I'm having the same problem. Android System, Android Kernel and Google Play Services use up about 25% of my battery together.

It´s not so hard to search:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/google-play-services-battery-drain-t3083672

The Turbo is still on Kitkat, not on Lollipop. And disabling sync is not a solution, it's merely a workaround (and it doesn't even work for everyone).
Specifically in my case, Play Services only take about 4-5%. System and Kernel take about 20% together.

I am having the same issues as well. Seems to have just started in the past week or 2... Wondering if its a server side issue, or an issue related to the new Google Photos? Specifically today, my battery is draining twice as fast as normal. Already tried deleting the cache partition. Considering doing a factory reset and starting from scratch....

Android version doesn't matter because the problem is related to the Play Services which are the same for all, and yes, it's not a solution but a workaround for the excessive drain, because currently there is no solution and I doubt it will have one; it seems that this will be the behaviour of the Play Services from now onwards.

The problem are the new Play Services, they are draining a lot the battery and they are working all the time while we are on mobile data. Something is really messed there, because this happens only while on mobile data, and on WiFi they behave pretty decent. Currently, I have around 3% battery drain with the mobile background data disabled, but if I enable the data, the drain is around 20% and let me tell you that most of the time I spent it on places with WiFi (Home and Job).

Download wakelock terminator from play store. Add "Google play services" to the filtered apps, and paste this into the filter wakelock box.
NlpCollectorWakeLock
NlpWakeLock
CheckinService
NetworkLocationLocator
After doing this, I noticed hardly any battery drain and no functionality changes.

I don't see that app in the Play Store.
Does it require root?

I believe it does. Strange... But I just did a search and I don't see it in the store either. Perhaps you'd have some luck finding the apk on Google as they may have removed it.

This has been getting worse and worse for me over the last few days, even after wiping the cache from recovery. Today I've had my phone off the charger for 11 hours (on wifi the whole time, with a solid LTE signal), only 1:30 SOT, and the battery is under 10%. Google Play services has 4:19 CPU total and 3:19 keep awake., and is top on the battery stats with 38% (versus 16% screen).
I never thought I'd see Google be worse than Facebook at battery optimization. This is crazy.

Did you by chance do the wiping data of play services etc recently trying to check for lollipop updates? That causes sync issues (if you even did that). It's just odd that your battery life is so much worse than most people. I have my screen at 100% brightness all day, screen on time at 2h 47m and I'm at 68% battery left. My play services and Android system are both down at 3% each. And I've even been in and out of service all day. TBH I'd actually wipe your whole phone and start over at this point as you clearly have some abnormal behavior occurring.

Nope, just the cache (and only after the battery issues started). I have a lot of accounts syncing, but haven't changed my usage patterns at all recently, and until the last week or so I was easily getting 4+ hours of SOT in a 16-hour day with plenty left over.
I'm planning to wipe when 5.1 arrives, so hopefully we'll get lucky (relatively speaking...) and get it this week. Hopefully.

since you're on wifi most of the time, try disabling mobile data and restrict background data.

I uninstalled Google+ over the weekend and coincidentally or not my battery drain rate today seems much lower then what I've been seeing the last few weeks. Could be placebo effect and faulty memory too but with normal use and 5 hours in I'm only down 20% which is consistent with the 4% per hour that I remember when I first got my Turbo.

Google+ likes to reside in the memory. Even if you kill it, it will come back. I stopped using it because of that.

I had this problem too. HOT phone, 4 or 5 hours of battery life with Google Play services at the top of battery usage, 3-4 hours of awake time. It started on Friday or Saturday for me. Not sure if it is related, but it is after I installed the new Google Photos. Uninstalling that and turning off Google photo sync didn't fix it.
I ended up factory wiping to "fix" it. Same apps loaded, including Google photos, same version of google play services, no more drain or hot phone.
Issues like this absolutely drive me crazy.

