All,
For some reason, I cannot get my HTC One connected to my MacbookPro Retina. I could in the past with my S3, but my new HTC One, I can't. I have android file transfer installed and even installed the HTC Sync Manager. I have USB Debugging checked also.
Every time I try to connect, the Android File Sync Manager starts, a folder to install HTC Sync Manager pops up, but AFSM don't show any folders at all.
Any pointers? Yes, I restarted the mac, the one multiple times, I uninstalled and reinstalled the AFSM 2x also.
Thanks!
Found out what the problem was...it was the USB cable? Isn't all USB cable the same? Why do I need the cable supplied by HTC?

Have you tried several other 3rd party cables?
I connected my HTC one to my 13' retina with other 3rd party cables and it recognized them normally. (one that came with a S3 and another cheap one for 5 bucks**)
Though it's not too uncommon for few manufacturer's cables to have compatibility issues
**my cheapo cable cannot keep a steady connection due to it's cheapo-ness.
NEVER BUY CHEAP
I'm new to the Atrix HD, but have been around since the OG Droid (followed by a Droid 2, Droid 4, then Galaxy Nexus). I just picked up an Atrix HD for the first time.
USB works for fastboot - Windows 7 recognizes it, fastboot shows USB connected.
If phone is turned off, and connect USB to PC, phone boots up.
If phone is turned off, and connect USB to power adapter, it will charge.
Once booted into android, USB does not work at all. I've tried 2 different cables (both of which work to power it when connected to the wall charger) and 2 different physical machines across 3 different OS's - all with the same result. Once in Android, USB is not recognized. Nothing happens, no indication in the OS that a device is even detected.
I've tried RSD back to stock - but this did not resolve the issue.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Weird... Which Recovery are you using? Also, when did this problem started? Did you formated any partition? Any new ROM?

It was completely stock - OS and recovery.
I purchased it off ebay, so - I'm not sure when it started. I've been in contact with the buyer, and he said he never tried connecting to a PC.
With that being said, I was able to get it to work on my mac with a Nook cable. Same cable will not work in on my laptop in Win 7 or in Fedora 20 for this phone.
While not ideal, I was able to get the phone to it's desired state by using the mac (CWM recovery and CM11 ROM). After changing to CWM and CM11, phone exhibits same behavior still on Win 7 and Fedora when using a generic or genuine OEM Motorola cable (came with my Droid 4) as well as using the cables on the Mac. The only way it works is with the Nook cable on the Mac. Using the OEM or generic while attached to a wall adapter, the phone does charge.
The only thing I can think of with the Nook cable is that the connector is slightly longer than a typical USB adapter. I'm not sure why this works as I can not see any damage to the phone's USB socket.

This is really weird. But I think this is a hardware issue, even when the port may not show any signs of abuse or something like that. If you connect the OEM Motorola cable to the Mac, does it works? If it doesn't, it's very likely to be hardware issue. Also, you got it from Ebay, that's suspicious... Any way, another thing that you can do is download all Motorola drivers for Windows and try with a ton of USB cables.
Stupid question, but what exactly are you trying to do with it? And do you have USB debugging enabled?

Charging would be a good start, but file xfer would be nice too. I've tried with USB debugging both disabled and enabled.
I bought the Tronsmart Data Cables USB-C to USB-A knowing the cable that came with the box was only a charging cable. But still my computer won't recognize my Mi 5 64Gb. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have also installed the MI PC Suite. Still failing.

MiSuite is useless for now, as this thing doesn't support Android 6.
Just connect the phone with a cable to the Computer. I use the Xiaomi Mi4c cable, the original mi 5 is still in the box but both work to transfer data!
All you have to do is:
-Connect the phone to the pc with Usb C to A
-Change the connection mode from "Use USB for Charging only" to "Use USB for Transfer files (MTP)"
Uh and could you please explain the difference between a USB C to USB A charging cable and a USB C to USB A data-transfer cable? The more details you add the better. I am specially curious about the wires inside of the cable, like the difference between a charging and data cable, by the means of wire connection. (I have never heard of such a thing.)
I have tried doing that but it seems Windows is not installing the drivers for Mi 5 thus getting a "device could not be recognized.
Working great now. Had to change USB ports and used the ones at the rear of my desktop. Thanks!

mine has the same problem with you..
when connected Mi 5 to PC, Mi 5 is not displaying "Charging Only" or "MTP" Option. My PC (Win 7) says "Device is not Recognized".
I've tried uninstalling Mi PC Suite and another ADB program, and changing usb port, the problem is stills..
How do you fix it?
I had the same problem. But changing to a different USB-port on my computer solved it. Check if you have any native USB3 ports on your mobo.
I had the same issue on my Win8 computer (usb2 plugs only) . But it connected perfect on my wife's win7 computer (usb3 plugs)
I finished getting it connected by validating USB debug and waiting very long for driver installation.
USB3 versus USB2 , why not.
Its Not USB2 vs USB3 as I am getting it connected on my Laptop with only USB2 ports but Can't connect on my PC with USB2/USB3 ports while my S7 connects perfectly. I dunno why this is happening and still seeking solution. PTP mode and USB tethering mode works fine though. Just MTP mode connection gets the Yellow triangle and device listing under other devices in my windows device manager.
Install the software driver of the pc and connect as mtp
Dont work anything
I change it to MTP but it comes back by itself to charging mode wtf
Go to device manager after connecting usb to phone
In portable devices, you will find your device along with a caution sign
Double click on your device
Go to driver tab
Then click on update driver
Then click on "Browse my computer..."
Then click on "Let me pick..."
Select MTP USB Device
Install this driver and then your phone will be detected by your computer
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.

Hello.
My Zenfone 4 (ZE554KL) is updated at WW_ZE554KL_15.0405.1803.99 and Android 8.0. My usb cable is not being detected by any Windows 7 computers. I've tried with 3 different computers, no "Unknown devices" at devices manager, it's only charging.
Any ideas what this can be?
Thanks.
Title says my problem, I can access a flash drive through other just fine but if I plug my phone into my computer I get a descriptor error. I have tried 3 cables and two computers and nothing has helped
Well, now when I plug it in windows can see it fine and otg still works. I have no idea what was wrong because it is the same USB port and same cable
