[Q] Lollipop mixerpaths for headphone boost on moto x - please! - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone help me with this?
I want to purchase a moto x 2014. I know I can change the region to uk to bypass the safety warning, etc but the headphone volume is still too low.
Yes, I probably have hearing damage lol.
Can anyone confirm if editing the mixerpaths on a rooted, pure edition will work?
I don't want to get the nexus 6 (too big for my delicate hands) but the volume is simply too low for me.
I really appreciate any help/confirmation.

41 views and no one has a rooted moto x that can confirm this?

Perhaps if you explained what the process for "editing the mixerpaths" is and what you would like tested. Generally, if the phone is rooted, then that type of modification might work.

Thanks.
I just need to know if you can edit and save the headphone volume. On most phones, the volume is "84" or something. I just want to know if it's possible to open the mixerpaths.xml file and adjust the headphone output to "92" or something and save it to boost the output of the headphone jack.

I can confirm I see the file and it is writable with root access.

Disable vibration when unlocking through active notifications?

Does anyone know of a fix or app that will disable vibration (and haptic feedback universally across the phone) when unlocking through active notifications?
I love the moto x, but the way it vibrates all the time really annoys me. Friggin hate how OEMs force that into the ROMs. Thanks for any help. You all rule.
2d
Anyone have an idea?

There is no way to remove the vibration from active notification
Sent from my XT1058 using xda app-developers app
I had the phone when it first came out and the vibration used to drive me crazy. I will say I picked it up the other day and with the KITKAT update the vibration is now barely noticeable.
It really drives me nuts too. I loathe haptic response. It just makes a slick phone feel stupid.
I'm thinking there has to be some kind of app that will override system wide haptic control. I just am unaware of it. Does anyone know of an app like that? I am rooted.

I'm thinking more like modifying the apk to disable this. Haven't looked at it yet.

The problem for me is that it's a Republic Wireless Moto X and I don't believe the build for it has been released or is even in the wild. If it was, getting an altered version would be my top priority.
Coming from a rooted, unlocked, CM 10.2 running LG Optimus G, having something that can't be disabled is REALLY annoying.
Thanks for the comments. If anyone knows of an app or anything else related to this, I'd be super appreciative.

I hear ya....I have the RW one too. I've never had an un-rooted Android device before. Took me a while to figure out why there were ads on stuff! I never saw them before. LOL Hopefully we'll get a safe, easy, reversible root soon, and I get get ad-blocking and Titanium Backup back!

Root exist. JCase's works just fine, and exactly as described. While I haven't checked I'm pretty sure the same reverse unroot process works on it as well. Haven't checked though.
Hopefully Motorola fixes it themselves, but a nice custom stock rom would be really nice as well. Just needs to be RW specific as they have their wifi portion hard written into the system.

[Q] A few questions about the Moto X

Just curious if anyone here on AIO Wirelss have conditional call forwarding setup on their AIOP Wireless device. I am switching from Sprint, to come to AIO, and do not want to use the AIO voicemail app
Can someone post their settings if they do know how to set it up, I have been a GVoicemail user for years and don't want to give that up
Also can the AIO wireless VM app be disabled or removed, if I have a none branded Moto X device, I'm not going to root this device, please advise thanks.
Damn, I can't believe not one person with a Moto X is using Google Voicemail ??
You just set voicemail up in the settings of the phone app ad well as in the Google voice app and online in Google voice.

Just to be sure, go to Settings/Calls/Call Forward, and over write the AIO number VM, to my GV number ?? That will only forward calls to GV voicemail, and not all calls to go through GV ??
I finally got the phone, and just noticed it does not have an LED light when charging, looks like that option can only be attained if rooted ??
I assume there is no way to adjust the resolution of a picture taken, you figure that would be something basic with a camera, what was Google thinking ?? who wants to always take a 10 MP picture, to big to email when need to email a bunch of pictures.

OK, another quick question, just received the notification for the 4.4.2 update, should I take it, or should I wait. Are there any issues, if I take this update will I be able to root if I decide to do so down the rood ?? Any feedback, I did some reading and seem to be getting mixed reviews. I will be on AIO wireless at the end of the month and from what I read I will need this update for proper MMS receiving.

If you purchased it through Sprint I believe you can get your bootloader unlock code for free anytime from the Moto website. It will void the warranty though. So root is available anytime.

No, it is not a Sprint device, I am on Sprint right now with my current Note II, I purchased the Moto X New AT&T branded and unlocked, so just want to make sure before I update it, I have not activated the device, will do so at end of month with AIO.

When you say unlocked you mean the Dev edition? Or carrier/sim unlocked?
If it is not the dev edition I would not update to 4.4.2 if you want root at any point in the future. You need to go through a method from 4.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/orig-development/4-4-root-slapmymoto-1-0-motowpnomo-t2538896

Not Dev edition, Carrier Sin Unlocked. OK, I will wait until I activate my device to AIO and see if I get the MMS, if not then I will either root or take the update, but I am on 4.4 right now, so does that make a difference, or am I too late on rooting on 4.4, if I am too late them I might as well update ??

