N7 3G No Longer Unlocked?

Currently the Google Play Store is listing the Nexus 7 3G with a AT&T Logo...

Does this mean the N7 w/ 3G will be locked to AT&T, and not available as an Unlocked Device? I certainly hope not!

Okay, Scratched that... Contacted Google Device Support (Actually Got an Intelligent Person this time) and they informed that it will be unlocked, and AT&T is only listed to let buyers know AT&T Service can be used on the Device. (and he hinted at a possible AT&T Data Only plan for the N7)

Scared me too...
but with my experience with Google Support is they are often wrong...

YOu can't even select it now. For me it takes me to a page where it says, "The page doesn't exist on this server" or something.

Remove the _att from the end of the link.

strangely enough the canadian version of those pages don't have that issue. In canada (and likely UK and so on too) it's still the old "unlocked" thing in the selection and it works like it used to with the american before the change.

It is available for sale yet? Neither _att or without it works with a purchase link .

The links are fixed now, but they're out of stock I think.

They haven't started selling yet, so it's not really OOS. Also, I've seen them change the links twice now. It's still slightly broken (ie: if you click on AT&T then 3G again, it gives you an error message about not available in your country).
Any second now.....and it should go on sale......hopefully....

It looks like they already sold out, I managed to get in an order of the Nexus 7 w/ the ATT Sim Card, but the device said 'unlocked'. The strange thing is, if you're on the page where it gives the description of the Nexus 7 3G + ATT Sim Page, if you scroll down, you'll see a 3rd Card that lists "Nexus 7 + WIFI + HSPA" w/o the ATT Logo and if you click that one I see that it's "Not available in your country"...

Confirmed. Just got a promo mail from Google
" Nexus 7 comes with an optional no-contract SIM card from AT&T so you can get started with mobile data service right out of the box."

T-Mobile Nexus 4 Is the Unlock GSM version

I have buyed my nexus 4 today. and i noticed that it doesn't have any t-mobile logo on it... So i asked my brother to let me test its AT&T sim card on it... and it got reception and 4g conection. so it is open.... :laugh:

the real question is if the T-Mobile sold ones are on a different IMEI block... ie do the Play Store sold ones have tzones/web2go capability

There is no T-Mobile Version. End of story.

Question: What about the builds? I know the Galaxy Nexus had takju, and yakju, and all that sorta stuff.
Is the Tmobile build the same as the Play Store build? They'll be the first to get updates too when updates roll out? Sorry if this is a newbie questions.

Classic plan is $199 + tax and shipping (if online) Value is $199 down, plus $20 a month for 24 months. Im in Cali, Im about to order mines through T-Mobile next week, I have a full upgrade line that will cost $278.41. I dont know why people are buying from Google. You can just call T-Mobile and make up a story that youre leaving the country for a few weeks and would like to unlock it for free. Plus, T-Mobile has the best service right now with their unlimited plan (non throttled) why not use an upgrade???

I bought from tmo @$349 for an upgrade. It wasn't even my time to upgrade so.... Im really happy!!! Since in their web page said $499... Only bad thing was the upgrade. Plus insurance...

[Q] How long does AT&T hold exclusive for Moto X?

As title, does anyone know how long is AT&T holding the exclusive Moto maker this time? I was planning to order for t-mobile and got blocked off by it
can't really wait much longer on the phone almost tempted just go to back to the 2013 model instead......

You can only do that for 16gb but not 32 as of now

I know MotoMaker goes live for Verizon on Friday. Maybe T-Mobile sometime soon.

the pure version is the tmobile. it sounds like they are still out of the 32g. try a white face with 32gb option. and then go back to black. that was working a few days ago. to answer the question... there was no exclusive for at&t at all. the tmo/pure edition was available from the start and verizon is always the last to get their version in, it is cdma.

A little of topic but I wanted to pick up a screen protector today and Verizon said the phone doesn't exist, AT&T (my service provider) said they don't carry it. Best Buy was like "what?" and Radio Shack said they only have accessories for newer phones. I don't think there's an exclusion on it.

You could get 32 last week. They are sold out for now... must be too popular. As with the first-gen X, there is no T-mo specific model, jsust unlocked (why would you want anything else?). I'm holding out a few weeks - hopefully news of the new Nexus will give me another option.

still no luck as of today, I guess it's just out of stock for now.

Excellent. The only other person besides myself in the world with this variant. I have posted the the boot.img,recovery.img, and build.prop in another thread to have a custom recovery made, but havent heard anything back yet.

I too am having an issue finding anything for this phone. Not to tech savvy myself but I'm sure something will come soon. Black Friday at Walmart sold a ton of these phones so I'm sure it won't be long.

I too snagged this phone at Walmart on Black Thursday right after a hearty meal of turkey and all the fixin's lol. So far, all I've been able to really accomplish on this device is to root it with KingRoot, replace KingRoot with SuperSU and enable tethering. We really do need a custom recovery for this variant. A permissive kernel would be nice too.

I bought one of these phones from black Friday online from Wal-mart the Straight Talk model but online it shows S920C instead of S920L.... Does anyone know the difference?

I have a SM-S920L(As screenshot above) and i bought from Best buy and it is locked to Tracfone. I called to cell representative and he told me that it can be unlock after 1 year of use.

When trying to update the software from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1 it says update temperarally unavailable I called Samsung and there is an update but for some reason I can't get it anyone else have this problem?

I've read somewhere that in order to update you have to get a new SIM card from Straight talk. I myself haven't test this theory so if anyone is able to update after doing so, please post your results for the rest of us.

I read the same just was wondering if there was another way thanks for the info.

If you do find another way let us know. Seems like a pain just to get an update.

So I talked to straight talk and they said that the ota issue don't qualify for a sim replacement. Not to sure how the other people got there's but they refuse to send me one. I will be doing more research to find another way. They also claim that 5.0.2 is the latest version for the phone but the others that have had the sim replaced have 5.1.1

I haven't seen mention of any SM-S920L's on 5.1.1.

This variant is the LTE version. In other words, it's already unlocked. You should be able to put pretty much any SIM in.

Does this mean that LTE phones are unlocked? I always thought it was just a type of 4g just a bit faster

After further research I have found that 5.0.2 is the latest for the phone so I am assuming that the others that had this and claim it was fixed with new sim was probably just the timing of the update being available and was only to 5.0.2.

After getting the phone in hand it's indeed a S920L and not a S920C as shown on the Wal-Mart website

Is there anyway to change the APN settings on this phone? Just got it today and i am unable to get picture messages from people i was previously getting them from with my old phone/sim. Thanks!

If its a straight talk phone you should be able to go to the Straight Talk website and get the APN APN or VPN whatever you need other than that I don't know

Nope, no way to change it. It's a CDMA/LTE phone on Verizon Wireless.

I have to say this is an awesome phone. I'm using straight talk with TWRP Recovery and Turbos Rom

Only if you order direct from Samsung, where they'll send you the phone and the bonuses together. Otherwise, you need the phone in hand as you have to send the your phone's IMEI and MAC address. Plus I believe the easiest way to get the promo is to sign into the promo app from your Note 8 which automates a lot of the application.

I ordered the Note 8 and had to call ecommerc (1-855-254-4747) to confirm the extras, and was told that even though I ordered it online, I still also have to wait for the phone to be in my hands in order to complete the registration using the Samsung account and filling in the Note 8's IMEI. I also asked if I could just log into any Note 8 and use that IMEI, but they need the one tied to the order or it will be rejected (I tried haha).
SO.. The extras promo is handled just like carrier / retailers. Samsung.can orders aren't automatically filled. We will have to wait for the physical phones complete the promo registration from pending to completed and then wait for them to ship.

Thanks. The first thing that I'll do is install the app and order the extras. Then it'll probably take a month to get them.
