What about going back to 4.4? Is that possible now that the baseband updated with the lollipop update and if so how? Assuming working with the current lollipop build on the phone will get me nowere.
Thanks in advance everybody.
Thinking of even flashing back to 4.3 considering I forgot about 4.4s SD card functionality limits...
Unless I can somehow get a factory 5.1.1 image to from lime a different z1 to fully flash into the z1S......
I5.0.2? But why? Flash stock 5.1.1 root it debloat it greenify should help also. If u want stock based rom i recomend flashing MX Rom v8 but imo v 7.8 was better in terms of battery life. Its already slimed down but I debloated it even more running debloatin
g script witch can be found here on XDA. Hopefully this will help you. Good luck
EDIT: I was thinking you have issues with Z1 not Z1s sorry i can't help you with that one

Debloat XT1060 DE

Hi everyone
I had a Verizon XT1060 DE that was rooted and unlocked on KitKat. The flashlight/camera flash came loose and it had to be RMA'd over a year ago. Not long after, I got a sweet deal on a LG G4 and the new Moto X (still bootloader locked) sat in a drawer. The LG G4 softbricked during a Verizon OTA update last week and they've sent me a new one (now in the same drawer), and in the meantime I picked up the 2013 Moto X.
This morning I unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp 2.8.6.0-ghost, and rooted with SuperSU. I'm excited to have the Moto X back as my main phone (I missed it, for sure) and I'd love to debloat all the verizon crap.
Can anyone recommend to me a good method for debloating? I'm sure I did it on my old Kitkat Moto X, but it's been years and I can't remember and surely there's some good updated info.
If this has been discussed previously, please just post a link if need be.
Thanks again everyone. Glad to be back using XDA again
Also, if anyone wants to chime in with a recommended ROM that will accomplish the same for me. I've never installed a custom ROM but I wouldn't mind trying.
I like AOSP, but I'd try a CM rom or anything really. My requirement is a debloat ROM that everything works. I need this phone for everyday use, so I need to make calls, take photos, use the flashlight, etc. If there's bugs that have a known fix, that works for me, but I can't run a ROM with decreased functionality.
Please post a link if you have a suggestion.
Thanks again everyone.
I've been using Resurrection Remix for a few weeks now and it works great as my daily driver (I have a XT1060 DE as well). The ROM is fast and everything works, as far as I can tell. Look at the Moto X XDA homepage for the page and details, or try this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/rom-ghost-resurrection-remix-5-6-8-t3371948
Good luck!

I've only tested Resurrection Remix becuase its the rom with lot of feature from other rom too and its stable for everyday use and I write from my Moto X (XT1052).
For everyday use I suggest to avoid (as now) all 7.x roms because usually have broken microphone and/or camera (only video or photo too) with can be important for many people, so i advice you to stay with 6.0.1 roms right now

Which Custom ROM to install ?

Hi all,
I need your help to suggest me a good custom ROM and how to install that on my Moto x 2014. I am really sick and tired of my 2 year old phone as it is now very slow, battery backup has become poor.
I will be really thankful to you people.
You can do as we all here.. read the threads.. coments and try different roms.. the one that better suit your needs, the one you choose.
To not leave you unanswered, personal recommendation, nexus rom or mokee.
I'd say Dirty Unicorns for Nougat, or maybe the new Oreo ROMs that have popped up lately I'm running Lineage 15 and it's awesome.
It sounds like your bootloader is still locked though, am I right?

That's right. Currently I am using 6.0 marshmallow stock version. Neither I know how to unlock bootloader.
Basically, it's been 2 years and i was scared tweaking the OS, but now I am fed up with my phone's performance though it has 801 Snapdragon and 2gb of RAM.
I need to know from- how to unlock bootloader to how to install custom ROM.
To unlock the bootloader just Google "unlock bootloader XT 1095". There are tons of tutorials.
Then you need to install a custom recovery, I'd suggest TWRP. Again, Google is your friend for the how-to's.
Finally, you have to download a ROM and corresponding Google Apps (aka GAPPS package) and install them using the custom recovery.
In terms of which ROM, I'm currently using the unofficial Lineage OS 15 from Andersonmendes and it's a beast. Super smooth and great battery life. Be sure to flash the version from October 10th.
Cheers and good luck in your modding journey!

Thank you so much Fabiozon
I would recommend you the AospExtended 4.6 rom, been using it since it came and had no problems so far.
I recomanded the final rr 5.8.5 nougat.
Stable excelent battery and full extras.
If you are not about customizing your OS a lot, you might consider Lineage 14.1. it receives updates and security patches on a weekly basis.
EDIT. By the way NX Rom is quite good too. Nearly nexus device experience. You can have a dark theme for all UI, so you won't need a Substratum theme just for that.
I'm on AOSP Extended just because it has "advanced ambient display", where you can add double-tap to interact with it (not double tap to wake).
On other roms I keep waking the phone accidentaly when ambient display activates and I touch the screen (in example: when walking with the phone in my hand)

You're not taking about AOSP extended 4.6, are you? Because that one doesn't have these nice settings.
EDIT. Sorry, a quick research solved it. First, we need to disable "double-tap to sleep" in Ambient Display settings.