I'm another victim of this bug.
I'm 2.5 hours off the charger. Google Play Services has used 1 hour, 42 minutes of CPU time, and is responsible for 53% of the battery drain (100%->68%). This started late last week. I didn't install anything new then, but I had previously installed the new Photos app, which some people believe is related to this problem. Disabling and uninstalling that app didn't help.
This is pretty infuriating. Restoring app data on unrooted Android devices is a pain. Helium is great, but doesn't reliably bring back game state data for many titles. I wouldn't mind doing a factory reset as much if I could actually recover all my data.
Edit: I'm really hoping to avoid a FDR. Looking at the Process Stats under Developer Options, I see location-related services under Google Play Services have very high usage rates. They're all at 100%. It's not unusual for a couple services under Google Play Services to show up at ~100%, but I've never seen so many services show up like that unless I'm having issues. I'll post a screenshot once I get network access on my phone.

No trouble with Play services at all. Consistently low drain, even with Google+ running all the time. Doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or lte.

Do you have the new Google Photos update installed?

Newest Photos, and as of now, the newest Play services installed.
Hasn't been an issue...

[Q] Weird "battery drain" when lightly using the phone

Hello !
I just bought my P880 two days ago and everything is great except one thing: battery drain. It is not occouring in background when phone is in Deep sleep, it doesn't lose charge while it's sleeping, but when I just unlock it/start using it, it just starts draining.
I have rooted it, and unrooted using SuperSU. The thing is I haven't experienced that kind of drain yesterday, it was working fine except drain caused by bad signal (badly inserted SIM).
Usage by Android System is at 50% over 5 hours, Screen is at 9%. Awake graphs are the same as Screen on graphs- no wakelocks.
I have these apps installed:
Prey Anti Theft
Skype (not running)
Adobe Reader
SoundHound
Disco Light
QR Droid
Sygic (not running)
X-plore
SwiftKey 3 keyboard
WiFi, GPS, Data, everything turned off except mobile signal
Running Internation version with Android 4.0.3, Kernel 2.6.39.4-00001-g0f9182c
Mobile network type is EDGE:2 with mobile signal -70dBm
I'm first time android user and this is my first problem so I tried to include as much info as possible.
Thanks in advance
I see 2 mayor issues, first is the android deft app, it may be running and trying to sync but bcz the data is off it will try to connect foreva.
Also, edge is (in other words) ROAMING and this forces the antenna to use more power to get signal from another provider, it get worst if you have a phone with sim card.

Thanks for pointing that out, but I have disabled every sync and I have set phone to 2G mode only, the reason is that UMTS signal was low and was draining battery even more.
I am only losing sharge when just doing random things on phone, even if that means only adding/removing widgets/apps on main screen with WiFi off.
Then you must try the Deodexed version of v10f, removing the bloatware with the script in the same thread.
The issue may be some lg apps that are running in the background so doing this will have 6 hours in standby time with 100% still, like me (if I turn all radios off ).
I have just woken up, while sleeping (9h) phone was awake for about 50%, no wakelocks but there were 30 alarms from Android/Google maps ans 29 alarms from com.google.android.gsf
Hope this helps.
I may try custom ROMs if nothing else works.
While typing this message I have lost 7%.
Similar state here as the OP. Got the phone two days ago.
All is good, it rooted OK, Directory Bind works fine, phone runs like hell (about 10 times faster than my old Galaxy S) BUT it drains battery like a genuine power guzzler.
Ok I get that according to the performance you get, it comes with an accordingly high power draw, so I don't ***** about it, I just want to know if this is normal. I mean I played 2 hours and 15 minutes of Sprinkle and the battery died, starting from a full charge. Screen was set at 50%.
GPS is off, Bluetooth is off, no 3G mobile network and screen is at 50% brightness as I said. There's an NFC icon on the notification bar next to the battery icon, which I am not sure if it should be there.
Here are a couple of shots from the battery section of the phone and from Battery monitor widget if these help.

