Hello! I have an AT&T Galaxy S5 running android 5.0. I recently found a very nice looking lockscreen(echo) and would like to be able to use it with my phone. I need encryption to be on so that if the phone is off, it cannot be accessed without the password, but I would like to disable this password once it is booted so that I can only use my other lockscreen app and not have to swipe twice to unlock my phone(currently I have it so the password is enabled after one hour, but I want it to not even have the swipe lock). Is it possible to do this?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post, I am trying to abide by the regulations of this forum. If I make an error please don't trip out, but let me know.
I have a HTC One M7 Phone,
It Is running Jellybean android.
I have discovered twice now that if you encrypt the phone, the option to have a pattern lock is removed and grayed out, Your forced to choose another lock method, in my case a PIN.
The only way I have managed to resolve this is by decrypting the phone, This phone can only be Decrypted via a factory reset.
I have tried again now. Phone is encrypted, and again I have been forced to change my login method, And the option to choose pattern lock is Grayed out.
I have contacted HTC Support regarding this issue and unfortunately they are unable to understand my question correctly.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can give regarding how I can have an encrypted phone with a pattern lock.
Kind Regards
Daniel
Okay - I searched and have yet to find an answer - if this is a repeat I have missed, I apologize. Here goes.
On my T-Mo N4 5.0.1, I would like to encrypt the device but do not want to be tethered to a password (long story). The PIN mode for screen unlock is what I desire. Without rooting and running a custom ROM, is there anyway to modify the security policy to allow the PIN mode to be used with an encrypted device?
I tried encrypting it after reading somewhere else you can change to PIN once it is done (requires password or fingerprint for initial setup). The understanding was that you would have to input a password on bootup but after that screen unlocks could be done via the PIN. This was not the case and would not let me change after encryption. Decrypted, I have my options back. This is the security policy at play.
I am sure its somehow possible. My Nexus 9 tablet is encrypted (had no choice in the matter - how it came from factory) and allows any unlock method you want, so long as one is used.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Just an update in case it helps anyone understand this better - still could use some help!
Had to do a factory reset on my Nexus 9 tablet thanks to a botched OTA update. It is forced encryption and does NOT force you to set any sort of unlock method. While I agree that is lousy security, it makes me really think this is policy based which leads me to believe it can be changed somewhere on the note 4. Thoughts?
I encrypted my S6A but it forced me to use a password (6char+some numbers) at first I thought this was to unlock it upon restart, but it requires the password whenever I want to unlock it. I factory reset it to see if that would help but it won't let me set just a pin if I enable encryption. Entering the password each time is extremely annoying to say the least.
Has anyone figured out how to enable encryption and use the pin unlock instead of a password? My Xperia tablet allows it so I know it's not a lollipop limitation...
Looks like it's a Samsung limitation. 3 Samsung tablets (Note 8, Tab 4 and Tab S2) require the stupid long 6char+numbers password for encrypted devices.
Ridiculous
Hey guys,i have an s4 and i recently changed my phone´s lock screen method and from pattern to pin. Even know i know my pin code i am unable to unlock the phone. Is there any way of bypass it? PS: My phone is connected to wi fi and to my google account but the option´´forgotten password´´is not on the bottom of the scree. Also my phone is rooted. How can i unlock it without deleting all my data.
Hey,
Yesterday night probably my p30 pro got an overnight update. This morning the only option to me for unlocking the lock screen was the pin option. I tried many times my pin but i get an incorrect pin error. Anyone to suggest any solution? I don't want to wipe my data
Hey again,
I found the solution on my side. After the update the lock screen pin was replaced with another's app password (bank app screen password in my case). In order to be able to try many different passwords you are using to access different apps on phone and bypass waiting time :
Solution
1) Find old android phone and format it
2)Set up the old phone and use the gmail account you have on your p30 pro.
3) Select to restore from gmail and it will ask for lock screen password.
4) You can try many different passwords without waiting and when the password is accepted you can use it to unlock you are p30 pro.