4.4 is fine. You can still downgrade to 4.2 for the root method, after that though it is not available.

Well I guess not available for now, but might be available down the road,
Still on the fence for updating though, I still have not taken the update, and still not sure I will need to root my device, I have always been rooted on most of my devices for the past years, but I really am not sure if I still need to be rooted, since I really don't tether, and using root apps are just for that, for the purpose of being rooted, LOL anyways, I am still on the fence.

I keep tether for emergencies mostly and Exposed.
A few more questions.
1) is it possible to sideload the Samsung Keyboard ?? without being rooted, is there such a thing or Keyboard.
2) Has anyone on AIO wireless been able to get tethering to work ?? without ROOT

Another thing I get being on AIO wireless is every now and then I get echo feedback often when my buddy calls me from his Sprint device, and I only have the echo. Any clue what is causing this and how to resolve other then hanging up and calling back. ?

Vibration extremely weak on watch

Hey guys,
I am missing a lot of vibration alerts because it's so weak I barely feel it. Do you have the same issues or did I get a defective watch? I came from pebble I could feel the vibration easily. With this watch I hardly feel it. Even the alarm is pretty weak.

I came on here just to find this thread. I came from a pebble and had no issues with vibration. I had the zenwatch for a day and the vibration was defective and didn't work at all. Now the Watch R and its super weak.
I hope if and when kernel source drops we can modify it to increase the vibration power a bit.
Well I'm both sad and happy it's the watch and I agree on the next patch I hope to have that option my hopes is in the lollipop android wear release.
Strange, I feel all my vibrations. Maybe your band is too loose?
Yep I tightened it up, it's now only a little soft and I catch most of them now.. I still wish I could make it a little more powerful
Dont need the kernel, only root to modify the vibration time.
Nice, I don't think I will be the first tester of that lol

Didn't think of that, well we can unlock and install twrp i think perhaps. I may need to adjust the resolution, but I think I can make something work for us and get the vibrate time increased. The Pulse needs to be just a flat long vibrate, instead of two short ones.
Agreed, the two short is not long enough. I would be interested to see twrp on this watch.
Okay good news, I have located the files that need to be modified in order to increase the amp power.
We need to edit /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/amp and /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/driving_ms
I am assuming the driving_ms file is how long it vibrates for in MS, the current value is 20.
I tried to change it, but alas I need permission and I need to be root
The regular g watch people change the values to 50-80 and 115-175 respectively.
Our amp level is actually already at 80 and the regular g watch people are around 50 -85.
I am going to try to figure out how to root this and will post back later. I have exams all next week so I will definitely get this figured out for us before year end hopefully. Looks like all I need to do is make a rooted boot img essentially following this guide since I have the boot.img I think I can root this sucker in a matter of minutes. OFC bootloader unlock is needed. Stay tuned guys.
Awesome and goodluck!

Increase Speaker/Headphone Volume

It's a pretty common fact now that compared to most other smart phones, the Droid Turbo volume just does not get very loud, in fact it's rather quiet. I'm not looking to blow out my ears, but I'd like to be able to comfortably hear who I'm speaking with on the phone (w/o distortion), and having sufficient (it's at least a few notches lower than my previous iphone 5s) volume through the headphones is absolutely essential for me as the music player is the most important part of the phone for me, aside from call/text. How do I increase the volume? I believe it can be found in the build script, but it seems a little more in-depth than other phones. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

My wife called me the other day. She was so loud that I was able to put it on my lap and both me and my daughter could hear her. I didn't even have to use the speaker phone.
Anyone else?
When there is any sort of natural noise from outside or out in the public, it is noticeably quieter than any smartphone I've had, other than the 2013 moto x, so it seems to be a modern Motorola thing. I know this is an easy fix for someone who is informed. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Nobody has an answer because there is no fix. Root is needed to modify volumes past stock.
Turn off audio effects for headphone. Place speaker grille (not glass) at the middle of your ear when talking. Use custom ringtones for increased volume if the stock ones aren't loud enough.
I personally find it all to be plenty loud.

Could it be the call privacy settings?
Phone -> Settings -> Voice Privacy (mine is set to off)
Settings -> Sound -> Audio Effects (should be off)
I personally think that the phone is too quiet as well.. Definitely doesn't pass the shower test. I should be able to hear my phone playing music over the sound of the shower and the bathroom fan at the same time - I can't.
I went through multiple replacements for this issue. Evidently, the new unit I received (assembled 12/15/14) does not exhibit a volume problem. I think there is an issue with many of the units out in the wild, but it is unclear if there will be/can be a software fix without root. For those with defective devices, no amount of settings changes to the stock software seem to work. I would contact Verizon wile you have the opportunity to do so. Keep in mind, however, that you are opening a can of worms. It might take a few replacements to get one with better volume.

extra volume for speaker is optional.

This works better than any other volume app I've ever seen, may be an alternative for you:

There is also a dedicated (Earpiece) sound boost app from this developer.

Just install Viper or something like that, Lots of flash-able zips for you to flash.
Then open up the one you want i.e. Headphones, Speaker etc and increase the GAIN
For those who do not have root permissions, no hope?
No
