Hmmm the Xperia is identical to GS+ apart from a slower clocked CPU, it just goes to show the software that samsung have stuck on this phone is dog**** and slow.
You could try the better GPU drivers for our phone have a look here.

we are stuck with it until Samsung start supporting our device more, the cheaper Galaxy W is getting all the support it needs i knew i should of bought that one instead.
1st: next time post such stuff in the Q&A thread
2nd: the first thing i noticed, other than that the whole stock software is crappy, is that RAM performance is not well customized, try using the supercharger script and set the minfrees for 512mb RAM, i think ur problem lies there.. i use the stock rom with stock kernel, i free ram with the stock task manager before launching it and GTA3 runs just fine

Oh Man :/ I really miss my iPhone 3GS.. It was really smooth without any scripts, roms, mods...
My SGS+ is running 1.8 ghz , but still laggy, low fps on games compared to iphone 3gs..

the hardware on the S+ is really great for a single core phone, but the software sucks, if we had a lil more developing in our section we would've had the real deal , even though there are a few custom roms out there. my friend who owns an iphone 4 always repeats the fact that he doesn't need to do anything additional to his phone and that "it just works", and we have to accept that fact, even though, with the right software we can get a better product than the iphone 4

if Apple makes a better product then we gotta admit it and give them the credits for that. there is no need for any Android vs iphone mood. Competition is healthy, it can only make our phones better.

1. This discussion belongs in the general discussion thread not in the development section.
2. Unless you intend starting a flame war I would suggest that singing the praises of a certain fruit associated manufacturer in an Android forum is not a great plan.
3. If you want to compare phones then make sure they are in the same price class. So if your going to match Android against the fruit munger phone then you need to compare with the galaxy nexus or galaxy s ii.

Im playing the game right now and it runs smooth, you cant even see framedrops.
this game was made for the 9001, i only heard of people having problems with the normal galaxy. maybe you need to get your phone fixed or clear up some ram, because what you're saying is simply not true.
+1 GTA 3 lag on my device

AFAIK GTA3 is supposed to run on devices with a dual-core processor (iPhone 4S, SGS2, Sensation etc).
I guess it's not a marketing trick (like it was in case of most "tegra only" games) and the game really needs 2 cores for runing fine and smooth.
Anyway, i dont think we lost something big
Its working perfectly on my Sensation, brilliant gameplay and smooth frame rates...
Meh I'm gonna wait for some Vice City before putting GTA on any if my phones. After Vice City was released, I can't even play GTA III anymore...

Not sure, but surley if it has battery hog issues , then iam not going to CM9 , waiting for an expert reply though
It's definitely better then CM7, and probably better then many other roms out there. At least try it out.

Try tOnecosmic's ICS Port!!!
It is amazing, good battery life, very smooth, works great as my daily Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
I DON'T recommend going to ICS just yet (unless you want to beta test), builds are still too early, they are unreliable for everyday use and it'll be a while until we get a stable and good performing rom, CM7 is much better right now, but it may change in the future though.
ICS launcher FC a lot, gallery app and browser are laggy, and if you use live wallpapers everything slows down a lot, also there are many app incompatibilities now. I tried to like ICS but it's still in alpha stages (don't believe all those RC1 or beta labels, it's really not ready)
CM7 is great but yes, it's a battery hog. You could use a samsung rom (a custom ODEXED rom or stock are fine) and a custom kernel, I use semaphore with thunderbolt and it's very good performing, it can't touch CM7 in RAM management (isn't as good in multitasking), but videos, games play nice and samsung has a few good apps (it's dialer has smart dialing and its a looker, it can play almost all videos even h264 720p 60fps, music app uses very little battery since it's HW accelerated and its browser is as smooth as the iphone's, it can't be touched by CM7's), and you can delete all other samsung bloatware.

Thanks for your reply !! , i used to be on almost every new ROM lately but i couldn't handle the Lag even with using Thunderbolt and stuff , it was veryyy laggy and not responsive , iam now on CM7.1 and i have to say it is waaaaaay faster than the sammy build roms , too bad i get some force closes often and i HATE how low the music is , the music player sucks alot of battery though
my best Samsung experience was on Hybrid roms , stable , fast.
btw not all CM9 builds are bad ! you can try search for the AndroidSoul's review of cm9 , it looks veryyyyy smooth !
any recommendations for now ?

Thanks so much man ! i have seen some videos for the onecosmic's port and it is veryy fast indeed !!!!
i wonder how long do you last with heavy usage / medium usage ?
what about standby ?? , iam so going to try this soon !
With heavy usage I can use my Phone one day, but this was the same with Gingerbread.
When I only have low or medium usage, the battery lasts 1 1/2 - 2 Days, very good for a non final release. But most i charge my phone every night.

