Hi Guys, Im all new so sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I deliverede my Z3 to the repair center yesterday since water apparently got into it, Today they send me these pictures?...but i dont know what im looking at?....The phone was subjected to water and crashed, All thought all seals and what not was closed, Im certain they will claim it my fault, but believe me double checked the flaps...Anyways...What am i looking at?
if i'm not mistaken that that's the vibration motor. and that white much could be the water damage ?
It looks to be where the strap hole is located, maybe a speaker? Or as mentioned above.
EDIT: Apologies, I looked at that picture again and i was looking at it from the opposite side. Strap hole is located on opposite end.

To OP, I did some digging since I was curious myself about what that might be. I found this article, which shows a breakdown of the Z3 with detailed pictures. Hope this helps.

Hello, looking for a broken/borked/dead HTC One to attempt a different disassembly method to try to help the One community.
It is my understanding that they are glued together, not screwed, and that the suction cup method does not work. I used to retrofit headlights that also used glues, some heat glues, some needed a solvent. I have a lot of technical skill, and i would like to try my hand at popping one apart WITHOUT destroying the case/screen. I dont care if its water damaged, cracked screen, whatever, as long as its intact.
Posted this in all HTC One sections, please PM me if you have one or know of one, i'll pay shipping to and fro (i will NOT attempt repairs, JUST non-destructive disassembly) and post the results and a video on youtube if successful, and ship the unit back disassembled if successful, and not damaged further if not successful.
Please PM if interested or if you have any heads up to exchange contact information.
Thank you,

thats new since i had searched; i dont think bending the display is a good idea (unless its broken) with a suction cup like that.
thanks for the link; no point in this thread then :good:
I literally just took my One for a swim. Trying to figure out what to do with it...tried rice it seems completely dead.

if it was chlorine water, the corrosion will kill it., but some of the hardware might survive. connectors would all need cleaned.

I think there is, iFixit said themselves their repair was a butcher job. They also didnt say whether or not they were able to successfully reassemble. I'd like to know if there's another way, perhaps using a scientific hot plate or as the you stated in the OP, a glue solvent that wont hurt the components. I hope this is not the the wave of the future with equipment..."Disposable Expensive Phones"...or Assurian gets more popular selling their plan and sending 75% crap... BTW, I agree with the nonbending of LCD/Digitizers...I see so many tutorials showing this.

Send it to me, or the OP if he's still ineterested. I've been opening/repairing phones for 19 years and have never been stumped. PM me if youre interested, I'm in Colorado. No guarantees, but I'll do the best I can.

definitely still interested.
hey all,
so it finally happened, my precious One fell of the side of a low cabinet today on tiled floor, there is a very slight dent in the bottom speaker grill cover and the paint has chipped
I want to know if anybody has successfully replaced this part?
I can see Etrade Supply stock the item I need, but I dont know this supplier, can anybody vouch for them? is it genuine HTC OEM parts?
http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc-one-top-cover-and-bottom-cover.html
any help would be appreciated.
Zak
ok so ive seen the drop test and it looks like the bottom cover should pop off easily because it is glued on, some heat and some force.
now would just like to know if anybody has bought anything from Etrade Supply before?

Did you manage to change the grill yet? Also from the pictures on the earpiece grill next to the sensors. Is that a screw hole or an alignment slot? I just chipped my corners and hoping they dont screw in from behind

Hi I hit my phone and it has damage on the white part of the phone and on the speakers cover on the front. I ordered the replacement for the cover, but I have no idea how can I replace it without damaging my phone. Please help if possible.
Thanks
Apparently the top speaker cover is screwed in. The bottom one can pop off, but I've read that it can be very difficult.
Probably unlikely you can remove the covers without damaging the phone.

I know that the bottom speaker grill is glued in and can be removed with caution, but I am not sure about the top one, to be honest.
Hello,
Looking at this video the top speaker grill also looks glued.

I think the speakers cover, white plastic and aluminum back body are all glued together in one piece so it would be very hard (if not impossible) to replace any of those separately.
I'm confused. From my understanding, the speakers are part of the unibody design. You cannot remove it unless you're removing the entire body. Look at the following image:

Thanks for all the answers. I still do not have clear if the top speaker grill is glued or screwed, on the video it seems to be already out but on side is always attached to the phone so I am not sure.

help me..... same thing happened to me.... i hit my phone but my bottom speaker cover half came out and half stuck can anyone tell me what to do
My Xperia T's front panel/screen/faceplate lifted from the bottom half. Phone still works fine, read all my touch controls. but it may proved problematic soon. I see black strips which assumingly is the adhesive strips/gasket around the phone.
I do not know how to disassemble the phone, nor do I want to if it's not necessary. I can find the video and watched some myself. But from what I see, disassembly does not include my problem, they showed how to remove screw to get to the screen/digitizer in one. but how to "glue" it back.
Now I'm seeing some LOCA adhesive glue on eBay, maybe I can just buy it, apply a very light layer on and around the edges/adhesive strips, and push it in and over UV light for a minute, maybe it'll stay glued. the LOCA adhesive liquid also doesn't seem to damage or lose touch effectiveness on other phones, like Apple or Samsung, but I don't know about Xperias.
What do you think? How can I fix my problem the easy way? or any way?

This happened to mine when I dropped it, kinda panicked and pushed it back in. That's my advice just apply a bit of pressure and it should click back in fine.
Just to make sure for me it was the part where the shiny plastic at the front meets the matte plastic back, is that where it lifted?
Is it possible for you to post a picture? Because if it

That the screen is lifted above the shiny plastic then also there is no problem and with the right amount of pressure you can click it back in.

You can send it off to LG, I think it's like $130-$150 to get it fixed. Given it's just cracked in the corner, a case would probably cover that up in the mean time.

Well, in Indonesia, LG replace the broken screen for the first 6 months warranty for free, only for LG G2.
yep
I have this issue too. Dropped mine (in the included case) and it fell out of the case , gently tapping the ground and I have about an inch crack down the left of the screen. Only hairline but still it's noticeable during use. Might give it a go replacing myself as I'm not paying LG £100.

The guy is pretty damn slow but i get the idea. heat the screen, wedge it off the lcd. Clean, stick new digitser on.
what is the cleaning solution he used? Just, that is going to be a key part, as it needs to be perfectly clean before you put the digitiser glass over it, or I will forever have to put up with a sticky horrible looking screen! Any tips, advice, and your recommendations for screen cleaner would be great.
I asked LG People They told that they will fix it for 130$ and I can't claim the warranty as it's physical damage..

90% alcohol to clean the LCD and you can use a razor blade to scrape the big stuff off. Be warned I fix phones as a hobby that pays and separating the glass from the digitizer/LCD is not easy! You should look it up on YouTube there are a lot of videos of it being done with Samsung phones. The key to it is the right amount of heat (too much will damage the LCD) and going very slow. If you crack the LCD it will cost more to replace it than the cost to have LG do it. The guy in the video was a little too rough in my opinion and I suggest using a plastic pick. Be very gentle and take your time all the way through. Good luck!

I'd just put a znitro tempered glass protector on that with a case and be done.
I replaced my screen (water damage) with one from Ebay. Cost $120 and I did the work myself. Though, you really don't need a new screen.
