Hello
I'm happy receiving 5.1 update OTA today. However, now I'm stuck at update. It insist my phone "/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml" has unexpected contents. could anyone kindly drop me the stock file in this path? or tell me where I can get the file?
Thanks:crying:
Edit:
Solution
If some of your file are modified, you can use fastboot to only flash system.img
the files you can find from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347
and you MUST use the motolora special fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092
this process will not lose user data. then you have a stock rom.

I've downloaded the 4.4.4 zip, but after unzip it. only some img files. I believe the file should be in system.img file, but I could not find a way to deal with it . I tried simg2img and mount directly with no luck.
any suggestions? or somebody kindly just drop me the file. the md5 should be "fb760bb3816864cf1a6cc685b637dfcef76d2458"

Filefactory is dead-slow. Moto took a long time to give me access to the factory roms. I am linking 4.4.4 here for the community's convenience.

Your build.prop is carrier specific. You'll need to tell us which model/carrier you have. If you use the wrong one, things are likely to go haywire. I'm going to assume you have the XT1053, since its the only one the update has been released for so far.....
You can find the 4.4.2 "SBF" files here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Just find the right one for your carrier, then unzip the SBF. You can mount the img files with the appropriate software and extract the build.prop yourself, if nobody shares.
Good Luck
EDIT: are you using Xposed? If so, DISABLE IT!!!! It may be the reason you are getting the error. You can re-enable after the update.

Did you reboot after disabling Xposed? If not, try it.
If so, yes, you'll find it in system.img
Just google "mount img" to find an appropriate program to mount the img.
Good Luck
Updated by flashing system.img via cmd
Hi,
Just for grins I clicked software update to see if there was anything available it came up and downloaded a 66MB update file. Anyone know what it is?
I am not the guinea pig for this, don't want to break root by accident. I'm currently on NC9 4.4.2 rooted by Sunderwear's method.

That is a update file that will update the phone from NC9 to NE3. It is an update that is supposed to fix all the things that the original 4.4.2 update broke. If you could, would you mind uploading the cfg file that is located in /cache/fota/?
We have the file that will update ML2 to NE3 (485MB), but we don't have this one. It would be a huge help if you could grab that file before it installs itself.
To answer your question about root, I'm going to bet that it will fail to install because you have root. But if it does install then you will most definitely lose root, however we have a root method for NE3 that can be found in this thread.
Please, please, please try to get that file, it would be a huge help.

Try /data/fota/ instead. Basically you need to find a cfg file in the fota folder but for some reason the fota folder is in a different location for different versions of firmware.

What did you install to originally get the language.xml? It is not part of the COD6 base.

How did you flash COD6? Did you use ODIN or if not, can you point me to where you got the file from? language.xml is not part of COD6 so I am guessing some app you installed may have installed it, not COD6.
If I could get the file I could make a flashable zip for you to re-install it but not finding much info on language.xml.

By chance did you flash to EchoeRom? language.xml is an S6 file and is part of the EchoeRom.
I have the file so I can make a flashable zip for you but I am not sure what all is dependent on that file since it isn't part of our COD6 firmware.
Just so you have the file in case you want to use a root explorer yourself to put it back in the csc folder.
Curtsy of the EchoeRom. This is not a flashable zip, just the file itself. I also have the file from the S6 system dump and haven't looked at it to see if there is any difference.

Okay guys I think I've exhausted all of my options here's the short version of what's going on. I started the OTA update on my s5 and it got interrupted ( I don't really know how ) and it won't go past the Samsung boot screen (and it now says custom with an unlocked pad). After doing extensive research and downloads I can get the phone into Odin mode and into recovery mode. I tried flashing the stock rom, down grade roms and kernels of all variants through Odin and through recovery with no luck . Odin fails at secure system check and stock recovery says failed to find /system build.prop (no such file or directory). Viewing the recovery log It says my os is (oc4) and my bootloader is (oi5) no help from Samsung or AT&T. In Odin I am able to flash the oc4 kernel, modem and stock partitions. It says current binary SAMSUNG official system status custom Knox warranty void 0x0
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

here you go
step 1 : Download all 14 parts according to order and put them into a new folder
step 2 : download winrar and install it if you already have skip it
step 3 : open part 1 in winrar and extract it , it will auto detect all 14 parts
finally you will have the file , it took me so many hours to upload the full file .

hey syedrazaabbas im having the exact same problem. i flashed the files you kindly provided and same problem wont flash the system file. Im pretty compident with programs and phones so if there is a program i can use i will make a .tar.md5 oidin file myself if it is posible to do. thanks again, sorry i also searched and searched. it seems as if the att S5 section of XDA is a ghost town, i know it can be over whelming at times (i know im a mechanic and deal with my fair share) but i dont beleve in not helping if i have the means to do so.
