I was just wondering if someone could give me a restore of their phone. Fresh, not fresh it doesn't matter. My system partition just up and disappeared, and I'm trying to get it working again. Strange thing is, this happened once before.

Hi...I am hoping for an answer here. I have searched everywhere. I don't know if it even matters or why I should really care to do this but I am new to this and it seems I should. I am rooted and running 1.1 update with the stock eclair and have tried to run a Nandroid backup with clockwork, but it stops at "can't mount /system". Can anybody tell me why? or How to make the backup? One answer I saw referred to Gingerbread and EXT4 incompatibility with version 3.0.0.5, but I am in eclair and am running CWM 3.0.1.0.
Also do you really think I need to back up? I have a TiBU for my apps and sys data. I figure if anything goes really wrong I know I can always just redo from stock, just some more wasted time. I guess I am basically asking if there is any real advantage to do a CWM backup anyway at the stage I am at, beside just playing around?
Thanks in advance for any help
From what I understand you get that error until you flash the kernel that came with that recovery. I had the same error until I flashed this zip made by mistar muffin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971197&page=21 its the recovery and kernel in 1.
I always nandroid backup, just in case.
I'm stuck in a bootloop and cant figure out a way to boot directly into CWR 3.0.1.0. I tried a few different combinations thinking it would be like the N button and the power but have had no luck. HELP!!!
Still need help? Please
Thanks fro your attempt to help. I flashed 3.0.1.0 from Muffin, but still get backup error, can't mount/system. I have searched for hours for an answer, but there is nothing around about this. Am i the only one with this problem, except previous reply. It doesn't make any sense. I even restored to stock, updated to 1.1 and rerooted, so I would have the simplest system. Still same result. Can anybody help? Thanks
nevermind
Don't know why, but I asked ROM manager to backup and it worked. SO if anyone else ever has this issue maybe this will help.
Hi all,
I have been trolling through all the forums on the GT-I9300T then the 9305T, and found so far a heap of tips and tricks for tweaking my phone.
I've been happily Rooting and ROMing my 9305T for a month now all without issue. What I've noticed is that with each ROM i put on my phone, it accumulates more files, folders and other legacy junk from the previous ROM. Do that over four ROM's and you get the idea...
So i thought i would restore from backup, my factory ROM which i have on internal and external SD. Unfortunately the restore came up with an error saying it was missing a file during the data backup (The Boot, Cache etc. all restored without a hitch) so it went into a boot loop...
I got out of the boot loop OK, installed the correct factory ROM form SamMobile and all is well. The phone works and everything is intact, but i now have a lot of junk on my phone I'd like to get rid of to restore it to the day i bought it. With my backup image not working can a full wipe and re-install be done to accomplish this?
So sorry for having to ask ... I have managed to get my One (ATT) version stuck in a boot loop. I cannot seem to find anything to restore from in CWM and the only thing on the SD card currently is the custom ROM I was attempting to flash ... I really don't know how to fix this, if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. I did some searching around and haven't found a solution to my specific problem, even though others have soft bricked theirs, it seems their fix was much more simple than mine.
I'd love to help, can you explain what rom you were flashing and what went wrong? Did it get stuck in aroma installer?
You should always perform a nandroid backup before doing anything for future reference.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was flashing Android Revolution HD. However, when it was complete I attempted to use Titanium Backup to restore my contacts etc. Apparently the ROM didn't like some of the things I attempted to restore as it conflicted. Like Blink Feed didn't work any longer, just a blank screen where it once was. I decided I would try and re-load the rom again via CWM and went through the wipe process. However, before I went through that I believe I accidentially unrooted the phone by selecting fastboot? Before I got into recovery. Now, if I try to re-load Android Revolution ROM .zip via CWM, it will become unresponsive halfway through the installation. I am pretty sure CWM re-rooted my phone for me as I saw a message asking if I would like to do so and I selected yes. So as of now, I'm just stuck and unaware of what I need to do to fix it =(
Hey people,
Maybe this is a newb issue and I'm just being dense, but I've searched around and can't really find anyone with a solution for this...
A couple of days ago I flashed my phone to Eragon, and no longer had root privileges. I've been on a couple of AOSP variants, and most recently Viper and Insert Coin, all 4.3 ROMS. Never had a problem with root before.
So I tried to reinstall SuperSU, even manually deleted the files and reflashed through TWRP, then deleted again and tried to install through the Play store. Upgraded TWRP from 2.6.0.0 to 2.6.3.0, tried to reflash Eragon and Sky Dragon again(with full wipe if course), even restored the TWRP nandroid I had made, but still no root!
I've got a Sprint One, unlocked but still S-ON.
Any help would be appreciated...

Ok so never mind, apparently I fixed it somehow between flashing viperboy's old "Sprint disable write protection" and attempting RUU to 1.29.651.7, then restoring ViperROM 3.1 nandroid. Don't know what happened, just works now. Thanks for taking the time to read this(if you did, which of course you would know, by the time you get to this sentence).

Yesterday, I don't know how, my phone went into bootloop. I tried a lot of possible solutions, but nothing worked, so I decided to restore an old backup. However, before doing this, I did a backup of the rom in bootloop, because there were some important data in it. Now, I wonder if there is a way to recover these data. Do you know if it is possible and how I can do it?
