I know when I get a new message (whatsapp, text, etc) it always shows the name of the person sending it to me. Does anyone know a way for it to show the app name instead? For instance, if I get a new facebook notification, my watch will show "Facebook" on the bottom of the screen (when watch is on always-on mode and I'm not actively using it). If I get a whatsapp message, it shows the name of the person instead of "Whatsapp". The reason I ask is because I have always-on turned on, everyone who sees my watch face, will be able to see the name of the person who messaged me (hence my need for privacy). Does anyone know how I can do this?
Thanks!

If you install Google voice app I think it gives you a notification... for me .. it sends me an email, a text message and the google voice app notifies me
Kind of redundant but well is cool

yep the google voice app works REALLY well on these phones and does provide notifications for google voice events. it also gives you the option so that when you make an outgoing call it asks you if you wanna use google voice or regular number which comes in handy. Highly recommended that you download it if you have GV
I have it installed but i figured i could just shut off the freq check by google voice to some high number so it doesnt affect the battery. And just set a notification for the text message i get.
Yea it is awesome, can't wait until they release it for another languages .. I Laugh so hard when someone leaves me voice mail in Spanish, it translates to this

I went to google.com/voice from my computer and from there you can turn off the email and text notifications so that you only get a notification from the google voice app.

It's not just spanish. My english translations are mindboggling, to say the least. This was one from the HR director from a cell phone company, calling re: a job offer they put out to me.
Jordan, this is why I found. Again, sorry to. I just noticed that it. It appears that you didn't Memphis celery. I can send a resume to the firing manager and everything we need to do that is that it and then tooth and if you you and we they'd he decides to selected for this position so that East dangerous give us permission to do that for me. You should be able to see it in email. Give me a call. Let me know that you are able to complete that progress. My number is (redacted). Thank shoes.
great idea to start this thread. installed gv and all setup. regarding the notifications: set gv to notify via SMS 'cause don't want an email. From a battery perspective and quickest notification is it best to let the notification only come to gv app or is SMS quicker? Just want one notifcation as soon as there's a message. Thxs

basically they are both at the same time
Hello all,
I've had my X8 for quite some time now and it is still basically stock SE. I have added some features like the dual touch plus removed Timescape and Facebook. Oddly though, when I check for updates via Android Market. Right at the bottom a Facebook icon remains but says "Free" to the right. Anyway I am having trouble with a constant chat request from a gmail.com address every time I connect to the internet.
Is there a way to permanently remove the chat request and if possible block further requests?
Regards
Pete

Do you know what is causing the message? If you could provide a screenshot it would help to understand what is causing it...
Probably its something you have installed...

Shortly after connecting to the internet the icon appears in the top left corner (Pic1)
Once I drag the top bar down I get the chat request which is always the same address (Pic2)
Unsurprisingly, a quick Google with the address shows no results.

Thats not your email..?
What does the message says... "wants to be able to..."?
Never encountered something similar before, it could be from a simple email notification to malware....

Nope, it's not my email.
It scrolls across the top when it happens and says [email protected] wants to be able to chat.
But when I pull the bar down and click on it, nothing happens.

When it first happened I thought maybe there was something, but I don't have anything apart from the odd spam email.
I think I disabled the Chat in gmail at that time, but I checked last night and there is still nothing.
It's rather puzzling.
(Additional)
After fiddling about I have found that if I disable "Background Data" then once connecting to the internet I no longer have the notification pop up.
So this must be due to an App that I've installed.
Would you be able to advise me on the best way to go about troubleshooting this?
Hi all. Was just wondering with notifications, is there anyway to view each notification in full? For example, if I get one text from one person, I can read the entire thing, but if I get 2 or more texts from the same person, they are all grouped together and you end up only seeing the first few words of the text. This is even more noticeable for whatsapp. Is there any way to solve this issue? Thanks.

It all depends on the app supporting wear
Latest couple of whatsapp versions support wear and show each individually (can even reply via voice)
I would like to see more that a title of an exchange email but I think it has something to do with exchange.
It is the same if you have a Pebble, Gear or Android Wear, with Gmail you can read the email, with exchange you can not

It all has to do with how the notification gets delivered by the app itself, nothing to do with the watch
I just got my g watch r. I really like it but it does not show any texts when I get them, just that I have a message waiting. Emails show up and I can read them, but not texts. Am I doing something wrong or does this watch simply not display texts???
the way text messages are displayed totally depends on the app you are using
I switched to evolvesms when getting my watch as it displays the whole text even for long messages, shows high quality contact pics and lets you define you own canned responses
If using the stock Samsung sms app, you need to make sure the option to display texts on the lockscreen is turned on.

thanks guys, I switched to google hangouts as my default text messaging app and it worked just fine. I was worried there for a moment!
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has encountered this nonsense issue:
When trying to send a sms or Whastapp message with ok google assistant, when you specify who you want to send it and what is the message, then the watch forces you to press the screen for send or cancel the message. Whats the use of saying everything out loud if you need to confirm the sending of the message with your finger?? If you are using voice commands it's because you cannot press the screen!
When adding a new reminder it does not do that. It shows a button with an x and a circle counter line so if you don't stop it, it will save the reminder. That really makes sense and its the way I usuallty send messages on wear 1.5.
Is it the Ok Google app?
Thanks!!
I thought it was confirming it's transcription of my message

Yes of course, but it does not make any sense to have to press the screen to send it. When talking to the watch it´s because you can not press the watch screen. For example: biking. I think some developers design and develope software that they don´t use and that´s a shame.
