Hi, all˜!
I have rooted my Chromecast. I found the configure file: /data/eureka/apps.conf . Could I change the source of default app to local url, and make cc need not connect to internet?

You can try, if it doesn't work change it back
It won't work unless you have the apps at the location you point the device to....

Soft Data Cable from the Market is an awesome app to wirelessly tether your phone to your computer without mounting the SD card to the Computer. It's simple and easy to use and makes a great way to get rid of tethering to transfer, music, movies, files, or anything else you need to get back and forth. Create a shortcut on your desktop to the FTP address for one click access on the computer as well as the phone!
Ill give it a try.

...but it isn't compatible with wifi tethering apps (which is my only source of internet).

tried it out and works great. you can even browse in the root directory if you enable that option. my only problem was finding it in the market because it is listed as software data cable.
Sorry to bump, does this require, and will it work on a Transform?

Hi all,
Has anyone had luck with the lan connection in File Manager HD, from your Xoom to your PC? I have a shared folder on my PC from which I would like to transfer some pictures to my Xoom. I"m missing something as the connection fails. The permissions on the PC are right, I believe. Do I need to enable an FTP or smb server on my win 7 laptop? I need the abillity for wifi transfers to and from my zoom so any other app recommendations are appreciated.
TIA,
Jim

I don't have problems with SMB transfer from both File Manager HD nor ES File Explorer... usually, the key is the login credentials... you'll probably have to check the settings in your Desk pc (maybe firewall too)... as long they're correct and you're in the same LAN, it should not be a problem
(it could be much faster, but at least it works...)
Now I'm using File Expert on my Zoom and an FTP client on my Win7 machine. I'm still trying to get FM HD to work. I've tried every networking trick I know and that is quite. A few.
I'll post back here as soon as I do.

I am using ES File Manager and the obvious needed checking, IP Address (check), LOGON credentials (I forgot I had to log on to the PC so Username and Password)(check). I have my D:\ shared in Windows so maybe that is the missing link ?
I get a connection and all the folders that show up are empty. The folder names, however, are correct.

This means that you have to edit the connection and put in your log in information

Ok here's the thing. I cant access certain websites(mostly filesharing sites) due to my country's 'anti piracy policy'. Researched, n found out that they do it by manipulating the DNS. I can access them using my PC by changing the connection setting protocol n stop using auto dns server. I changed the preferred DNS server to Google's.
Then,is there any way i can do it in my O2X? Coz i prefer to get online using my fone rather than pc.
If anyone know how to do it,can u guide me step by step please? Really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Btw im running CM7 RC1 with latest vork kernel. Bb 606 Ril 606.

It's easy for WiFi (advanced settings) but for mobile network connection this is the only method I know of:

VPN app
Do you try using a VPN app? Just try a free one such as KUKU VPN+ search it on google play and check out if you can access to blocked sites.
Code:

hello guys me question is
I want to disconnect app from internet (wifi+3g)
In short I want to run the app offline how can I ??
If you have rooted phone, you can use some app from g play store...
I have avast! mobile security installed - it has firewall included and successfully block/allow internet access for apps i want to.
I think you can use titanium back up or other like application to break market link or stop being connected to internet.

I wonder if this will work. I got the app installed, but my main stuck point in the set it downloading the firefox extension.

I haven't tried this yet but I have tried other bluetooth like tethering apps and it almost always crashes as if there is some library missing on the gear that it needs.
I was able to get the app installed and running on both devices. No success with internet sharing though...

Part of the issue is that open garden requires proxies in Firefox. Sadly you cannot access the settings to manually configure them. OG does have an auto add but only if you can access the internet.:banghead:
