There is a vertical green line near the right side of my screen. I don't know how it got there. I was listening to music and I turned the screen on and its there.
I'm on lightrom 5.1.1. I flashed it the other day and no problems. I would post a screenshot, but it doesn't show in them for some reason.
If it doesn't show in screenshots, that usually means its hardware as only software issues would show in a screenshot. Can it be seen during boot on the coloured parts?
Yes it can.
It's weird because when I turn my screen off, its the last thing to go off after black screen.

Definitely sounds hardware. I'd return tonarock and if its still present, which I assume it will be, RMA
Battery bar?

On the boot animation but not showing up in screenshots?
If it doesn't show up in screen shots, then it's hardware related. Screenshots take a picture of what you see software-wise. If your display completely dies, your phone would probably still turn on and allow you to do things if there were only a way to interact with it. Seeing that the green bar is always present, except in screenshots, it's hardware related. I'd RMA it or return it, depending on when you got it. First though, flash back to stock everything. They might blame you for the hardware fault. Lol.

I just received my nexus and I thought the battery was dead cause it showed the battery icon briefly. I left it charging for an hour and nothing. I tried the flashlight trick on the screen and I could see the welcome screen. I disable the automatic dimming feature and now my screen turns on. It must be a software issue on the sensor. I don't know yet.
So you shine a flashlight at the ambient light sensor and it turns the screen back up? Like the sensitivity of the sensor is too low? I'll have to make a mental note of this for when mine finally comes in.
Yes if you can't see the screen. If it still doesn't work, shine the light on the screen and you should be able to see the welcome screen. I don't know if you ever had your laptop LCD inverter burn out?
Thanks for this post. I had the exact same problem. I struggled to get up and running, but figure it out with the help of my GNex.

Thanks for the info.
I had this problem and I'm getting mine replaced. This is almost certainly not a software issue, else everybody would be having it (and if it were a misconfiguration, it would go away with a flash of the factory rom).

Do a search for light sensor, and you'll find other people with this problem.

True, I can't even see youtube in landscape mode cause the screen will shutoff. I have to have it in portrait mode.
Sounds more like a hardware problem. A light should DIM the screen, not brighten it. The sensor is reversed.

So when you walk outside to the bright sun, you would want your tablet's brightness to be at the lowest setting? I doubt it
Hi guys,
My mobile phone seems to have a not working screen. The weird thing is that the backlights work and I can connect via adb, but the screen and the charging led will not.
Do you think it could be because of a faulty or not connected wire? I want to make sure that changing the screen would solve the problem before buying one.
Thanks!
Update: I just noticed that the screen is on but extremely dim. It´s not possible to see anything at all.
Could be LED backlight
Does moto logo show, when rebooting?

Yes, the mobile works normally. It's just that the charging led (the one on top of the screen) won't work and the screen is extremely dark. It's almost impossible to see anything unless you are in a room with just a little light.
The brightness is set to 100%. It's probable a faulty screen or a loose connection but I would like to find a way to know if that's the case

That was not what I was asking, is the moto logo as bright as it should be when rebooting?

ah sorry. I see what you mean. No, the screen is always so dim that it's really hard to know if the mobile is rebooting.

so it's not a screen setting or bad app, and not likely a software issue.
It could be a bad screen LCD connection, but guessing the LCD screen needs to be replaced.
can buy a new LCD for about $30 on ebay, but maybe more trouble that it's worth
Motorola Droid 4 Screen Take Apart Repair Guide
could have someone else fix it
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/repair-service.html
or it's time for a new phone
I will try to fix it myself. The price of getting a new one will be similar to the price of sending it to repair so that would make no sense.
Thank you very much, sd_shadow
Are the hardware navigation buttons not supposed to light up? I get that you could potentially use them by feel in the dark but i never even considered they wouldn't be back lit when i purchased it. If they can light up, where is the option to turn them on?

They do not light up. They also do not move or change. Menu, home, back. Took me a few years but I finally have that memorized, sometimes I can even remember in the terror of the inky black of night.
Edit: Wow just reread this post sorry for the unnecessary sarcasm, been a rough day. But no they don't light up, there is no way to make them light up, but it's never given me a problem and I've never heard anyone else have issues with it

Thank you. Guess I'll just have to learn. I guess I could just use on screen nav if it bothers me that much.

Yes
Title,
Is this a thing w/ OLED screen?
It loses colors just before the screen goes off for a brief second. Something that doesn't really bother me, but enough to annoy me.
I was able to turn this off in developers option by turning the animation to none or zero whatever that option was.

You are absolutely right, that does the trick.
I was thinking that would solve the problem, but didn't actually think it was it.
Thanks ?
Screen turns grey just before it actually turns off
Im having the same grey screen issue on my new Note 8. Can you explain where and how I can change this? Thanks a lot.
That is really odd, I have animations to 0.5 and the screen just goes off, no color changing to gray scale, 950F 128 GB
All three of thr notes ive come across go monochrome , normal.

Mine dosnt its full color the whole time and even if i change anim.
Just noticed, the blue light filter takes a few seconds or more to engage after screen is brought back from standby mode. Pretty irritating.
Example viewing a page within Samsung browser, screen times out ( has to time out )then I press the home button to turn screen back on, blue light filter is off now for a good few seconds or unless I go into the settings screen.

No mines not like that, mines instant and on all the time.. I turned off animations in developer option, doubt that has anything to do with it tho lol

I thought it was just me. I looked around to see if anyone else was having it in other threads but I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. Mine is really delayed that I need to turn it off and turn it back on. Sometimes I wait over a minute til it activates so I just end up having to toggle it off and on since it's faster... Unfortunately

Definitely not you, like you said once the I press the home button to wake the screen up after immediate time out the page appears with no blue light filter until I switch to another window then back again .