Please note that as the OP said, the phone consumes nearly nothing when idling. Firmware is 10f.
PS I am not trying to hijack the OP's thread. I just noticed the same behavior and I'd like some help on the same matter, as well as to contribute in whatever way I can. If the OP is offended somehow, I will gladly start a new thread.
@psolord No, not offended at all. I'm glad you posted actually.
My phone has encountered 20 more Alarms, wake ups since I left it standing:
com.google.android.apps.maps Wakeups: 50
com.google.android.gsf Wakeups: 45
You can see pictures below, the drop on the second picture happened when I was writing me previous post from P880.
- I am also rooted again (after factory restore)
- I have reenabled 3G networks but the signal is only at about 50%.
Any additional info please ?
Ok buddy, so we can keep discussing it here together.
For the matter at hand, I see the same behavior, when I unlock the screen, it's like I have opened a whole in the battery.
It dropped from 85% to 65% just from downloading a new map (500MB, 20min download on a slow wifi) from Sygic downloader. I mean this can't be right, right?
I also checked cpu spy and it reports the system 75% at deep idle, 15% at 51Mhz and the rest are 0% to 1% up to 1500Mhz. So if the cpu has so little operation, what on earth is draining the battery?
I wonder if we could be looking at a bad battery batch.
Is there an app that reports exactly what activity consumes power and how much?
Indeed, the hole in the battery.
I even restored to factory from recovery mode since I screwed up the root, so it was just stock, but guess what, nothing has changed :crying:
I really hope this can get fixed, else I'll get a replacement.
I hope someone from this forum with more experience can help :/
I think I am onto something.
Can you please check how is the phone doing if you disable everything under location and services?

I am going to try this, I am also talking to LG Support right now. WIll let you know when I get more information.
I disabled everything, and I didn't see pretty much any improvement. LG Support suggested me to return the phone.
Pretty much draining the battery atm so I can charge it back to 100% and use something like Battery Calibration. Maybe it can change something.
Yeah indeed I was onto nothing. Nothing changed for me either.
Playing 30mins of a 720P resulted my battery dropping from 62% to 50%. I also used the gps for the first time with Sygic (Jesus even the GPS is lightning fast) and the battery went from 50% to 30% for a 20 minute ride. It seems that my phone cannot give me more than 2 hours of use. That's just silly.
BTW do you or anybody, know of an app that can show battery usage per app?

Stock application ?
Also you can use Better Battery Stats to see if there are any wakelocks or anything is waking up the phone etc.
What is happening right now is rather strange, I disabled screen turning off (trying to drain battery to 1%/2%) looking at stock battery app, it seems to be stuck at 21% and it's not changing.
The stock application does not do so much analysis, but the batterystats you used above seems more like it.
I am getting panicked and I miss some stuff haha. Ok lets cool.
It makes me sad that we don't get any input from the community. Something like "yeah this is normal, live with it" or "your phone is faulty, take it back to the shop for a replacement" or something.
Agreed, ANY, ANY kind of input would be appreciated, but I guess we are getting none.
I am going to fully charge it today, do some stuff and report back tommorow. Also anyone, please do post any suggestion you may have.

Maybe this has to do something with the built in power saver. Maybe it kicks in when the battery drops to the 20s and stops whatever is draining it.
I am thinking trying some battery saver to see if it does the same thing but from the beginning of the full charge.

Actually I have disabled it when it asked me if it should turn on. So I guess nothing to do with that.
I am going to backup now, fully unroot and somehow get it to pure stock. Than I'm probably going to exchange the phone in case battery life doesn't change.

Let's discuss this battery problem

This is not another, I love this phone BUT the battery is too small.
Currently there is a massive bug affecting the T-Mobile (possibly others) Galaxy S6 (unconfirmed on edge)
Symptoms
Massive Battery Drain while Idle
Cellular Standby top Usage in Battery Stats
Random WiFi issues
Self Diagnosis
Go into Battery
Tap Cellular Standby and remember the "Total Connection Time"
Go back to "Battery" and hit refresh
Check Connection Time again
If the time increases but you are NOT using any applications, on the phone or downloading you are affected by this bug.
Fixes
Turn WiFi calling OFF
Disable VoLTE (VoLTE toggle is in the Phone App/More/VoLTE.)
Update - Turning off WiFi Calling along with disabling VOLTE appears to have patched this issue for now. You can still use WiFi like normal and turn that off and on and it shouldn't have any issues.
So lets discuss this, I have not been able to fix it. WiFi on or off, WiFi calling enabled or disabled nothing seems to correct the problem. Its as if the phone is ALWAYS on a call.
Edit- VoLTE seems to have corrected the issue somewhat. What I did is turned off VoLTE, Turned off WiFi calling and then turned WiFi off and back on. My Connection Time hasnt moved since. How long this patch lasts for, I don't know.
Mods - Please monitor this thread if you could for battery naysayers and complainers. We are out to diagnose and fix the problem, not complain about it.

