Does anyone have a method to dual boot the two? Would something like having CM12.1 on the eMMC and CM11 on an SD card be feasible? Thank you. Running CWM recovery 6.0.4.6 (if I recall correctly).

Hi all, so far I am a little disappointed in CyanogenMod for 10.1 for the nook HD. The main reason I rooted the nook was so I could save apps to my SD card (8gb internal doesn't cut it). Also I have been having problems with the tablet now getting stuck in a lock screen cycle. Does anyone know how to move apps to the SD card, or why I get stuck in the lock screen cycle?

Apps2sd is not supported in CM10.1 on the HD/HD+. But you can go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash my SDswap zip for official CM10.1 and it will make it so you can have your media files on external SD by default. That will give you more room.
And the lock screen issue is probably the magnet in your case. There is a bug in CM10.1 where you must open the cover twice before the unlock will work.

Man that's disappointing. I have two users are can't fit all my apps in. Why does Cm10 not support apps2sd? I feel like that should be a standard thing.

No, CM10 or CM11 don't either. To get more room for apps, move some of your media files to external SD. That is why I suggested the swap. Media files and apps share the same limited space on emmc. And for the 8GB HD that can be tight.
And the reason apps2sd is not supported is the default sdcard (internal) is emulated and is actually a part of /data on internal. That is why it shares the same free space as apps. So it would not free any space to put apps on the emulated SD.

Problem is I don't really have any media. Its pretty much all apps. Doesn't look like the are any nook HD roms out there at all, let alone support app2sd

You have 5GB of apps installed? That's how much space you should have with no media files. You could have some big game apps that store their game data on the internal SD. Those count as media files and can be moved to external SD with the swap.

Looks like I have to be rooted to install your file. Is that true? I haven't rooted anything since, I think it was a Samsung Hero.

Well, then yes, you have to be running CM to install that file. But I have a version for stock that does not require you to be rooted. Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature.

Thanks. :good:
My Nook HD will only boot to CWM recovery.
A bit of history...
Was happily running CWM 10.2 but decided to upgrade to CWM 11. I couldn't get this to work (status 7 installation aborted). I reinstalled 10.2 and this worked fine. I then stupidly followed some instructions for installing CWM 11 when I was tired and didn't spot they were for the Galaxy Tab 2 and since then my Nook HD just boots into CWM recovery.
I'm pretty sure I have killed my device (I gave up trying to fix it a couple of months ago) but before I throw it in the bin I thought someone on here may have some bright ideas for rescuing it.
Thanks in advance for any advice
Try going to my HD/HD+ CWM thread and flash a plain stock zip from item 6.
What thread and advice did you follow?

I tried flashing a plain stock zip from item 6, it didn't change anything.
Thread was on the cyanogenmod forum. I don't appear to be able to post a link so this is the bit I stupidly followed...
Hello!
The "error 7" message was in my case coused by an old version of CWM.
There is already a topic about it under Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 p5110.
This is what you could try to do:
- download the newest version of CWM at this link : **link deleted as forum won't let me post links but it was CWM for a Galaxy Tab2 10.1**
- install this package and reboot
- note : this is not the touch version of CWM so you have to use the power and volume buttons to use this type of CWM
- download the newest CM 11 and put it on your EXTERNAL SD CARD
- download if you use it the newest GAPPS for KK to your EXTERNAL SD CARD
- go into recovery mode
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik cache
- install CM 11
- install the GAPPS if you use it
- reboot
This solved my "error 7" problem and also for some others with this error.
Thanks for looking.
So what did you do? Install the CWM from that thread?

Then you may have bricked it. Did it say it installed correctly?
The problem is the Galaxy Tab 2 uses a different partition for recovery than the Nook HD. Whoever made that zip must have failed to put a safety assert statement in it to prevent users from trying to flash it to the wrong device.
I will try to find the thread to see if the zip was bad and where it tried to install it on your nook. Do you have any more clues for me to the link?

I can't remember what happened when I installed it, sorry.
The thread is called Unable To Install Cm11 and it's in the Barnes & Noble Nook HD Stable/RC/M-Release section
On XDA? Type the link with extra spaces in it and I can find it.

Ok, found the file you flashed and looked at it. It put the recovery image where your bootdata partition is supposed to be and wiped out bootdata. I made a bootdata repair zip and sent you a PM with the link. Try flashing that with your CWM. It may recover your bricked device. Let me know.

Is it possible to install CM 10.2 on SD card for Nook HD?. i would like to run CM off SD card without touching the stock rom.
I have seen a few very old threads with older versions of CM and thought there maybe a easy way to accomplish this task?
perhaps a img file that i can burn to SD card and boot?
TIA

Go to this thread. It still works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063968
The only problem is it is CM10.1, not CM10.2. The author promised a CM10.2 version for the HD but did not deliver.

Thank you for the link leap. I think i saw that one and noticed it was 10.1 and that the builds are not "official" CM builds
I thought it maybe possible to burn one of that official builds to SD card and boot of it..
TIA

I hesitate to suggest it but verygreen has an unofficial CM11 install for SD (HD+ only) in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600572. Its not been updated since January 18, but I've been running it as my daily driver since then and its provided the most stable experience I've ever had on the HD+, as well as the snappiest with ART enabled. I've been running it from a Sandisk 16gb class 4 microsd and I used the Mini PA GAAPs that was current at the time. On EMMC I've previously used various versions of stock, CM 10.1, and CM 10.2. I currently have rooted stock on EMMC. The SD includes Cyanoboot and you can elect to boot from SD or EMMC at boot time without rebuilding the cache.

I am sure this is answered a hundred times but I cant find one. What procedure do I use to make a kit kat rom that will dual boot on a Nook HD+. I dont want to root the emmc just be able to insert a SD and have a chioce of nook or KitKat.
Thanks
Yes you can do that. Go to verygreen's CM11 emmc thread and if you read through the first post you will see he has included a version that will run off SD. See here:
