At the end of a long search, i find this informations. This study isn't my so, i find from a solid source. The methods involved in flashing custom roms and rooting your phone is highly custom and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturer that is Samsung in our case. Also rooting your device will void its warranty and you will be no longer eligible for any kind of free device services by the manufacturers/warranty providers. In case of any mishap we may not be held responsible. Follow these instructions to the letter to avoid any mishap or bricking. Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
Before we go ahead, here are some pre-requisites that you need to follow:
Make sure that your phone’s battery is charged over at least 60%. This is highly recommended in order to prevent any power issues on the device during the flashing process.
Make sure that you have backed up all your important Contacts, Call Logs & Messages. It is highly recommended in case of any mishap or data loss to backup all your important data.
Make sure that you use the original data cable to connect your device to your PC.
Make sure that your device is Galaxy S4 Active that is GT-I9295, check the model under Settings>General>About Device>Model.
In case of USB connection problems, enable USB debugging mode on your device. To do so, open Settings>General>Developer Options. If you can’t find the developer options, simply open About device and tap “Build Number” for 7 times and you should have the developer options enabled under the ”General Tab”.
Install the listed files carefully, follow this guide to letter in order to prevent any mishap.
Files you need to download:
Download and extract Odin PC - Get it here
Download and Samsung USB Drivers – Get here
Download the CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5 - Get here.
Download the SuperSu.zip file – Get here.
How to Install CWM Recovery on Galaxy S4 Active:
Put your GS4 GT-I9295 in download mode. To do so, reboot your device while holding the Volume Down key, you should get a screen showing a warning and asking to continue, press Volume Up to continue.
Now your phone should be in downloading mode. Connect your phone to your PC.
As soon as Odin detects your phone the ID:COM box will turn light blue.
Click on the PDA tab and select the CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5 file that you downloaded above.
Your Odin screen should look like exactly as shown below.
Click Start and the root process should start showing you a process bar in the first box above ID:COM.
The process is quite fast and will finish in a few seconds, as soon as it ends your device will get rebooted now, unplug it from the computer.
Congratulations you have your installed CWM recovery on your device now. To boot into CWM recovery, restart your phone while holding the Volume Up key, you should now see the CWM recovery.
How to Root your Galaxy S4 Active:
Place the SuperSu.zip file on your phone’s sd card.
Boot into the CWM Recovery.
In CWM recovery select “Install Zip > Choose Zip from Sd Card” and select the SuperSu zip file and in the next step select “yes”.
It will take a while to flash SuperSu and you’ve rooted your device now.
Reboot and find the SuperSu installed in app drawer.
Congrats You’ve rooted your phone successfully.
thanks bro this should help those who needs it!

You need to read the OP again, this method is for the i9295, not the i537 that you have. The method he posted only works for phones with unlocked bootloaders and unfortunately you have a phone with a locked bootloader. There is no custom recovery until an exploit is found.

Root didnt work
Hi,
I have the international version and I tried the above method. It did not work for me. I did everything step by step as mentioned. I get a notification: The superuser binary(su) must be updated. Please choose an installation method....but when I install i get an error message: There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer.
Do you have any suggestions? I have baseband version i9295vjubmk4...dont know if that might be the issue...
Help?
This process worked for my S4A
Thanks. Just what I was looking for.
Samsung S4 Active GT i9295
Build: _ _ _ _ _ BMK3
Android: 4.2.2
Cheers.
:good:
When I try to flash the CWM recovery it says in the box above the status bar "RESET".
And after the reboot, the recovery doesn't open, instead the Phone switches on itself.
Any help?
worked like a charm! Thanks!

Yeah, I've been around these forums for awhile. I'm currently on MF3 (4.2.2) as I see no benefit to upgrading to ML2. I thought, somehow you had miraculously unlocked the bootloader. If that were the case I would have immediately updated to ML2.
TL;DR I have everything I need, we just had a miscommunication and I thought you were able to install custom recovery on the i537 ML2.
G'day All,
As far as I can see there is two working rooting methods that I can find for SGS4A GT-I9295 on XDA.
One is the CF-ROOT. http://androidxda.com/root-samsung-g...ctive-gt-i9295
The other is CWM Recovery and Root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2649691
I would like to know Do they both work and witch one is better? Is there any other rooting methods for my GT-I9295. Also I'm from Australia, will they work on any firmware??
Thanks in advance

First of all we have many dedicated threads to teach you step by step about rooting XZR.
For help I can give you a hint of how you must do it in short :-
1. Downgrade your phone from Kitkat to jellybean 4.1
2. Download doomloard's toolkit to root phone without unlocking bootloader.
3. As now you you have rooted your phone, now download Backup TA toolkit to backup your TA so as to keep bravia and warranty for your phone for future. Save this TA backup file with your life.
4. Now Upgrade to Kitkat. As now you have your TA backup, you can unlock bootloader from Sony Developer site help.
5. You can look for a software called Flashtool and download it. This is going to help you in further things.
6. Now unlock your bootloader.
7. Now Flash a boot image which has a recovery and is for XZR.
8. Download a flashable zip file for installing SuperSU.
9. Flash that file using that recovery.
10. Flash the kernel from the downloaded firmware of Kitkat using flashtool.
11. Start your phone and you may find SuperSU installed in your phone.
12. Now comes the part to keep your Bravia engine alive. As you have taken a backup of your TA, open the Backup TA tool after activating developer mode and USB Debugging.
13. Then connect your phone, restore TA partition to your phone.
14. Now what you have is :- i). Rooted Kitkat on phone. ii). TA partition for future restoring of your TA after unlocking the phone.
All these above steps I have written here have a altogether a complete explanation. Now it's your turn to read them from here XDA. Go ahead and read more before asking anymore. The more you read, the less noob you are. :good:

Thank you for this guide. I really really appreciate it.
1. Wanted to know if it's not a problem to downgrade directly from 4.4.2 to 4.1/4.2?
2. No special things required to do? Just back up user data?
3. Use androxyde flashtool and use any region 4.1/4.2?
Just wanted to really make sure before i try doing this. Since i bought the phone recently and kitkat is just killing me with sdcard restrictions.

What you really need is right ftf file for your phone region isn't the problem and yes there is nothing special required to downgrade from any version to any version as far as ftf file is correct and is for correct device. You are good to go :good::good:
You can try root your zr kit kat use Towelroot. Some of the z and zr owners managed to get root even in lock bootloader. I already tested on my zr JB 4.3. Lockbootloader. Work flawlessly.
I did it!

You did nothing wrong. Link2SD or alike won't work on 4.2 and up . If you need to move apps to the SDCard you'll have to use FolderMount. You can move up to 3 data folders with the free version and it works great especially if you have apps with big data folders (like games). However, if you need to move more than 3 data folders, you'll have to get the Premium version.
Good going.

Our friend here is right. These apps were made for gingerbread mainly, and alas they don't work on JB+. So what you need to do is understand more about folder mount before starting to use it. Learn more about it before making your move.

Okay. So currently im backing up my s4 active device using samsung kies 3. android version 4.4.2. I have Broadband Version I537UCUNH3. The device is rooted using towelroot a while back. I wanted to know if i update to lollipop will it remove my root? Because i dont want root anymore and i want it updated. Is there a way to Update and keep my data and stuff. And it wont bother me if root is gone.

My question is again is that How will i update my device and keep my apps and such, even if it removes root. Dont want it anymore. AND if i cant is it bad to stay in this android version 4.4.2? Anyways thanks**sry for my bad english.

It should not delete your data. The only thing that would do that would be to use Odin to flash back to NE3, which I don't think is necessary. If you stay on 4.4.2, the Android Police will arrest you and throw you in a dungeon cell with only outdated Apple products to pass your time. Lol jk sorry it's perfectly fine to stay on 4.4.2 you'll just have to find a way to disable the OTA app (can always uninstall it with Titanium Backup, that's what I've done in the past).

I used the keeproot method myself, it is simple enough as long as you follow and understand the instructions. OC6 does not have any problems that I am aware of. You can always be rooted (that is do the keeproot method) and then just not do anything with root once on OC6. More generally speaking it is perfectly possible (maybe even somewhat normal) to be rooted and not do anything about it. Root really is only giving yourself complete access to the file system/OS, you don't actually have to do anything with it. And I'm pretty sure once you're on OC6 you could just unroot. Point being, while you need root to get to OC6 manually, once on OC6, you have plenty of choices if you really don't want to be rooted.
Always pleased to help when I can. And you've already repaid me by hitting the thanks button :good:

The update works fine and didn't erase any of my data. I can't think of any hidden tricks lol It's huge because it's Samsung and they include too much bloatware. NH3 should work, not 100% positive.
