Hello
I've been trying to install ota bugfixes on my HTC one m7_U (running android lollipop 5.0.2 official) but because I'm on cwm recovery it's not working. Does anyone have the lollipop stock recovery for the HTC one m7 _U?
Thanks!
So frustrating, I've tried more than 10 recoveries but it's not working, the update stops midprocess and the device reboots.

So you were on 7.19.401.102 and updated to 7.19.401.121 and the phone is stuck at htc logo. How log did you waited for the phone to boot? First boot can take up to 10-15 minutes on lollipop.
@alray more than half an hour

Did you unlocked the bootloader via htcdev.com when the phone was on 7.19.401.102? If so did you restored everything back to stock before updating like /data/preload? No modification to /system? Any custom kernel installed before the update?
For now try a factory reset and check if it will boot (wait at least 10-15 min on the htc white screen)
@alray everything was stock 100% but the bootloader was unlocked. prelode data present and all
did a factory reset waited for more than 30 minutes nothing happened

So I guess you will have to re-flash a custom recovery and flash a nandroid backup of 7.19.401.121 or a custom rom maybe?
Edit: can't find any backup of 7.19.401.121, I think flashing a custom rom like MaximusHD, ARHD or something similar is your best bet for now, maybe someone will upload a backup of 7.19.401.121 later but at least you'll be able to use your phone right now.
@alray don't know much about custom roms but i can try.. do you recommend maximus HD or nusenseven?
do i need s-off to flash a custom rom??
@alray also do i need s-off to use a nanodroid backup? i found one that i created using cwm can i flash it using twrp? where should i place it?

No, if it was made with CWM it must be restore with CWM.
@alray Thanks! Phone working on 7.19.401.121! Had to flash a cwm recovery and restore my nandroid backup, wipe data/factory reset upgrade to lollipop another reset then upgrade to 7.19.401.121.. took me a while but it worked.
I think I'll make a thread on how to fix these problems..

Oke guys,
I probally did one of the most stupid things. Got my One transformed tot a GPE 4.3 version works smooth. Yesterday an OTA update to 4.4 really messed up my day. Try to install everything gone....No i am not able to install any version at al.
Got the last version of TWRP installed. got myself an unlocked bootloader even an 4.3 GPE rom. But TWRP keeps giving me the message "Error flashing zip: 'sdcard/<M7_UL_JB443_STOCK_UI.
can someone help me solve this problem..
For 4.3 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.0 and not 2.6.3.3.
Flash it and let us know

Thans for you answer. I now got another one. "Unable to mount /data
unable to mount internal storage
I'm also not able to mount then by the menu.
Why do you need to mount internal storage?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
After installing the right twrp version. i use ADB to push the image.zip to my phone. Then i use twrp install and browse to my sdcard where the image.zip is transferred to. when i click it it gives that error. By the way he also starts with error flashing zip.
Comlete error is:
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/M7_UL_JB43..
updating partition details
e:unable to mount /data
e: unable to mount internal storage
i fear for my device...
Please anyone who can help me?
what about to boot to Bootloader, connect to some tools like Hasoon2000 Toolkits (cannot post links yet, sorry) and format everything you got, than flash the recovery again and push the rom via adb
make sure you download rom without any downloader
do not worry, i bricked my one the same day i got it and took me two nights to make it work again it needs lot of trying and searching but eventually you fix it
Thanks for your reply, i flashed everything a couple times. I guess is have the right rom. i do worry cause i tried so many things. Thinking about sending in my phone to HTC today..

what exactly are you trying to flash, link please.
i tried so many things is don't know exaclty the links. I tried different custom recovery. CWM and TWRP. Since i don't have an OS any more i tried to install de M7xxx.zip
Is the error still unable to mount sdcard? If so, follow post # 3 in my Canadian stock link.. You may need to use a recovery closer to your HBOOT version.

