Hey guys.
My Xperia V's screen was broken and I had it replaced. The repair service assured me they only use original Sony parts. While the screen I got back does indeed have the Sony on it, I doubt it's real.
The colors seem pale, the viewing angle is terrible and my frontal camera didn't work (crashed all camera apps) until I wiped the phone and flashed a new rom.
Is there any way I can prove it's a fake? Maybe an app that shows the exact model of hardware components?

Br0 i have also same problem with my XPeria Sp..
The camera basically stopped working due to scratches or fog so i gave to service center and the phone is under warranty but at first the guy Flashed an FTF fiile saying that there was a software problem but then after flashing also there was the same problem then he opened the back panel of the phone and then the glass was removed and there no glass infront of the lens and then he started the camera the n the camera was working perfectly so the guy said that there was physical damage which is not covered under warranty but i requested him to adjust this problem and he also had xperia sp and seeing that i was helpless he finally agreed to change the whole assembly free of cost under warranty :victory:
I went with my uncle who owns a Xperia Z1 (he also gave them to update to 4.3) and he also convinced him to repair it under warranty and finally he took my ohone and preapered an Job Sheet and i submitted my phone to the service center ..
but he told that it will take almost 1 week or more and phone is still with them.

ya br0 it depends upon the person who looks into the device in the service center...
do some emotional attack to the person and you may get the device fixed under warranty...
and if you are having touch prob in flat surface then lodge a complaint against that also, hope they fix the same also.
I also made complain against touch prob but the service center guy said me that even if he changes the touch panel then also i will have the same prob as its a defect of the device and as the guy himself uses xperia sp he raised the issue to the top of the management of the sony but his device also didnot get fixed.:silly:

Xperia Sp Camera Camera Lense scratch solution
I was pretty stunned when i noticed that the image i was clicking were deteriorating in quality and getting smudged!
This was when i noticed that there were a lot of scratches. I've fixed this issue now. and it works really fine!
All you need is your normal toothpaste(Colgate) and a Earbud! Apply a pea of toothpaste on the ear but and keep wiping it on the camera lense in a circular motion for about 10 minutes, clean with a bit wet cloth or cotton. And Voila! you're lens is as brand new!
Thanks for the great tip
I just googled it and found that it really works
Cool will try and report
Thanks

i have tried this same thing with my nokia e6 camera lens but used different toothpaste (ram dev baba) but it didnt worked
maybe due to different toothpaste
I have experienced all of a sudden a black spot in my camera apps. It seems like some kind of dust maybe is INSIDE the lenses. Or maybe condensation? I havent put it into water or sth...
Example how the pictures turn up...
Do I take it to warenty center? Do I request a new device?
Thnx
Looks like the shadow a dust particle very close to the sensor, take a few more pics of different scenes and show it to the Sony support / xperia care. I'm sure they'll have it fixed for you.
Dropped it off in the nearest T-Mobile centre forr warranty replacement.
How the F does a dust get in a water resistant/waterproof phone?
i have the exacttttt same issue on mines, tmobile doesnt offer the z3c, how did you take it there?

Sorry for answering late. I had T-mobile warrenty so they fixed it. All fine for now.
I bought my Xperia Z3 dual last september 2014. athe camera worked perfectluy fine but after a few months I have encounter problems with the camera. By february 2015, the rear camera appears to have some spots on it. And dust inside the camera is veri visible. That time, it was still under warranty with my local provider so I had to bring it to the service center and they said that they have to change the whole back part of the unit. It was under warranty so I did not have to pay a single penny. But now, I have noticed again that there's, again, a spot in the camera. And so sad, again I can see visible dust inside the camera. While I used the unit, I make sure that all ports are tightly closed. Howcome a water and dust resistant phone will develop dust and spots within the camera lens.
note: Only once I have used the unit under water, and that was before the initial camera issues developed w/c was on december 2014. The void paper/piece of paper inside the sim ports are still intact and no change of color.
my question is, is there any chance that sony will attend to this issue with their product?
or should I be the one to shoulder the costs of the repair?
thanks.
Hello everyone!
I recently cracked the screen on this phone. It dropped from my pocket on the parquet. After I took it i saw the one crack across the screen. The display is working but touch works only in small area. So I decided to look for a replacement. But I dont't want to buy the screen with frame, as service suggested me, because it is too pricey in my country. So I want to buy just screen.
And there is a question. Can I find original screen from Sony without frame (i read what it comes only with frame in assembly) or all distributors which sells just display module as original OEM Sony part tells lie?
And if I can't, is there any very good comparable or maybe the same in image quality to original display copy?
Hi. I'm owning small repair service and I can say from experience there is no original LCD without frame. Sony service has only whole sets with frame and speakers but sometimes without flaps. LCDs without frame are never original. Unfortunately there is no tested distributor who always sells good quality replacements. It's all made in China and if You buy one of those it's better to buy from local supplier because You can return it when low quality come out. When You order it from China, You can return only when LCD or touch is not working.

Thank You for the very informative response.
But anyway, if anyone has replaced the screen with copy and it is very good quality, please reply.
It is a lottery. So even if anyone has a very good quality copy, it doesn't mean that you would get (from the same seller) the same. Besides - the good quality would mean different things to different people.
I would buy either original LCD or a new phone. As much as I know, you can get later various problems with 3rd party screens. Besides visual quality the cable connections and built-in chip must be good also otherwise you can see mild to heavy distortions very soon.
If I had to change LCD in my own phone I'd take used but original part instead of new replacement.