I didn't watch any videos, I flashed both versions myself and ICS isn't ready yet, got too many FC, lags heavily on some occasions and isn't as fast as CM7 (we're talking about the version for the i9000 right? )
It'll reach great performance levels in the future I'm sure, but saying that it's perfect for daily use or better than CM7 is just going a little too far.
And have you tried a high LMK for sammy roms? Like 80MB or higher, you won't be able to multitask much, but performance will be very good for games or heavy apps

- well , i have never tried messing up with memory but i assure you i have had troubles multitasking , and very very very bad response time on almost any sammy rom , even with overclocking i don't really feel any difference
all what i used to flash on sammy roms was base rom + custom rom on top of it + some tweaks like thunderbolt script , overclocking wasn't even noticed
i also used to tweak the colors
Hello , i was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the best rom for gaming ? im currently on zeus 7.0 the games are running way better than my original v20c firmware but i still have some lags in games like : gangstar rio , and the amazing spider-man , and i would really like them to play a bit better , so can someone point me to a good gaming rom ? or maybe someway i could boost my gpu ? , i tried installing chainfire 3d but honestly i dont know how to use it , and one last thing what does voltage have to do with overclocking and how do i know what overclocking value suits the voltage ?
sorry for all the questions i'm still trying to get the hang of it . =/
Mercurified or Zeus hands down.
My main agenda is to help, not gain thanks.
well u get the thank yo?u anyway , but still the other questions arent answered yet :/
zeus or cm7 with boype's kernel
voltage depends on your phone itself but i keep it neutral (i.e. 0 in zeus)
Personally, I had better gaming experience with Boypes cm7 than Zeus 6.39. I have never tried Zeus 7.01 but I would like to know if its better now.

zeus 7.01 is not bad in gaming it can run the amazing spider-man pretty good , but still there are some games that lag a bit , but can anyone give me a link to byope's kernel ?

Hi all guys, I want to ask everyone to help me understanding why I my device is a bit laggy. Ok, I don't have a nexus, but I have an amazing quad core processor, a tegra 3 chipset!!
And even if flash custom ROMs I have this lag feeling, and not only feeling sometimes. I will be more accurate.
1) When I install apps or uninstall apps, I have some lags, now OK the phone is doing a big task but it is a bit too laggy.
2) Switching between apps can be laggy some times, and not just with big apps.
3) I have noticed that even having not much apps working background, the phone give me this impression of lagness, I have 1gb ram and a quad core, I get angry if it start to run slowly only for some apps working background, I mean the hardware is powerfully enough.
After all I must say that I have tryed these ROMs.
Carbon, slimbean, liquid smooth, and CyanogenMod (that is a bit better on performance).
My favourite is slimbean because I feel it stable.
And I have tryed most of the kernels, like werewolf, optimous prime, and iodak at last, and I like this last one.
Can someone help me understand this? Thank you guys!
Ah, sorry for my not clear English :S

I have no idea, I don't play any games on phone ^^
I have tried kitkat and it is nice, but it's not much stable so I have chosen to return to stock (zaiben rom) with iodak kernel and I'm impressed, it is fast and smooth with this kernel.
Anyway I think that all Roms that we have are unstable in their way, so I prefer stock where all works.

Hello guys!
I just want to ask if i'm the only one who has LG 4X HD and has poor multitasking performance. I had HTC One S (S4 version) for a couple of months and i thought i could make an upgrade with this Lg phone. But i don't know if it's from the software, the hardware or it's just the phone itself. When i'm on Opera Mobile with only 3 tabs opened and want to switch from one tab to another, the animation it's very laggy. When i'm playing a game, let's say CSR Racing for 30 minutes, if i just press Home button to go to Apex Launcher i have lag for a couple of seconds...it's just staying freezed for 4-5 seconds and then i can see the launcher. And it's not like the launcher isn't on RAM memory cause i know how it is.
I was on Stock Jb when i bought the phone. I rooted and all this stuff and now i'm on "Enox rom [stock v20d]". All the lags that i'm having are on Enox. I'm sad because now i'm feeling that HTC One S (which was dual core) was way more better than LG 4x. I had no lags on HTC.
So, guys, pls tell me: it's the phone? Or should i try another ROMs?
Thanks a lot for your answers!

enox is awesome rom with many features, but it's very "heavy", since it has many system apps ported from g/g pro/g2 etc, which are running in background and thus slowing the phone down. i recommend either stock with iodak kernel or custom aosp-based roms, if you wish to have better performance