Thanks for starting this thread. I have tried pretty much everything, including uninstalling/disabling most apps, turning off "keep awake" for what's left, etc. I just tried turning of VoLTE and I still lost about 2% in 15 minutes with my phone just sitting on the desk (no use). My next course of action is to try a wipe. I really don't want to take this phone back. I still think this is some sort of bug with 5.01. My Nexus 6 had battery life issues until 5.1 and now it's awesome.
Okay the VoLTE trick fixed my high cell standby drain.

I've used quite a few lollipop builds and I've noticed on just about all of them (including the s6) Google play services runs pretty high. Haven't had the phone long enough to accurately test, but I'd suggest for those seeing it run pretty high to completely disable auto update of apps. That should help limit its ability to wake up the phone.

I actually disabled wake for that app using App Ops. Nothing in Gsam or regular battery stars is telling me anything.
I just performed a wipe. If that doesn't do it, I give up.
Ok guys let me throw in my 2 cents.

that was yesterday usage. I had wifi on the whole time yesterday.
Now today usage wifi off since 100%, i have no ****ing idea why facebook is using that much, ive use it 10 mins at most.
Facebook is like a hydra when it comes to app permissions. It has the most permissions to your phone with few apps to rival it. Use an app that blocks particular functions you dont use in the facebook app (GPS, contacts, etc) and just install this (must be rooted) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findsdk.apppermission&hl=en
I realize it hasn't been a full days of use yet, but the Cell standby sums up the battery issue drain. I'd prefer to keep VoLTE on, and we should be able to without this being a problem. It was on, on my G3 and I didn't have such significant Cell standby battery drain. Any idea of another cause?
So, I finally caved in and wiped, even though I have had the device since Monday and battery has been bad all along. Prior to wiping, I was losing around 2%/15 minutes (8-10%/hr) without even using it. After wiping, seem to be losing around 4%/hr. I am not using it at all, just testing the idle drain. It's definitely better.
My question to the fine folks here: Does 4%/hr with no use seem reasonable? I only installed minimal apps and none of them are doing any kind of autosync or update. I have one exchange account set up through Nine and then my gmail account.

For me, even without ever turning on my phone, it's syncing with breaking news apps, facebook, twitter, hangouts, gmail push, work email push, a couple online RPG games pushing me alerts and so on. My battery drain ironically isn't stemming from apps syncing and emails/alerts being pushed constantly throughout the day. It's the cell standby for me.
contributing factor?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/flash-lit-t3069039
Seems to be the cell standby for me too. Disabling WiFi calling and VoLTE has fixed it for now.
Is there a Samsung support channel where we could get this recognized? It seems really asinine that people are exchanging the handset for what is clearly a software defect.
sassafras
VoLTE seems to be my problem for now. Disabled it. And fully charged it to 100% and its now at 75% and cell standby isn't even on the battery stats list.

So, I can't believe I'm saying this, but a factory reset totally resolved my battery issue. It was only 4 days old. I couldn't see how it could have possibly been fixed by that, but it was a last resort before returning it.
Now I have some pretty normal Battery life. I love this phone!

If you hadn't been a douche in your follow-up reply, I certainty would consider it.
Having this issue as well..after having a nice battery cycle of almost 5 hours sot I'm seeing the same thing in bbs, losing 6% an hour idle. Will try the fixes to see if it helps thanks guys
so im getting the edge on the 15th
should i factory reset it right when i get it ?
The only thing I did out off the box was take the OTA and root. Maybe the OTA set it off? I pretty much have the same apps installed now.

Battery drain from Android system

The last 3 days out of no where my n9 has gone from average 6hr sot to barely 3hr sot and literally nothing has changed on my phone. I haven't gotten any system updates and the app updates i got shouldn't have anything to do with Android system. But out of no where it started chewing up my battery. Ive seen it get up to 30% battery use at one point. Ive tried literally EVERYTHING every little trick to fix this including a last resort factory reset (and fresh install) which I did today. And unfortunately Android system is STILL chewing battery @11% useage so far since i factory reset and fully charged my phone today. I'm at a loss. Anyone else experiencing this and know how I might be able to fix this? I have a pre ordered 128gb tmobile and it has sept patch but no camera patch.
P.s. when i take my spen out it smells like an overcharged fuse or something idk how to explain it but it has a smell

Not sure, but the tip of my S-Pen smells similar ,but no battery issues so far.

I had the exact same issue with my V20 a few months ago. Turns out it was 2 apps that had updates and just jacked up my battery life. Both of them were audio apps. Particularly equalizer apps.
I still have my s8+ with all the same apps and it doesn't have the battery drain so i dont get it

Have you ran it in safe mode or airplane mode to see how much drain you have overnight?

When u say it reduced to 3 hr SOT, can u see what are the top apps on battery consumption list. Is it android system or play store services or some other app. Reduced sot battery would have counted against another app right
Ignore the sot in this screenshot as i bump charged it a few times today but this is whats taking up my battery.

No battery issues but Verizon 128gb the spen tip does have a very slight burnt electronics smell. Very very faint but definitely burnt electronics.
Just a quick note i still have my s8+ with all the sane apps and its not having this battery issue so i don't understand whats wrong

Is 'Settings -- Backup Reset -- Backup Google Data' is ON or OFF? If not keep it off.
Other thing is face book, I disabled factory provided facebook/service using package disabler and use facebook lite from beginning. Not sure why samsung kept facebook in factory software.

I just did those things, we'll see what happens. I used to use fb lite but it got too annoying so i rather use the regular version. Thanks for the tips
I think i might of fixed it i did all those tips including fb lite, and i also switched to nova home screen. It must of been the Samsung experience app imo that was the culprit cause now Android system is at 1%. We'll see what happens as the battery gets low but for now it seems to have been solved I hope...

Cloud back up efficiency is still not achieved to call it great and is a tricky one and haunted battery drain/heat up issues in iphones in the beginning and later in many android devices. Non optimised cloud back up runs all the time in background to figure out what is modified content to backup from what is alredy backed up.
I would always recommend to manually backup stuff once in a while. Atleast for me, auto backup all the time is waste of resources in mobile.
In samsung many other battery saving settings available, one is always sleeping apps in battery to ensure apps put to sleep in background and other one is notifications permission (we can stop notifications from all apps and enable only few what we require rather than on for all apps) I use.
Thank you everyone for all the tips and tricks. I am happy go announce that the battery drain is gone. The culprit was indeed the Samsung home screen. Replacing with nova fixed it completely. And not only that but paired with some of your battery saving advice helped me achieve an even better battery than i get on average which was 6 hrs sot.

Sorry if i sound like a noob, but is there a way to disable automatic backup to google drive (because thats what you meant right? ) without it deleating the existing backup? because when I go to settings-accounts-backup and restore-google account and try to disable the backup in google drive it tells me that its going to delete the existing copy

Actually you can back up data to samsung cloud rather than google. Samsung backup you can do manually.
Yes it might remove current device back up from google today. I heard Google provided option to manual back up without deleting backups in pie.
Go To apps setting and force close bixby voice wake up.

Samsung pay is culprit, I'm also facing same issue till yesterday after force stop SAMSUNG PAY, now i got my old battery life, for 10hr standby takes 6 percentage of charge but before 30 percentage.
I am having the same problem. What I don't understand is why making the changes talked about here are even required. Those settings weren't done prior to this week and the battery was great.