Hi all,
My girlfriend has a HTC One M7, currentley Rooted with an Unlocked bootloader, Bulletproof Kernel, CWM Recovery, S-On (can't get S-OFF no matter what I try) and running the stock 4.4.2 Sense ROM that came with the phone.
She wants to install an OTA update, obviously this won't work with the phone in it's current state. I've got experience with all of this with my Note II, but the M7 is just a whole different can of worms.
What I've tried:
Getting S-OFF (no luck whatsoever with any tools)
Flashing stock recovery and kernel
Flashing stock recovery and kernel and applying the OTA manually via recovery
I've read everything on here and nothing seems to go in. She just wants to be able to install OTA updates, even if it means unrooting her phone permanently as this will happen each time there is an OTA update.
Someone, please guide me in the right direction! Step by step maybe?
Keep in mind there is no way I can't get S-OFF.
Huge thanks to anyone that can help. I'd be eternally in your debt!!

I suppose the phone is trying to apply to ota update and then show a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside?
What I've tried:
Getting S-OFF (no luck whatsoever with any tools) Any error message when trying to S-OFF? You must use the correct tool for your hboot version (probably firewater) + combination of the correct rom + kernel
Flashing stock recovery and kernel --> You must have stock recovery for ota, ota will not install using a custom one.
Flashing stock recovery and kernel and applying the OTA manually via recovery --> appyling the ota manually from stock recovery require s-off

your version-main? (rom version) Go in settings --> About --> Software info --> Rom version
maybe there is a ruu you could use to restore the phone(4.19.401.9), if it match your version

forget the ruu, your phone version is higher than the ruu. flashing a ruu (4.11.401.10) with a lower version than on your phone(4.11.401.11) require s-off.

No, this is the latest stock rom(5.11.401.10) for your phone model (MID: PN0710000 and CID:HTC__001) including android 4.4.2 and sense 6.0
You can flash this stock odexed rom(5.11.401.10) from custom recovery, then flash the stock recovery(5.11.401.10) over the custom one and your phone will be stock and ready to take future ota update. You may also want to update firmware to 5.11.401.10
So after flashing that rom and stock recovery, ota would be ready to roll? Would the kernel matter?
What's the purpose / Difference of firmware and how is it updated? On my note II it was just choose a rom choose a kernel and off you go. This is so much more involved

stock kernel in included in the rom (boot.img) so if you don't flash any other kernel it should be fine.

firmware is all the low level code required for your phone hardware to works with the software (OS)
when speaking about HTC phone, firmware.zip include HBOOT(bootloader), BOOT(kernel), Recovery, Radio and some other stuff. if you want your phone to be 100% stock you need both stock rom + stock firmware to match the same version i.e 5.11.501.10
normally, the firmware is updated at the same time the rom version is updated (from an ota update) If you flash a rom, the rom will be updated but not the firmware.
Updating the firmware manually can be dangerous is you don't know what you are doing and flashing the wrong file. You can update firmware using this command from bootloader (with the correct firmware.zip package in the same folder you have adb and fastboot):
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
also it looks like flashing a 5.x.xxx.x firmware over a 3.x.xxx.x firmware will brick your phone. from what i see, your phone should be on a 4.x.401.x version at the moment, so it theory it should be fine.
Fails on:
>>>setting permissions
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /data/media/0/one_5.11.401.10_odexed.zip
(status 7)
Tried 3 different versions of cwm. Bad rom download?
Thinking about it I just re read your above post, could it be because the firmware isn't matched? I read your 'it should be fine' as 'dont update the firmware' not 'its fine to update' which I think is what you meant...
Firmware is 4.19.401.11 however the rom is 5.11.401.10. Can't believe I overlooked this, guess firmware needs to be 5.11.401.10 for the rom to take?

