Hi people,
The question is self explanatory... Besides, I am using a custom rom and stock kernel on my X, so I flashed the Moto Camera and Gallery, but I don't want use them anymore.
I tried to uninstall both apps using Titanium, but after I restart both of them came back =(
Edit: Just remove them from system/priv-app using twrp.

Hello All,
I used to be on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe MUIU rom and bunch of other custom roms. Every rom has its ones pros and cons but were not very stable. So, I thought I will go back to stock. So, I flash stock rom and stock recovery and received OTA update and installed the updates. Now my phone is on the below version.
Android Version 2.2.1
Build Number - FRG83D
Market Version - 2.12
Baseband Version - 32.26.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
I was able to successfully download and install many apps but whenever I try to download YouTube I always get "Installation of Youtube unsuccessfull" message. Also, I researched and saw that some people in Europe on Vodafone rom are having this issue. How do I know if my android version is totally stock?
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can successfully install this app without having to root my phone again? I would like to stay stock and unrooted if possible.
Thanks.
use titanium or manually uninstall the current youtube app, reboot then try to install again. Its because its a system app currently. youll probably have to do the same for car home, street view and a few others
I am un rooted, so I won't be able to use titanium. how do I uninstall manually though? I didn't have any issues installing other apps like street view etc.
Make sure the app is installed on your phone, and unmount the SD before updating...

I tried un mounting SD card and installing and still that didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though.
Try uninstalling the old version of YouTube first.

....if you do not have root access how were you flashing an miui rom?
I was getting the exact same thing as you were, all you need to do is remove the old youtube app
good luck
Thanks for the responses. Like I said in my post I was rooted before but un rooted and went to complete stock 2.2.1. I know uninstalling youtube would resolve this issue but I am trying to find a way to uninstall the app without being rooted.

I came from stock gb rom flashed a stock ics firmware using pc odin. Now i can't install apks anymore using astro file manager or even the stock file manager. The install button doesn't function. Ive already ticked the install from anonymous sources but still no go. What went wrong? Help.
Get on a safe kernel and try wiping cache, dalvik, and data. (Franco, speedmod, or CM9)
Do NOT wipe data on stock ICS!
Is that the only workaround? Im a little bit worried about bricking my device with all the horror stories here.
Downloading and installing apps thru google play works fine. However when i try installing apps using astro, all my downloaded apps won't install, the install button doesn't respond.

I don't know what Astro is....so I'm not sure what else to tell you.
Sorry...astro is a file manager
Have you tried installing apps from Amazon app store?
Not yet, i only tried installing from google play, only my previous downloaded apps wont install using a filemanager. when i press the install button nothing happens.About flashing a safe kernel, how do we go about it?
I had similar problem it was caused by Screen Filter app.

I also have screen filter app installed, did you uninstall yours?
Wow!! Removing the screen filter app did the trick! Thanks a lot man!
Same Problem !!
I had the same problem, now solved after removing the screen filter app.
This is just a guess - maybe the old apks are not compatible with ics maybe they are outdated and would only install on gb.
I really could use some help here. I tried to root my note (ICS 4.0.4 LRQ) using the root unlocker tool for windows. It failed but it installed the superuser app. Eventually I gained root access by flashing super su and busybox using stock recovery (latest rooting method introduced in August 2012). Now everything is fine except one thing. I use super su and want to get rid of superuser. I managed to uninstall it using System Tuner Pro (strangely it is not shown in Titanium Backup). But the problem is that superuser reinstalls itself with every reboot. How can I stop this? I tried to uninstall it and to delete it manually but all to no avail. Any ideas what I can do?

If TB is no listing the app, (weird), they Link2SD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
uninstall it from there... if not able to .. try converting it to user app and then try
also try uninstalling the updates first and then the main app
Download this
http://download.chainfire.eu/212/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip
Flash from recovery
if the superuser app is installing again with every boot then it maybe because of your kernel.. have u flashed the hydracore kernel or speedmod kernel.. if you got speedmod kernel then create a file in /system name it .noautoroot using rootexplorer.. now delete the the superuser app from /system/app(not the supersu app).. now it will not install it again again.. if you have hydracore kernel then i don't have any solution.. maybe out there on xda someone knows

Thanks it helped, superuser is finally gone. Do you know why exactly it has worked? What other things apart from installing super su does this zip file?

It just adds super super, or overwrites existing. As well removing superuser if existing.

Just what I needed. Thanks.

I am new to Rooting. I have never done anything to my device besides install the updates as Verizon makes them available.
Are there any good guides to doing this?

Hi!
I'm new and I can't post in the main discussion and I need help about rooting...
I bought my D4 in USA (to use in Europe) and it comes with ICS, Rsd Lite provide this description:
Software Version: 6.7.2-180_DR4-16_M2-37
Flex Version: XSAMASR01VRZNA025.0R
Bootloader Version: 0a74
Btw, I downloaded the Tool, RSD, Drivers.
After drivers and RSD (by my old motorola experience), I successfully connected my phone, with debug on and MTP.
I tried to root with the tool (function 9) and it seems everything fine...
I've got superuser, but it doesn't work properly...so I don't know if the root was ok or not...
How can I check the situation?
Thanks

If all you have done is root your phone you are still on your stock Motorola ROM. Maserati is just the D4's code name. Now you have the option of installing safestrap recovery and custom ROMs but it sounds like you just want to be able to remove some bloatware apps. You do NOT want to uninstall apps on your stock ROM. If you do you will be unable update to the latest over-the-air updates without flashing the ICS fastboot files. Use an app like Titanium Backup to FREEZE apps.

Thanks again...so I have root permission and Titanium Backup just works perfectly...at least I would like to remove all the apps of Verizon and also unuseful for me (like Amazon, MOG, Netflix...).
At the moment I don't want to install custom ROMs...what is safestrap recovery for?
What does it mean that I will be unable update to the latest over-the-air updates? Can I UNINSTALL the apps with Titanium Backup or should I just FREEZE? SOLVED
Thanks!

Safestrap recovery is a custom recovery that you can boot into that allows you to install custom ROMs (AOKP, CM10.1, etc.). So if you're not interested in custom ROMs don't worry about it.
What I was referring to when I talked about not being able install the latest OTA updates is that if you change anything about the stock system, such as uninstalling a verizon app that you wouldn't normally be able to uninstall, when the next update comes along, like Jelly Bean, it will fail when trying to install. That is why, in general, you should freeze instead of uninstall.

Hi, i can't find an answer for my trouble so i need to ask.
I have unlocked and rooted my phone with magisk. Then i tried to remove some google apps with titanium backup. Everything seems working but the app remain working on the drawer. Then i tried to install a custom kernel (boeffla) and this time the app was successful removed, only to get it reinstalled (upgraded) by the play store! How i can stop this please? Ho i forgot, the rom is the stock rom.