P30 pro bad battery life

Hi guys! I have p30 pro with 153 software. I see that many people are getting SOT around 10 hours. I'm light user, i have disabled everything that i don't need to save battery, togled dark mode, apps to manual launch too, I have good reception but I am getting about 6 hours,
6.5 hours of SOT and as I see everybody is getting better SOT with similar usage like me. Look at the screenshots.

Any rogue apps? Apps which keeps the phone awake?
Usually with 6.5 hrs of sot, you should have at least 20% left.
puzzled because other people getting great battery life.
After a little while (1 week) , I did a factory reset and did not import any setting through Hi Suite. I start fresh. I did not update any apps at all, just the system update. Then my battery life is great as it suppose to be.
It last for 5 days with great battery life. Then, suddenly the problem reappear again. Not sure what caused it. For me, I realised the "Phone Services" usage was at 34% ( normal usage is adound 0.8%) - >look at setting>battery>usage. I really hope somebody can provide ideas on how to solve this permanently.
Atleast I have confirmed it is not hardware problem. Most probably is software related issue.
Wjat kind of app caused this kind of battery drain.

I may have a solution to drastically improve battery life but it's a bit tedious and time consuming.
Go to Settings - Apps-Apps again and open each app installed on your phone and for each app go to Data usage and uncheck Background data.
Warningo this only for the apps you know you won't need them to be running in the background!
Thank me later. Good luck!

I had the same problem.. Had battery drain 10% per hour with/without using the phone..
I have cleared the cache and turned almost all apps in apps launch in manual mode.. Since then I have around 7-9h on screen time, it varies but I am not sure why.. However, a few days ago I chose only 3g in network mode in settings and got 11h on screen time after that (youtube 4,5h, fb 2,5h, instagram 2,5h and some other apps)-basically all SOT was on apps, so those 11h makes an amazing result... It is yet to be tested whether that 3g settings made the difference, maybe it is just a coincidence..

If you have better signal with 3g it would explain the better battery, poor signal is the worst for battery.

I guess that is the catch, my 4g coverage is not so good.. I am getting 12-13h on screen time regular now, using apps like youtube for around 4-5h, facebook 3h and instagram for 2h.. The rest are phone calls, camera and other apps... The battery life is amazing..
I think I figured out why my p30 pro had a poor battery life before. The battery are draining abnormally even without using it.
Previously, I was using dual sim card.
1st sim was a 4G sim that can (call sms and internet)
2nd sim was also 4G sim but solely for internet purposes (cant call or sms- it has been set that way by the telco).
What i noticed was whenever this 2nd sim card was inserted, the "Phone Services" usage will spike and it was used by Sim Toolkit apps requesting Location all the time which sucked out the juice.
I didn't suspect the 2nd sim card at first because I did use it on my Huawei Mate 20 and the battery was superb.
I did not know why the second simcard behave this way when inserted in my p30 pro...
So now, as a solution, I only use my main simcard. Battery was again great. Got around 7hrs SOT with 25% battery left.
This is good enough for me. Also today I was recording 4K videos. Perhaps that affect my SOT.

Thanks
I wouldn't swap my phone for anything else even after the ban.

Terrible SoT..
Hi guys,
I have serious battery problem with my p30 pro. While others are getting 8-9 hours of SoT. I am getting max 4.30 hours. I don't play games there is not a one in my phone. Usually using just for whatsapp and surfing. I don't have Facebook either.
Always on mobile data and, 2-3 hours hotspot on in a day.
Could you please tell me your opinion what is wrong with this device. I added some screensshots from batterystata app
You know Hotspot really drains the battery right? Can you not use that for a day to compare battery stats?