Huh?
Is this a requirement of ARHD or....?
Just seems odd
Edit: success!! All seems to work. Thank you. She's overjoyed!!!
Last night I got a notification for a System Update to version 6.12.161.5.
Has anyone tried this yet? And any problems found?
With the last two updates over the last 3-4 months I have had major problems:
1. When VodaFone forced the Rich Communication Suite / Service upon us; abysmal battery performance and terrible instability problem with phone frequently crashing on incoming calls and texts - which I 'solved' by Disabling RCS.
2. When VodaFone pushed the next update that greyed out the box to Disable RCS (they appeared to fix the instability and battery drain problem, but now I don't even have the option to disable RCS).
After lots of self-help and web searching I now have a stable phone with decent battery life again, and given those past painful experiences I am somewhat reluctant to blindly update.
Has anyone tried this Update yet, and can you comment after a few days of usage, particuarly on stability and battery usage?
Thanks
David

you can not flash OTA to unbrick a phone. You need to flash the complete rom. And btw, OTA can not be flashed manually with S-ON, it must be initiated from the OS .

Well reading this sound like different from what you say... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823; but probably I'm wrong...
The actual thing is there's no Ruu nor OTA nor Zip for CID VODAP405 around... Or does?

Unfortunately, there is not much files for that CID.
I don't understand what you want to attempt with an OTA file. Firmware included in OTA are not complete, it only contain files to be updated in an incremental way. If you manually flash a firmware from an OTA updates and you do it over the wrong version (currently installed on your phone) this could end with a bricked phone (hardbrick)
Flashing the entire OTA zip file will not help either. OTA files are patches that must be installed over a working rom and proper rom version. It also must be flashed using the "software update" option within the OS (unless the phone is s-off)
what you should do imo, is to start over fresh, flash twrp recovery 2.6.3.3 and flash a "close to stock" rom
Flash firmware from OTA...
First I want to thank for your help...
Then just to explain things, here's my awkward situation:
- I have a working rom but with battery that always stays at 1% no matter what, I get an ota update but I can't update since it says there's not enought battery...
the ota It gets is a 4.19.1540.9 which doesn't match with the follwing:
version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.57.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4T.28.3218.04

To finish the cake: recovery doesn't work and bootloader is relocked and doesn't unlock anymore....
Any suggestion?

how did you manage s-on + locked bootloader + no recovery ?
was this phone converted to DE or GPE at one time ?
Flash firmware from OTA...
I actually didn't do anything extraordinary except maybe to have flashed a rom with a different cid which got an update and brought me almost a this situation.
Then I wanted to bring the device to stock, so I flashed the original recovery and relocked the booloader. Nothing else.
I don't know why at the moment there's no way to enter recovery and if I try to unlock the bootloader again I reach the screen where I must agree on the device's screen to unlock, but then It just stuck on htc logo whilw trying to enter recovery..

are you sure your not just going to stock recovery ?
have you done the fastboot erase cache ?
followed by fastboot reboot-bootloader ?
what was the last custom recovery you had on their and what happened to make it gone ? RUU ?

I was usimg twrp recovery, then I'm pretty sure I flashed the stock recovery, I don't know what happened to make it disappear, It just happened! I haven't been able to use any Ruu well since I never found the right one matching my CID., so I always got an error..

SOLVED! Unbrikked THC ONE M/!!!!!
So thanks to MIke 1986 and his great page link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823, I managed to recover my very very hrad brikked phone!!!!!!!!!
Here's what I did:
1- checked all phone's details with fastboot getavar all---> took note of CID - MID - versione OS installed etc.
2- took the OTA update corresponding to the firmware installed and extracted the firmware.zip
3- flashed the firmware.zip via fastboot (fastboot oem rebootRUU - fastboot flash zip firmware.zip [thanks to mike 1986]) ; #Alray: since a phone is S-On there's no risk to flash a wrong firmware and as I did anyone can do it via normal fastboot command with no issue!
4-In this way I recovered stock recovery and the possibility to unlock the bootloader again!!
5-moved a CWM nand backup to phone sd using sideload push command ( sideload push nandbackupname.zip /sd/cwm/backup/dateof backup - just make a nand backup yourself first to get exact loaction)
6-recovered from nandbackup using proper tool of cwm.
7-enjoyED MY revived device!!!!!! NOT THANKS TO ALRAY....http://cdn4.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

The risk is there, if you flash a firmware patch (ota firmware) over the wrong version (i.e 5.xx.xxx.x over 3.xx.xxx.x), this could brick. Happened many times that's why its mentioned in some threads. There is no risk flashing the same version like you did
Hi,
I have a Sprint HTC One M7 running stock rom and S-Off(bought it new, thats what i thought then, it is S-off so refurbished maybe). I wanted to upgrade it to sense 6 rom. I did the following procedure:
1. Unlocked bootloader through HTCDev – Success,
2. Based on my readings, flashed recoveries (twrp, philz, cwm) through fastboot – The phone hangs at entering recovery. Hence unable to root.
3. Wasn’t able to get adb working with the rom on. Was always showing HTC one in device manager .Tried various drivers but didn’t work.
Despite this, was able to boot into rom and use as normal. So tried doing the same procedure yesterday. Viola, the Rom is not booting anymore. It stays stuck at the splash screen. I have not wiped anything other than cache so I am sure the rom is still there. I have tried the following steps,
1. Tried installing stock recovery to factory reset – Get a red triangle with ! mark above a phone symbol and stays there. Goes no further.
2. Tried several other recoveries(sprint ones) – When I check adb devices, it detects the phone and says it’s in recovery. Nothing on the phone.
3. Tried going back to stock by flashing RUU(after relocking bootloader) – Error 120 battery below 30% is the message I get. I am sure the battery is above 90% and I it is charging. While charging I noticed the LED at the top changed from Red to Green which I assume means battery is above 90%.
Right now the only thing I am able to access is fastboot. I think when I reboot, it is trying to boot into recovery by default even without me selecting recovery. It is showing recovery after every boot in adb but nothing on the phone. I don’t know where I went wrong in all this.
Can anybody suggest what I can do to bring my HTC back to life. Don’t need sense 6 after all these hassles, just want it working.

OK. Looks like i did this "fastboot flash boot recovery.img". I know its a stupid mistake but need help recovering. Will i be able to boot into the rom if i flash kernel? If yes, can anybody link me to kernel for 3.04.651.2?
Still have the other problem of not being able to boot into recovery despite flashing it in the correct partition.

You are also in the wrong section. If you flashed anything from this section that's why you can't boot. You need to be in the sprint htc one section

Tried flashing RUU. Get error 120 - low battery. Can i just get the specific kernal and flash it through fastboot?
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to this and my english is pretty bad so sorry in advance but I've tried to fix this for a few hours now and I've only made the situation worse for myself
I found my "old" HTC One M7 a couple of days back so I thought it would be a good idea to root it and play around with xposed framework and some cool modules I heard about. So I managed to unlock the bootloader, flash CWM Recovery and root my phone. No problems so far.
Now, yesterday I wanted to remove xposed framework from my phone so I thought I could just recover from the backup I made in CWM Recovery before I installed the framework. Turns out that was not the greatest of ideas and my phone got stuck on the boot screen.
I didnt think of it like such a big deal and I tried to factory reset and wipe the phone to maybe get it working again. Turns out that was not the greatest idea either and now I cant go into recovery, I can't flash a new recovery and my computer wont recognizes my phone at all (Except for fastboot)
I've installed and uninstalled all drivers I could possibly think of and find and I still cant find a solution to my problem. I tried to flash a RUU but that didnt work either. I can barely do anything with my phone anymore and I can't think of anything else I havent tried. Please help

You need to flash firmware again, search on arhd's website they have all the firmwares and after that ruu will work, I don't remember step by step process but you can always search on google. For RUU to work you need to flash firmware first, its mandatory.
RUU contains the firmware, so there is no need to flash anything except the actual RUU. You problem is relocked bootloader and custom recovery. First thing you need to do is unlock your bootloader again. Then we can talk about other steps to get your phone working again

Great! Now, download ARHD ROM, and tranfer the zip to your phone using MTP option in recovery
While you wait, you might want to edit your "fastboot getvar all" and remove your IMEI and serial no [emoji6]