I had bought SGS7 a month later but among 3 phones all was with different screen defects. So i decided to return it and wait for SGS8 and now repair my Z3c (I have to use my HTC One V for daily tasks - a dubious pleasure). I don't want to spend much money on this phone. In the case of display quality for me is the lack of differences with the original or if they are not critical (the image is comparable). I read the forums and some people really got good replacement.
My Galaxy M21 phone's AMOLED screen got damaged due to liquid penetrating a few days ago. I went to the repair shop and asked to replace the screen with LCD one.
After replacement, everything is working fine, except for the proximity sensor. It always reports far proximity even if I bring a surface completely covering the screen. During calls, the screen does not automatically turn off when bringing it to my ear.
I have asked the repair person, and he replied that the LCD screen does not have holes to accommodate the sensor properly, so it is blocking the sensor. But AFAIK if that's the case, the sensor should always report near value, not far.
Is there any solution for this or is this a known problem due to LCD screen replacement?
Welcome to XDA
Not really if the mobo doesn't support the alien hardware.
The firmware instruction set may able to be altered to get the new hardware to work as you want.
It been better to use the original display, but not doing so you opened a can of worms.
Water damage? Possibility of mobo damage as well particularly if the battery wasn't quickly disconnected. If it was salt or brine water it's already dead.

By water damage, I meant a small amount of water somehow got into the screen and darkened the screen slowly starting from one side (a common thing on AMOLED displays).
I can assure that the water didn't cause any problem other than the screen, because I regularly check the device stats & sensors. The proximity sensor is behaving like this after screen replacement.
Well the former of what I said then applies.
I'm surprised it will even function with an LCD.

Sorry to barge in friend,
Thats why I am very careful with 3rd party repair vendors, I have lost many phones to them, they REPLACE new hardware with old spare components, its a bad habit they have & thats why the OEMs have "Authorized Service Centers" exactly for this reason.
For Shamshung devices I suggest you go to Shamshung Authorized Service Center only as Shamshung parts are quite in demand because of good build quality.
Small Story: Few days ago I went to Shamsung Service Center to try to downgrade my M21 from A13 to A11 (my phone is within warranty) & as expected they told me "only upgradable not downgradable sir!". I knew they were lying because a friendly shamshung service center guy once told me they do everything there internally, they have repair softwares there. Anyway, so I took the phone to a 3rd party repair station and the owner named Salman told me he has downgraded so many Shamshung phones of newer models, all I have to do is leave the phone with him for about 10 hours & he will downgrade from A13 to A12.5 then to A12 then to A11.5 and finally to A11 so it will take time, NO! he was lying! He was charging me a biggish amount but not just that he needed 10 hours to fix the mess that would happen when he stole & replaced the new components with older ones. Thats why Authorized Service Centers only friend.
@OldNoobOne I already went to Samsung's authorized service centre, but they only can replace the screen with AMOLED.
I was desperately trying to avoid AMOLED screens this time because they get damaged easily and are more fragile than LCDs (that's my experience with them).
Don't know how much correct I am, but I have seen most AMOLED screens getting damaged completely due to the slightest of shock or due to a single drop of water somehow seeping into it. I have never seen this type of problem with LCD screens.
Looks like I should have bought a phone with an LCD screen in the first place.

Yes friend, not just that LCD screen phones tend to consume lesser battery too. Another way to avoid AMOLED issue is that is to use a plastic pouch during rains etc. (there is no problem in communications) or also use a flip-cover instead of normal plastic/rubber back covers only. Just use a good quality scratch/screen guard like 3D+ and LCD will look quite like AMOLED

That makes perfect sense. Using an aftermarket LCD display does not.

All phones should be kept dry regardless of the IP rating. As you found out the AMOLED diodes used in displays are water soluble. The displays are sealed but if the seal is breached by water they will be destroyed in short order. Always use a good case to protect from impacts and high G loading induced damage when dropped. Wipe all water off immediately.
This N10+ in my has always been in a good case and unfortunately has been dropped onto concrete many times (zero visible damage). It has well over 8k hours on it. The display shows no sign of damage or degradation whatsoever. Don't use in direct sunlight and use manual brightness keeping the brightness at 50% preferably less it will get many years of service.

AMOLED displays use -less- battery, have infinite contrast (pure black) and the best color gamut. Higher and variable refresh rates are also possible, but these tend to use more power.
They are more expensive and have shorter, finite lifespans. Other than lifespan they are superior to backlight LCDs. That's assuming you protect the phone from drops and the design/QC was good when manufactured. Of course display quality can vary from manufacturer, model and individual displays. It could be you got a defective AMOLED display from the get go. Samsung's QC has been slipping in recent years it seems. A used N10+ in good condition might have been a better choice than a new midrange Samsung. It remains one of the best phones Samsung ever produced.
LCD displays are easier and cheaper to manufacture so you pay more for AMOLEDs.
If you prefer LCD displays by all means use them.
They are more rugged but not bulletproof by any means.
(Always protect LCDs from solvent exposure like isopropyl alcohol; they are open vented to the atmosphere and solvents can poison/destroy them.)