This is the current SoT of my 2nd day of continuous usage without charging the battery (down from 100%).
I have always the GPS signal turned ON, as well always a net connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data, but not both at the same time). I've also kept every single app open (w/ minimize swipe-up ?? gesture).
I also have my Huawei Watch GT-614 continously connected by Bluetooth to my Huawei P30 Pro, using Huawei's own Health app always running in the background, continuously measuring my heartbeat and counting my footsteps as well.
PS: this time, half battery gave me more SoT because I didn't turned ON the Performance Mode at any time

Question Battery life on my Redmi Note 10 Pro became unexplainably crappy

My phone was purchased a little over a year ago. At first it probably needed a full recharge maybe once per two days, so I doubt it went through more than 200 charge cycles.
The screen on time when new regularly surpassed 12 hours with browsing and some YouTube. I suppose it became a bit worse as time went by, but the current SOT is terrible and also unpredictable. Again, it's mostly browsing on Chrome and YouTube, and it can be between 7 hours SOT to 10 maybe. The MIUI was updated to 13.0.15 I think a couple of months ago, and perhaps it became this bad after the update.
Does anyone else have this? The battery usage breakdown also doesn't make much sense. Chrome is often at the top but it counts as if only a small fraction of its usage was CPU foreground. Android System is often third-fourth, and the Cell Standby can be about 5%, but the drainage when not using the phone is sometimes a few percents every hour.
I revoked almost all of the system apps and also removed "Modify System Settings" for all of them as suggested somewhere, but that doesn't help.
Any solution?

I have MF_00, 01, 03 and 04 but not those suggested values.
Also, it seems this phone uses a lithium-polymer battery and according to online resources that material is rated for about 300 recharge cycles. Does to mean it's actually expected to degrade significantly after just over a year? I will note there's a battery health status (MB_06) simply saying Good.
Had the same problem, but I bought mine two months ago with global MI 13. Didn't use phone much but Chrome was always on top of the list with minimum to no usage at all. When I disabled Chrome with mi tools, battery was good again. Try debloating with mi tools if you don't have root, should do the trick.

The question is whether it's actually because of Chrome or that there's something inaccurate with the battery readings? I prefer not to disable Chrome.

To know that. Disable Chrome temporary and use another browser that time.
There could be a good chance that background use of Chrome is because of installed bloatware.

Are there any examples of removing Xiaomi bloatware actually improving battery life?
I know you can't remove Security as it bricks the software and this seems like it might be the one thing that actually uses background battery, but the app is revoked on my phone anyway if that actually does anything.

I know there is a list of removeable Miui bloatware, but because I choose for a custom rom, I don't know of explicit examples.
In the past, with another Xiaomi phone I have done this and I know that this minimized the ads then, but can't remember the BB improvement.
I depends what the bloatware apps tries to do and how.
If they use network connections or cause wakelocks that prevent deep sleep etc. removing them should improve battery life.

You better read the threat about debloating
Without root you can only remove this app for a user.
So in theory the app is gone for you, but it will be still there and is easy to install again.
You need adb for this and can remove/install apps the easy way with a script or manually for every app.
Personally I think you must be conservative with removing system apps to prevent malfunction.

On what kind of usage? Because as I said, for light usage I got around 12 hours SOT at first.
EDIT: Ah, you referred to 85% to 20%, that could be around 12 hours for the entire battery.
Something similar happened to me this night. Bought the phone a couple of months ago, currently on miui 13 eea, rooted, sleepy kernel with limited cpu freq. With light usage the minimum SoT i got was 12 hours. However this night battery went from 15 % to 3% and the phone was totally inactive. This is the first time i see this issue. Dont know the cause.

It seems the issue might be a bit better now, as so far the phone has been off the charger for about 5 hours and I have around 92% charge left over 50+ minutes of SOT.
I did "uninstall" through ADB a bunch of built in apps and software as suggested in some bloatware lists, although not everything (and some that weren't suggested in all cases but were supposedly related to mi account stuff), although another thing I did was unlog the mi account from the phone. I think I might have logged it in about a month ago when I wanted to change something with my mi router, and although nothing is set to backup to their cloud perhaps it did work in the background in some ways which heavily drained the battery?
I'll see when the battery is close to 0 what is the actual SOT.

Honestly i don't really know. For example the past night i left my phone on and everything went fine, no drain or strange issues. I always use the battery saver mode and i disabled most of the miui apps with luck patcher, except security, clock and some basic apps

Makes me wonder what it was doing in the background when all of the optional battery-draining features were supposedly disabled.
